What was her story in S1?
She was a good daughter, very obedient and dutiful. She meets Vishal, falls in love with him and introduces him to the family. The family likes him and then want to meet his parents obviously. That’s when they get what we say 440 watts ka jhatka 
Everyone is convinced Payal set up her son to trap Shobha to avenge her humiliation and is trying to persuade her to not marry him. But she’s relentless and doesn’t budge. Vishal finds out about the situation and Payal assures them that she will not hurt their daughter as contrary to their assumptions she does love her son and wouldn’t hurt him by doing anything that’s against the girl he loves and intends to marry.
They’re still apprehensive but give in and she gets married. Payal does play subtle mind games with her but never tries to physically harm her. Her husband sees Shobha is a good girl and is very nice to Shobha as his DIL. Payal is hurt badly in an accident or some political rally where she’s attacked leaving her bedridden for weeks. Shobha takes very good care of her and looks after her very lovingly. That wins over Payal. She comes to love Shobha like her own daughter after that and admits that she couldn’t have found a better wife for her son. She even praises Tulsi for raising Shobha so well. Everyone notices Payal while not exactly the warmest of individuals, does seem to be rather affectionate towards Shobha now more than they could’ve ever imagined her to be.
Shobha finds out about Mihir’s affair with Mandira and that they have a son, Karan, someone she met and befriends herself thinking he’s Saahil’s friend and has a miscarriage owing to the shock. Payal and Vishal take care of her and help her.
She then has a child with Vishal sometime later - a son I think.
Later she ends up getting widowed as Vishal finds out that Ansh and his own business partner are involved in a drug trafficking ring and they were using Vishal’s import export business as a front to supply drugs. He wants to expose them and is killed.
The business partner plays innocent and fools everyone about how he doesn’t understand who would want to kill Vishal. He impresses Payal so much that she proposes that Shobha marry him as she thinks Shobha is too young and she mustn’t waste her life living as a widow. Payal gets her married and Tulsi finds out that her new SIL is also responsible for the death of her previous SIL, both coincidentally Shobha’s husbands.
Shobha gets furious when she finds out her mom is blaming her husband, she has a daughter with this one I think. Later of course Shobha and Payal find out Tulsi was right all along. But no one knows Ansh was the one who had Vishal killed until he admits it on the day Tulsi shoots him.
Tulsi aims her gun at Ansh and he mocks her by saying her hands aren’t even steady and she thinks she can threaten him. He goes onto say he assaulted Nandini and she could do nothing, he will now kidnap her and do with her as he pleases for life and she’ll be helpless now as well. Then he taunts her by saying he’s her son and to her relationships matter so she’ll never have the courage to pull that trigger and kill him. Unlike him, who got her SIL killed when he was being a threat.
That’s when Tulsi’s hesitation is wiped out entirely. She tells him his words did what his actions couldn’t do - it cut through her moral dilemma as a mother aiming a gun at her son. So far she was hesitant because she felt she could still get through to him but now, now when she knows he’s wronged not one but two of her daughters and also killed Vishal, who was like a son to her she’s not gonna hesitate to pull that trigger and then she proceeds to do exactly that.
And we see Ansh floating midair for days after that
