Introduction

Arjit Taneja has decided to leave KumKum Bhagya in order to move forward and grow within his career. We would like to take this opportunity to show appreciation of Arjit Taneja and for his potrayal of Purab Khanna.
It has been over two years he came, he was a beginner, he grew, he conquered millions of hearts within short span of time and he was loved and is still is loved as the first and original Purab Khanna.

Purab is a kind, generous and a responsible man who is selfless and loves his wife Bulbul, Pragya, Abhi, Aroras and Mehras to bits. He is extremely close to both Mehras and Aroras and is considered as a family to both and towards Mehra's since childhood . Other than having chaachi, chaacha and two cousin sisters Mehras are the only family he has until the day he met Bulbul, fell in love, got married and is the best damaad and devaar to the Aroras and Praya and he adores and ships AbhiGya to the maximum.
Purab has gone through ups and downs within the two years, from falling in love to fall outs to making up and making new bonds. Arjit has excelled in all sorts of expressions whether it's happy, sad, frustrated, in tears, angst, smiling, laughing, bewildered, amused or in thinking detective mode. The collage are just a few of his expressions to be precise.

Top Moments of Purab

1) When Purab offers Bulbul a ride!

When Bulbul has no means of transport to go back home from work, she
decides to walk home. However, she starts getting followed by a group
of intoxicated men and when she thinks the car stopping in front of
her way is another "gunda," she decides to give him a piece of her
mind...except that it turns out to be Purab, offering her a ride, being
her knight-in-shining armor. "Tumhe lift offer karta hoon toh tumhe
lagta hain mein line marra hoon. Door se madad karta hoon toh tum
kehti hoon help nahi kar raha. Tum chahti kya ho??"

2) When Purab stopped the elevator and confessed to Bulbul!

It was a love-hate relationship, but our hero very quickly realized
that his feelings for the girl that drives him crazy was nothing but
pure love. And he took no time to share his feelings to Bulbul, who
was stunned. The best part of the scene, even more than the
confession, was when Bulbul ran away in nervousness and Purab ran
after her, reaching the elevator just in time to stop her and get her
to reciprocate her feelings for him as well! A memorable moment for
all Rabul fans indeed!

3) When Abhi needs help in winning back Pragya & Purab comes to the rescue.

When Abhi gets saved from a Tabhi wedding at the mandap by Pragya, he
realizes he still has feelings for Pragya and wants to win her back.
The first person he shares this realization with is his BFF Purab, but
in his over-excitement, not only explains how he wants Pragya back,
but also starts re-enacting some recent intimate moments they've had
with Purab! This scene comes on the list for both Abhi and Purab's
crackling bromantic chemistry that is hilariously portrayed by both
Shabir and Arjit!

4) When Purab helps glam up Pragya to make Abhi jealous.

If anyone ships Abhigya harder than Bulbul, its Purab. And he never
leaves any stone unturned to bring them back together. When Pragya
confesses her feelings to Abhi and Abhi doesn't know how to respond
back, Purab steps in to play matchmaker by trying to bring Abhi's
oblivious feelings up to the surface. He signs Pragya as the next
model in Abhi's music video, helps her glam up and then casts a hot
male model to be costarring opposite her. And though the plan doesn't
work exactly as expected, we do get to see an uncomfortable Abhi not
being able to watch his wife be romanced by someone else! Cutest part
of this whole memory is when Pragya is being shown skimpy outfits and
she feels uncomfortable, so Purab steps in and hollers at the
designers for bringing such disastrous outfits in front of the
Rockstar's wife! :)

5) When Purab saves Bulbul from Neel

Bulbul needs a new job and Purab helps settle a meeting for her with a
distant friend who works for the government. Much to his
disappointment, Bulbul urges that she can handle the meeting herself
and that he doesn't need to accompany her. But once she lands up in
his loft, she realizes that her appointment is with none other than
Neel, a corrupt corporator who has had his eye on Bulbul in the past.
Neel tries to force himself on her, but bae, being bae, reaches the
places just in time to protect Bulbul and give Neel a piece of his
mind!

6) When Purab didn't let Bulbul get defamed at Puliyah's engagement

To save Abhigya's marriage, Rabul thought it was best if they go along
with Abhi's misunderstanding and Purab get married to Aliyah, in hopes
that maybe Abhigya's marriage will be saved. However, though Aaliyah
was still getting what she wanted ie. Purab, they also took every
opportunity to try to publicly humiliate Pragya along the way. This
time around, they had hidden Puliyah's engagement ring in Pragya's
clutch, which Bulbul was carrying around, creating a chaos later in
the party and asking Purab and Abhi to search everyone's purses for
the ring. While Abhi was in cahoots with Taaliyah was hoping his
"gold-digger" biwi would get publicly defamed, Purab found the ring in
the clutch Bulbul was holding, didn't need any explanation to know
that this was a trap by Taaliyah, and much to Taaliyah's anticipation,
announced there was no ring found from the clutch. While Abhigya were
trying to swim in a sea of misunderstandings about each other, it was
great to see the trust that Purab had in his love and the respect with
which he tried to protect her against his evil fiance. :)

7) When Purab brought an "I'm sorry" card for Pragya Di.

