Amrit and Randhir's story had so much of scope beyond the romance, in terms of how Ullu Lal, the radio and the newspaper could empower Ranjhan, but it was left incomplete in the race to get to the post-Partition phase

Also, just something that always crosses my mind, since it is a show, we were able to witness Uday and Vashma meet after braving the odds, in reality, they would have been instantly killed by Abrar/Bhanu the moment either of them realised what was happening. Almost happened on the show, but they wanted to play safe and not show that level, hence Vashma got married to Faruq while Uday's trust was brutally crushed and then because of the viewers liking them so much, the makers were forced to bring them back together

My favourite, Radha Rani was also such an amazing mix of understanding and naivety. Wish she had a better outcome, though in dialogues they did say she was sent off to study and stand on her own feet

Since it's a serial they had to show a happy ending

Loving outside of your community, whether it is in terms of gender, age or caste/religion was unacceptable to majority of middle-class conservative families even then, and it is even now. And given the circumstances, even bestfriends had become enemies, to secure their own lives. Maut ka khel khel rahe the sab, zindagi ka koi thikhana nahi tha.

This thread and the discussion brought out a lot of fond memories.

I still remember the first episode - the pure bond between Amrit and Vashma stole my heart right there. ❤️

Eventually, all the other characters were introduced and each of them added something new.

However, if I have to name any particular episode - the one where Vashma agreed to marry Faruq for UdRit's sake as well as the partition episode was something else altogether. 😭 😭 😭

Harsh reality at its best... 💔 💔 💔

I wish the makers did justice to the storyline but to be honest, from the second partition episode itself the show started going downhill, and with the leap and the introduction of another family there was nothing else to root for. 🤔

But at least they gave us a happy ending with the four protagonists following their hearts and achieving their goals. 😊 That would always be special. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I wish Radha stayed post leap and got her own hero😭

I love how this show explored the dynamics between the friendships of the different generations - With Dr. Baig and Lalaji, the friendship was such that they lived comfortably alongside each other, peacefully coexisted and still had their own house rules; with Abrar and Bhanu, we saw a glimpse of the rift that was to come in the future months; with Amrit (and Uday) and Vashma, it was the selfless friendship that transcended any boundaries of religion, and they believed they are two parts of the same soul. Each had their own beautiful journey and narrative 😇

Later Radha and Randheer became a part of that too, and our Fab 5 team added their own charm to the show as a whole ❤️

True, they did give us a happy ending for AmDheer (Ranjhan/Ullu Lal), VashMay as hockey coach and kathak teacher and their baby girl and Kabir with his full fam, and we are free to just watch Ep. 50 and then the last episode and pretend like the faltu drama never happened 🫠
