Hey everyone! My name is Ani. No one knows me here- I used to post 7 years ago on this forum.
I used to post when there were peeps like Mina, Rati, Sowmi and many others who were incredibly nice and welcoming. We were a small community of Abhigya shippers, but a strong one, and had the honour of following Abhigya's story when love was just blossoming and solidifying. I miss that- truly a blast from the past. I hope the team are all well and doing incredible things in life!
Warning- this post has no structure. Just a crazy person rambling!
Late to the party but I come back here to mourn the death of Abhigya. I had followed the show religiously for the first 3-4 years, then stopped watching from around when the Abhigya-Kiara-King saga started (by then, I was tired of the separations!). I would randomly watch Abhigya scenes here and there, but barely knew what was actually happening in the show.
Recently, nostalgia kicked in and I watched Abhigya scenes from the first 150 eps or so (would highly recommend doing- Sriti and Shabir are magicians!). Then out of curiosity, I watched bits and pieces until the very last scene of Abhigya ep 1994.
I am SO GLAD Abhigya are officially dead.
Death is where they will finally find peace. The whole world of Kumkum Bhagya knows that. Because if Abhigya were brought alive again, we know that very quickly they would somehow be separated and I think this time, that would have actually killed these two characters. They've had enough of being separated. And if death is the only way they can be together, so be it. At least death will protect them from the writers.
For me, Abhigya's story ended the day Lady Mogambo and Abhi reunited in that mansion. The rest of the 6 or 7 years after that was like the writers writing 8 fanfics of these two. Every one of those fanfics started with them meeting, 'falling in love again', and then separating for a ludicrous reason. We actually got some fun stories out of it- the lost memory arc with Nikita-Rockstar one, the Abhigyara one wasn't horrible either. We even got a Munni-Abhi one, even the 'Abhi goes mental, Pragya takes care of him' saga too. I wouldn't say they all were greatly done, but ultimately, Kumkum Bhagya is the writers' story, they have every right to do whatever they want with it. And boy did Sriti and Shabir light the screens on fire regardless of what they were given!
We saw almost every type of arc but I am super glad they didn't do a 'Abhigya dusri lifetime' arc- nothing can beat all the backstory and intensity that they had created with Abhi and Pragya in the lifetime they featured. They kept the same Abhigya canon and we were lucky to see these two romancing under different circumstances. This meant Sriti and Shabir where able to really show off the versatility of their acting.
There is a scene before 'Abhi mental saga' where Abhi is dying, comes to meet Pragya and tell her to live on and take care of their daughters. That scene devastated me. Brilliant acting. But that's when I realised how terrible I was. I hated the idea of Abhi dying without Pragya. If they had to die, I wanted it them together 😆
Then, when I watched the final scene of Abhigya in the freezer (at this point I didn't know this was Abhigya's final scene) in ep 1993 or 1994, when they were showing the flashbacks, hearing Abhigya's dialogues, the music- I remember thinking 'this would be a nice final ending Abhigya scene'. And lo and behold, it was.
Abhigya died (well, ridiculously went into a coma), with no regrets, together, in each other's arms, no more misunderstandings.
And what I liked the most was how raw Pragya was at the end and that finally Abhi saw Pragya's love for what it was. Pragya basically admitted she would give up everything (and I mean everything, even her children), to be with Abhi. "Bhar meh jao everything, I want you! I just want you."- is basically how I interpreted this scene. Finally, she was selfish. She got she had wanted- weirdly enough, I think dying in Abhi's arms was her greatest ending. And Abhi, he admitted to being stupid. He admitted to not deserving her. But I disagree- these two characters are so flawed but so deeply in love with each other, it doesn't matter who deserves who. Abhigya are just meant to be- full stop.
I think the writers didn't kill them off there and then because they were also in love with Abhigya. They couldn't let go. They had to mourn as well- Abhigya was their love and passion for 7-8 years! And very unpopular opinion but I was happy to know Aliya was the one to finally pull the plug on Abhigya's bodies (not souls, souls had left ages ago). Once again, weird thought but from a 'fate'/'full circle' point of view, if anyone had the right to do that, it was Aliya who could finally 'kill' Abhigya once and for all.
I will miss Abhigya. Sriti and Shabir, words can't express what you have created. Truly legendary. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you to the support cast as well for making their love story even spicier (and being brilliant actors too!).
Even before their first meeting, all the near misses, were mind blowing so hats off to the writers who set up these characters for the success it has become (I think the staff realised they had hit the jackpot when they cast Sriti and Shabir). I wish all the cast members well. It's lovely to see they're all on great terms and TiSha have such immense respect for each other.
Remember their first official meeting, under the stars when Abhi saved Pragya from the ocean? Look how far we've come. A truly beautiful title of an AT btw, jhoomenge phir se dono yaar 👏
