According to this article the partition plan was announced on June 3, that means if AmDheer wedding is on May 9th, then they may get married and separated later during partition.

Baisakhi is April 13. So wedding is in May.

Riots kept on increasing since while it was always clear that Sindh region would go to the other side, the fate of this city was still not known and violence erupted like fire. Plan was made on June 3 as shared by Ananya, but all other discussions were happening and people were resigning from Punjab.

I think they plan to use Zohra Bai afterwards too. They would not have introduced her for nothing.