When Purab became a full-fledged member of Daadi's team in trying to
expose Taaliyahkil, he left no stone unturned in trying to help Pragya
in any way that he could, even if that meant breaking a few rules to
expose the devils. However, when he and Akaash take a step too far and
try to break into a lawyer's office for evidence in the middle of the
night, it takes Pragya and then Abhi and then even Daadi to stop by
and help them from getting arrested. Thinking that he disappointed
Pragya for trespassing her established rules of not getting in
trouble, he brings flowers and a card apologizing to her the very next
day, worried that she might be angry on him. Purab and Pragya's
relationship is one of the strongest and greatest sibling bond in KKB
and this was a treat to see their exchange of love and concern for
each other, beautifully enacted by Arjit and Sriti respectively.

8) When Purab tries to save Abhigya from Taaliyakhil after Lovanla

When Purab is the first to find out that Taaliyahkhil have manipulated
with Pragya's car in some life-threatening way, he tries everything he
can to get in touch with Abhigya before they get into the car. Not
aware of Abhi already driving Pragya's car to get him and his Fuggy
breakfast, he cautions Abhi about Taaliyahakhil's new plan and asks
him to promise he won't let himself or Pragya sit in the car. Abhi,
now realizing he's not in control of the brakes in the car, thanks
Purab for being such a wonderful friend to him and for always being
their for Pragya, and in one of the most emotional sequences between
the two friends, asks Purab to promise him to always be there for her
no matter what. There was a single viewer that wasn't in tears at such
an emotionally packed scene between the two brothers.

9) When Purab beat up Neel...again.

During round of an almost-Rabul marriage, Bulbul is on her way home to
get dressed for her mehndi when she spots Neel chatting with a few
friends on the road. Being rash in decision-making, Bulbul tries to
run him over for kidnapping Abhigya, but it only leads to her getting
into a major accident. As she's rushed to the hospital, Neel also
comes to visit and check up on her, which enrages the family,
especially Purab. This was one of the rare KKB sightings where a
villain was getting beaten up by one of the KKB leads for their
misdeeds and Arjit portrayed the angry young man to perfection!

10) When Purab comes to Pragya's rescue

If anyone ships Abhigya harder than the elders, its Purab. He's
extremely loyal to both of them and is always there for the two in
good times and bad. Abhigya are always amidst a sea of
misunderstandings and Purab is probably one of the most proactive
member of the lot who tries to iron out their misunderstandings. One
example is when Abhi is told by Tanu that Pragya is bragging to other
guests at the welcome back party of how she kissed the Rockstar. Abhi,
without giving her a chance to speak, bursts out on Pragya and says
words that leave Pragya upset and disheartened. Thankfully, Purab
doesn't let the misunderstanding drag and comes in as a savior, not
only explaining how Pragya had performed CPR on him, but how he's
always harsh on her when all she does is care for him. Nice job Purab!

11) Rabul's phone call with Sarla while escaping goons

In one of the funniest KKB episodes, Purab and Abhi are trying to save
Pragya and Bulbul, who have been kidnapped by Raj and his goons.
Unfortunately, not only Abhirab, but the whol Mehra family and Raj
reach there too, all trying to escape with the bags of money stolen
from the Raavan event. While trying to hide from the gunday, Rabul get
a worried call from Sarla, asking their whereabouts. This scene was
one of the best portions of the episode, where Rabul make one of the
gunday stop and wait until they finish their phone call with Maa!

12) Purab flirting with Aalu

When ML Abhi goes out to coffee with his two favorite people, Aaliyah
and Purab, he's not aware of how Puliyah's friendship/equation has
soured over the years. Pragya, on the other hand, wants to come get a
glimpse of her man from the distance without being creepy, and asks
for Purab's help. Purab thinks coming to the coffee shop with Abhi is
the perfec way to help Pragya di, but doesn't know what to do when
Aalu accompanies them last minute. Just when Aalu is about to turn and
see Pragya standing in a corner, Purab turns on his charm factor and
with much reluctance and difficulty, tries to flirt with Aalu to keep
her distracted, which works like a charm :)

13) Abhirab Bromance Part Two

Adding along to the list of bromantic scenes from Abhirab, one of the
cutest scenes was when Purab comes rise and shine to MM on Abhi's
birthday with a huge bouquet to wish his buddy. However, when he
reaches up to Abhi's room, he notices a half-eaten piece of cake and
some candles, realizing he's not the first one to wish Abhi on his
bday. Taking the opportunity to pull his leg, Purab snuggles close to
Abhi and Abhi, still half-asleep, pulls him in closer and starts
talking to him as if he's Fuggy! "Fuggy, tumne daari kab se rakh li?"
Of course Abhi later woke up quite embarrassed, asking "Maine tumhe
kiss toh nahi kya na?" in panicked voice. But trust Shabir and Arjit
to bring out lots of energy and fun to their scenes together!

