ANUJ SAXENA'S Lucky bloke with women co-stars. He's been cast opposite all leading ladies of elevision from Nausheen Ali Sardar to Shweta Kawaatra to Shilpa Saklani, Sai Deodhar, Manasi Joshi Royand Jyoti Mukherjee. And in his first show Aasmaan Se Aagey produced by Viveck Vaswani for DD2, he worked with Amrita Singh.
His latest under-production serial Riston ki Dorr (Adhikari Brothers) for Sony's afternoon slot had model Kanupama Verma playing his wife. For reasons unknown she was replaced by Urvashi Dholakia. Interestingly the role was offered to Kanuj's ex-flames Shweta Kawaatra and Narayani Shastri but curiously both refused... while Shweta refused because "the production house wanted the answer next morning. I can't take decisions at a short notice and least when I am under pressure "; Narayani refused because things didn't work out with the production house; well various permutations and combinations led them to the door of Manini Dey, she too refused. Finally Urvashi Dholakia was roped in to play the lead in Rishton ki Dorr. Will this, dorr remain pukki or kachchi only time wll tell!
Rishton ki Dorr is a tellynovela.It is the first male dominated story in which the brother played by Kanuj, has the responsibilities of three sisters and how these responsibilities create conflicts in his married life. This one-hour daily will make Kanuj the afternoon King as he is already seen in Kumkum at 1 p.m. on Star Plus. The serial is expected to go on air in March.
