Ranbir felt aryan's eyes burning into his side the more he tried to ignore him.
Aryan continued looking ahead to hide his smugness, but not being able to help himself from taking peeks at Ranbir's face.
"Seriously Aryan, if you don't knock it off right now, I'm going to park the car to the side and whoop your ass", Ranbir warned through gritted teeth, his face and neck burning scarlet. Aryan considered all the possible reasons for Ranbir being red in the face and smirked victoriously, thinking about the earlier conversation they both had at home in Ranbir's room before setting off for college.
"I'm trying, but your slower than usual driving has me thinking whether you remember that I'm in the car with you and not prachi". Aryan smiled devilishly at Ranbir, wiggling his eyebrow at Ranbir teasingly. Aryan gripped his seat tightly in fear as Ranbir sped up intentionally.
"Ok, ok I get you are pissed that she refused your offer of a lift this morning.....",
"OH SHUT UP ARYAN.... This had nothing to do with HER".
If Ranbir was a cartoon character, he would probably have smoke coming out of his ears and nose right about now, Aryan thought bemusedly.
"So why are you in such a mood for?"
"Because you've been staring at me non-stop since I spoke to prachi on the phone at home as if you're looking for something on my face, which I do not appreciate".
"Well do you want to talk about it then instead of this awkward and angry silent mode you're on? After all, it's just me"?
"You shouldn't be surprised that I don't find that the least bit comforting or convincing".
"Ouch, that's painful", Aryan said in mock shock.
"You think I haven't got you sussed out, but I do. You're looking for me to say just one thing about Prachi that you can twist to make it sound like I'm completely obsessed with her". Ranbir clenched his lips in instant regret.
"That is not what I do. What I do is tell you exactly how things are, things that you deny. Oh, and by the way.... you ARE obsessed with Prachi. Your words, not mine". Aryan roared in laughter.
Ranbir gripped at the steering wheel tightly, trying to control his hands from reaching out for Aryan's stupidly annoying and smug face. Ranbir began tinkering with the music player, selected a half-decent song and increased the volume. He took a quick glance at Aryan, grimacing at Aryan cockily as if he won some battle over Aryan by momentarily blocking his voice with music.
Aryan resigned and left the conversation there thankfully for Ranbir. Ranbir tried to focus on the road only, trying to pay attention to even the smallest of details on the road to stop him from thinking about Prachi. But that clearly did not help.
Were prachi and shahana really arriving to college late today, or was that just an excuse for prachi to not have to get in the car with me, Ranbir pondered, dejected.
Ranbir recalled having the brightest idea of calling Prachi to ask her and Shahana to get a ride with him and Aryan to college today, with the phone on speaker as he sat tying his shoe laces on the bed, just when Aryan noisily walked in and overheard him asking Prachi about giving her the lift. Aryan swiftly jumped to sit by him on the bed as he went and took over the conversation with Prachi.
"Yeah, you two should totally jump with us in the car on the way to college today. We can have carpool karaoke too. It would be so cool", Aryan had suggested animatedly, nudging Ranbir teasingly with his elbow. Ranbir had cursed Aryan's, as well as his own sense of timing.
Did Aryan need to come now? He won't let this slide now, Ranbir predicted with agitation. Well at least Prachi will come if Aryan asks her, but wouldn't she if he himself asked her too?
"Sorry Aryan, that's really sweet of you to offer, but you and Ranbir should go ahead without us two, because we'll be coming later than you as it is to college today", Prachi had explained, yet Ranbir was not convinced.
He nudged Aryan, leaning to whisper in his ears. "Tell her I'll drive slowly and carefully".
Aryan had looked at me like he had seen an alien when I said that. That one line had formed the basis of all the pestering and teasing Aryan had inflicted me with after the phone call ended when Prachi had said that she really was coming late and not refusing because she's scared of my driving. Ranbir had left the conversation at that and didn't push Prachi on it further and hung up after telling her he would see her at college then, but Aryan had not been willing to let it go.
"WHAT WAS THAT? I thought she was irritating, lecturer, saps the fun and energy out of everything, blah blah blah blah blah, yet here you are, calling her up just to offer lifts to her? What's cooking, heh?"
Ranbir stammered to answer. "W, w, what, can't I do a nice thing for her at least now and then according to you? It's just a lift, I didn't offer her a kidney". Ranbir had said exasperatedly, almost speaking in flustered panic.
"Exactly! Offering a lift to her should be akin to offering her a kidney for you as you claim how irritating she is, yet the way you went out of your way to call her up when I wasn't here, asking her whether she wants to ride with you.... doesn't look like some act of kindness. Bro, I saw the look on your face when I came in. You were not expecting me to come and hear your call to her. That uncomfortable look on your face is the one I often see you with whenever Prachi crops up in a conversation, especially at college when you hear the guys on the team talking about Prachi."
Ranbir had abruptly gotten off the bed and stood by the window, gripping the side of the window frame in tension as if for support.
"I haven't got a clue what you're talking about Aryan. Let's just go."
"Seriously? Yesterday in the locker room when Tej had mentioned to Vicky about Prachi joining fashion show and Vicky had said that Prachi doesn't seem like the kind of girl who would be into that sort of thing and Tej said that Prachi is really pretty and easily could look gorgeous in anything she wears, but said he can't wait to see Prachi all glam and dressed up, the way you spoke to him was as if you would take his head off when you intentionally changed the conversation to talking about football practise timings."
Aryan had nodded his head in disbelief at Ranbir's seemingly short memory or intentional denial to remember that moment. Ranbir had walked off telling Aryan to either come silently to the college with him or not at all.
Ranbir did not realise, whilst recalling the morning conversation with Aryan that they had both reached college. Ranbir tried to shake his head of the thoughts of prachi.
"Ok, you can turn off that music that you clearly were not listening to at all. We're in college now." Aryan was still irritatingly smug, as if he always knows exactly what is going on.
Ranbir quickly bolted out of the car and towards college, as Aryan called after him asking where he was going and he shouted back "PRACTISE". Ranbir was thankful to be rid of Aryan for a while.
It seemed even football wasn't enough to keep Ranbir distracted of Prachi's thoughts. The other team member's voices were almost a tiny background noise to him in comparison to the volume of his own thoughts. He wasn't even playing at this point, just aimlessly dribbling the ball slowly across the grass, easily having it snatched from him by the other players. The only thing that then broke Ranbir out of the train of his Prachi-induced, zombie-like trance was a loud yelp not too far off from where he was stood.
"PRACHI!!!"
Hey guys! This is only the first part to my new Pranbir FF. I had an idea that I had discussed this week in the comments of my first ever pranbir FF, but when thinking of how to start it, I really felt like it needed to be built up with more detail with this first part before getting to the main part of the pranbir ff that will be in the second part of this ff where Ranbir experiences sexual tension around Prachi as he recalls the incident from the first ff where he gave Prachi a head massage and enjoyed the closeness to her. I will update this FF with the second/ main part of this ff sometime this upcoming week/ weekend.
After i have written and posted the second part of this FF, I will start work on the office one I had mentioned I wanted to try in the comments of my first Pranbir ff.
