At Miss Earth and as Bhumi! "I think I've got the best in Bhumi!" says the Bengali beauty Reshmi Ghosh who has it going well for her playing one of the leads in India's favourite soap - Kyunki Saas Bhi Khabhi Bahu Thi. Those doe like eyes not only emotes feeling shy but gives the killer look that's needed to portray a character like Bhumi. Reshmi Ghosh made us proud in the year 2002 representing India for the Miss Earth pageant and winning the Best National Costume and she is here to stay. This dusky Bengali is aspiring and grateful to have gotten the opportunity to portray the role of Bhumi. Let's know more about Bhumi through the person who knows Bhumi the best, from none other than Reshmi Ghosh! You have gone the trodden path with your career - modeling, television and movies? Yes, I started off with Modeling, then did some commercials, I was doing some tele-films when I realized that acting is what I love to do, I worked in a Bengali movie called Amar Mayer Shopath which gave me a firm grounding, it was a typical commercial movie and it did well. I am very choosy about the kind of work I do, so television is where I hope the right directors and producers notice me and my work! What is the turning point that helped your career? Winning the title in Miss India and going to represent our nation at Miss Earth pageant! It took me six months for the fact to sink in. At every step I have chosen what I want to do, so I feel very secured, I am not too ambitious! Tell us about the Miss India experience, how has it been since the last four years since you won the title? Wonderful, it has kept me busy, has given me the opportunity to travel (which I love to do), and meet lots of experienced people in this industry. I got to sign some really good projects and movies. How does it feel being part of Kyunki...? Comfortable! I couldn't have got a better role in a saas-bahu saga. How did you come by to play the role? I went for the auditions for Kyunki…, Ekta thought I had a bold face and at the same time look intelligent and so can carry off the arrogant girl - Bhumi. You are always given roles that are daring and unlike you, why? As Ekta puts it, she says - I can carry off a girl who is bold, beautiful and intelligent! I think that sums it all. Bhumi is like the spoilt, no-frills girl, how is it playing the role? Bhumi's role is a primary character in Kyunki… and yes, she is a difficult character to portray, she is neither a total positive nor a negative character, she is just stubborn, spoilt and adamant, she knows that her Dad is on her side, and that she is believed blindly. She doesn't step into others territory as far as others leave her alone, she is strong! Her body language is very strong, and she is outright blunt - I am not! One character that you would love to do? Many… But I would love to play a psychic character, there are too many takers for the deaf and dumb character today, though I think it is a very challenging role to play, I would love to! A character in today's world of television that you hope to play... I think I've got the best in Bhumi. What do you bring to the show? I would like to tell you Ekta's point of view here. Bhumi is her baby, she wants the character to really grow, and extra efforts are being put to establish this character. Bhumi's dressing style is spoken about widely, so you can see that every detail is taken care of. She is not a Komolika, she is blunt, straight and has a killer attitude. Ramp model - Shivani Kapoor is the reference point, the killer look is something I have to carry all the time and that's difficult as Reshmi is not like that. My Birthday - 20 July My support system - my family and friends My favourite destination - Morocco My favourite hangout - Innovatory In my free time I - Talk to friends on phone for long time, cook and some watch television. Five years from now, I'll be... Continuing to do what I am doing now, I want to settle with my own family and have kids, I am a real family kind of girl. I suppose I will still be acting. My favourite movie - Singing In the Rain, Sound Of Music My favourite book - I don't read! Best actor in Indian television - Hiten Tejwani, both as an actor and person, he is such a positive person to be around and learn, I also like Yash Tonk. The director you would want to work with - Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aparna Sen Kind of music you enjoy - Western Classical or any music that is soothing. You are always humming the song - Bade Achche Lagte Hai from the movie Balika Badhu. I sung it in the talent round at Miss India also, it's my all time favourite. You are most comfortable when wearing - Kurta and jeans. Best costume you have been in - It was my dream-come-true to be in Ritu Kumar designed costumes, especially the one designed for for Miss Earth's National Costumes. Your passion - Cooking, eating, traveling and music You Support - Green Peace, But I am sorry I haven't got to do much as I had to settle in what I am doing. But in time I am sure I will do more. |
