I rely more on my preparation and presence of mind. I would just try to talk as normally as possible and use a board to present my ideas. In the meanwhile ask somebody else to arrange for handouts,if possible.

In the end I would appologise for the missing material and then promise to e-mail them the contents of the CD / presentation

There was a stray donkey near our house. And to prevent it from running away, a person had tied up its front legs and was using it to transport stuff. A group of young boys (avg age about 7)near the house ran around it for 2 hours before they could finally gather the courage to gp near it and cut the ropes. The concern the kids had for the animal was simply marvellous. Then another neigbhour called up the animal shelter to take it away.
