In most soap operas the hero is involved with more than one heroine. Why this such a common theme in all of them?

Mr.Bajaj and Prerna has had their share of fights. Kavya and Anjali has a famous trinagle with Yug. Even Mr.Rastogi has had Miilee out of his wedlock. The recently started Baa, Bahu aur baby – many hints are being dropped to conclude that one of the sons do not belong to Baa.

In Kyunki alone – all prominent people have multiple partners

On the face of it, Gautam seems to have beaten all of them with 3 wives.

He married Ganga out of parental pressure. But was uninvolved with her physically and mentally. He loved Teesha and she was unfortunately killed. Now he is happily settled with Damini. He was NEVER involved with two women at the same time.

Is it so common in our society to cheat on partners?

Its not common, But at the same time if you are so obssive about someone you cannot help yourself resist. If i were in any of the girls place , i would have suffred throughout life but never ever stayed with a man who has someone else in mind! 😊

Very well said Koolremix. Its not common in our society and nobody would give in so easily to somebody else as depicted in these serials. But why do they show like that on screen ?

There are people who indulge in extra marital affairs.However i feel certain things shown in Ekta's soaps are just tooo far fetched.I dont think men indulge in other women this often. Or perhaps, maybe i feel this way because i haven't seen the other side of life..but seriously....iv never seen so many such men in one family. Almost all the Viranis have had more than one woman in their life.

What i find even more ridiculous is that even after sleeping around with God knows how many other women, these guys get away with it so easily!! How easily they're forgiven and accepted by others. Would ppl's attitudes have been the same if a woman was found cheating on her husband? Lets say if Ganga was found cheating on another man, she would probably have been kicked out of the house..

I still can understand how Tulsi forgave Mihir for the night he spent with Mandira. The excuse he gave was very lame🤢. he said something like " mein ne ye sab insaniyat ke khatir kiya😕" True, Baa slapped him, Tulsi refused to see his face for quite a while, but the fact remains that eventually he was accepted by everyone in the family. That to as an "adarsh" beta?!?!

As far as Gautam's case is concerned, i don't think hes at fault. As you pointed out di, he was never involved with 2 women at once. He was just...lets say...a bit jinxed when it came to marriage. Im glad hes settled with Damini and hope that another woman doesnt come into his life😆

Also i think there's nothing wrong in getting married more than once...(provided that your partner is either dead or uv divorced him or her).After all, all marriages dont end in a perfect way. People deserve another chance, a chance to move on.😊Having said that, i still do think that it is awfully wierd being married to someone who was once your brothers wife(bhabhi)

Can't think of any more other ppl who are cheating on their wives, i think u pointed most of them out. What about Om though....he had another wife..trishna?😕 And i think in KGGK only, Samir and Gayatri had an affair too😕. But nowadays im not following Kyunki,let alone KGGK, so i may be wrong.

I think that there are many extra marital affairs. Sometimes you don't want to cheat your husband/wife, but when you don't get much attention from them you can get close to someone else.
Or perhaps when you have an arranged marriage, you don't love the person you are married to, you like someone else and you cannot tell about it to your parents.

As far as Sameer and Gaytrie are concerned, Sameer didn't know that he married Shruti so from his point of vieuw he isn't at fault when he had a relation with Gaytrie.
But otherwise Gaytrie knew she wasn't married to Sameer, but no matter what she wanted Sameer.

Gaurav also had an extra marital affair with Shweta, only to get a child from her, because Shilpa couldn't be a mother.
I think that is not fair for Shweta.
They could have adopted a child, is not fair for the mother when her child is snatched away.

DeepAnBH, there are always been Extra Marital Relationship and Pre-marital Relationship in Western Society as well as in our sciety. Yes, I agree that Ekta Kapoor's serial shows every thing lot more than the logic. There are some mens who has more than 2 marriages because of unfortunate reasons: Divorce or death of a spouse. But there are other men or women who has multiple relationships even partially in their lives or throughout their life time which our society call it Extra marital relationship and Premarital relationship.
First of all what is Premarital relationship and why it happens in our society is because of Forced or arranged marriages. Most of the times college students start liking each other and they end up falling in love without thinking of the consequences. In modern days, most of the parents accept their kids relationships and allow them to get married. Now some of these love relatioships are just Crushes and they fail miserably in permanent relationship and guys normally after marriage again attract to another woman because they don't love each other anymore. Now this creates an Extra marital relationship.
Another situation of Premarital situation is when Boy and a girl are THE BEST FRIENDS and when their friendship changes into LOVE relationship, they don't even know. But they respect their family values more than their love and friendship and they decide not to even talk to their parents because of Cast, religion or status difference. They both go to different direction in their lives and get married to their parents found partners. Now the real problem starts, because they both can never forget their FIRST LOVE and they continue their relationship secretly. Now see Premarital relationship changes into EXTRA MARITAL relationship and if other spouses find out, the problem starts, but if the real spouse doesn't find out, then they keep on cheating on their spouses. I have seen some couples even have kids from different parents. In India, it doesn't happen openly, but in Western countries, its happening openly.
There can be VARIOUS reasons for these relationships. Some looks bad but they are very ligitimate reasons and some people just want to have fun in their life without thinking about anybody's feelings, I think that is totally disgusting.

These stuff r not common in real life but is very common in all of Ekta's serials and sumtimes people get fedup of these. 😡

It may not be as common in real life as in reel life of serials, but I'm sure all of us here know at least one person (in real life) who has had an extramarital affair.

Ekta shows us what we want to see.

Believe it or not, our indian audience is fascinated with the concept of extramarital affairs.

Is it because it's not a common practice in our society? I think to some extent, it is!

may be extra marital affairs do exist in our society, but atleast they are not legitimatised like in Ekta's soap!! the latest one: Sahil's is absolutely ludicrous. What does Ekta want to say to society: Wife who is more intelligent than her husband cannot be tolerated so the man gets insecure and starts sleeping around???I do agree that as a society the Indian community has moved on and ppl do understand when all marriages do not have fairy tale endings. Ganga and Sahil were a happily married couple, why could sahil not been shown as a supportive husband, proud of his wife's achievement, instead of making him an insecure person. the least Sahil cud hv done was to file for a divorce. Ekta has a huge responsibility as a soap maker and millions watch them , however illogical. Why does she always hv to bring another woman into the picture!!! beats me!!!!
