Saas-bahus might be losing their sheen on television but large and extended business families are 'the thing'. And that's just what the Edit II productions is cashing in on their latest daily soap on Sahara, Virasat, which captures the ups and downs of the six Sahni siblings — four brothers and two sisters. The difference lies in the fact that it attempts to break away from the stereo-typed women oriented sagas and revolves around a male protagonist. Virasat is based on the emotional bonding between a son, Manav, and his step-mother.

The Sahnis are thrown out of their house after their father dies and their uncle Omkar cheats them of their wealth. However, their mother Jaishree takes up the struggle, chin up. Her children help her but the real trial begins when two ambitious siblings refuse to shoulder their share the of responsibilities. This forces Manav to start from the scratch and that too all by himself.



Virasat boasts of some of the hottest names of television like Vaquar Sheikh (who plays Manav), Jaya Bhattacharya and Anupam Bhattacharya (once again as the blacksheeps of the family) Juhi Parmar and Kabir Sadanand. And topping them all, is a really elegant Suhasini Mulay as the mother of these youngsters. For Suhasini this is her first brush with television and she carries it off with elan.
