Green carpet replaces red: . Though the Green Carpet was nice, the people present were all eyes to see the celebs, which included Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Dia Mirza, Rahul Bose, Irrfan Khan, R Madhavan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Usha Uthup, Mohit Chauhan and Sayali Bhagat. Among those expected at the event was Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik, who was scheduled to take the same flight as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, cancelled his plan at the last moment. A source said, "Hrithik called off his plan because an early morning shoot came up for the next day." Pradeep Dhoot and Rajkumar Dhoot, who were associated with the event, were present too.
Song, dance and fash: Mini Mathur and Hussain Kuwajerwala were the emcees for the show. Hussain cracked this joke after Manish Malhotra's fashion show, where Deepika was the showstopper. He said, "Ise kehte hain 'Mera gown mera desh.'" Mohit Chauhan sang Dooba Dooba and a track from Kaminey. He said, "I wrote Dooba when I was in the hills." Since Dia's dance performance was slated towards the end, many left before she could entertain them!
Yeh samajh nahin aaya: Ash arrived minutes before Shabana did. But Shabana got ready faster than Ash and came for the event. Ash came moments before her award was announced and she entered when the lights were dimmed for Deepika to enter. And moments after receiving her award, she gave the winning speech and left.
More: Irrfan, who teamed an achkan jacket with denims came with wife Sutapa and even read out a poem. Rahul Gandhi was awarded the youth icon of the year trophy and Priya Dutt received it on his behalf. R Madhavan said that if he had to scare the guests, he'd say, "I'll tell the guests that I've requested the organisers if I could be nominated in the style icon category next year." Deepika said, "Being a youth icon is a responsibility and being a fashion icon is a bigger responsibility."