14) When Abhi and Purab Fought it Out

Its hard to believe that the first 100 episodes or so, we saw the same
Abhi and Purab as estranged BFFs, where Abhi thinks Purab cheated him
and his sister, Aliyah, with whom Abhi had fixed Purab's marriage
years ago. When Abhi can't believe that Purab could possibly love
someone else, Purab tries to explain to Abhi that he was never in love
with Aliyah. But not getting a chance to explain, enraged Abhi spills
out all his anger slap after slap. Add to the emotional blackmail that
Aaliyah tries to intervene with, only making Abhi angrier. However,
this comes in the top twenty because of the intensity of the scene
that both Shabir and Arjit brought to the scene! One could not only
see the frustrations on both the friends' faces, but also the hurt and
the pain they had while fighting. Must watch!

15) When Purab Runs Away from the Alter

When Purab finds out that Aliyah and Tanu still plan to get Abhigya
divorced immediately after their wedding, Purab realizes there is no
point in getting married to her if Rabul's sacrifice won't bring a
happy outcome for Abhigya. So much to everyone's disappointment, he
runs away last minute and tries to convince Bulbul they get married at
the nearest temple. Of course, things go haywire all over the place,
including Sarla Maa suffering from a heart attack. Abhi is ready to
break all ties from Pragya, thinking she's the one who helped Purab
run away from his wedding with Aalu, and its Purab and Bulbul who
finally let the cat out of the bag. Abhi doesn't take the truth in the
greatest way, leading to another physical altercation with Purab. And
finally, when Rabul finally reach the hospital to see Sarla, Aalu
intervenes and tries to choke Bulbul to death, ultimately resulting in
a whopping chammata by the knight in shirwani armor, Purab. Actions
galore, but kudos to Arjit for being able to stand on his own with
experienced/seasoned actors and shining as the exasperated, drained
but protective Purab!

16) All Rabul Scenes

Sorry, we couldn't pick one! Rabul were definitely one of the most
loved and optimistic/positive points of KKB and they will forever be
missed as the totally-in-love couple/biggest Abhigya shipper yet!

17) When Purab proves Vijay is a fraud

When Vijay comes to town on behalf of Taaliyah and Raj to kill off
Pragya, everyone around the house, including Abhi, start to think
there is something more going on between Pragya and the new decorator.
As always, when Pragya gets accused, everyone gets mum and forgets
they have a voice to come in her defense...except for Purab. When Tanu
is screeching at the top of her lungs at how "characterless" Mogambo
is, Purab comes in and stops her speech exclaiming "Ab itna bhi mat
bolo ke khud kuch kehne ke layik hi na raho"/ (Now don't speak when
you yourself are not able to live upto those words). Not only does he
prove that Pragya is not associated with Vijay, but almost brings
Taaliyah into dangerous waters when he asks Vijay to speak up who paid
him to kill off Pragya.

18) Purab wants Abhi to give Pragya one more chance

Abhi is enraged when he sees an MMS-leaked video of Pragya and Suresh
and doesn't want anything to do with her. He asks her to leave, not
wanting to listen to her side of the story or to give her a chance to
explain. Its when she's leaving with her suitcase that Purab enters
the house and demands that Pragya be given a chance to prove her
innocence. Not only then, but throughout the whole MMS track, though
Rabul are still not together, Purab is there to give his full support
to Pragya and, still being loyal to his bff, trying to help her see
the good side in Abhi while trying to save their marriage.

19) Purab helps Abhi realize its L.O.V.E.

When Pragya finally confesses to Abhi that she's in love with him,
Abhi is speechless to say the least. He doesn't know what to say to
her, as he's grateful to her for saving his life, but isn't sure
whether he really wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Rabul
come in to play matchmaker for Abhigya, but everytime that Abhi is
close to admitting he more than just likes her, he takes back his
words saying he was "just acting" or "didn't mean it," leaving Pragya
heartbroken. So Purab decides Abhi needs a reality check and explains
to him that he can't take so much time just waiting around for his
feelings to mature for Pragya, as "one day when you'll finally want
her, she'll be gone." He further asks his buddy to close his eyes and
just check who he sees first...who is it that he really loves. And much
to Abhi's surprise but not ours, Abhi can only see Fuggy, Chashmish,
his Pragya. And he finally realizes that he also LOVES her!! So Purab
ka credit toh banta hai, na? :)

20) The best damaad

Yes, Abhi's probably maybe the favorite Arora damad, but when it comes
to who's always there for them, its definitely Purab! Whether it be
when he was getting married to Aliyah or after Bulbul died, Purab has
been there for the Arora ladies at every point that they could
possibly need him. Their personal driver, the person they vent out to,
the person they look towards when they're in trouble, the person who
has never doubted them, the person who has never needed proofs to
believe them-ITS PURAB!! The love and care that he and the ladies have
for one another exuberates onscreen and even offscreen and their
strong camaraderie will surely be missed!

Purab fell in love with the beautiful and bubbly Bulbul even before he realized it. He had been avoiding he forgot the commitment that he gave to his best friend Abhi that he would marry his sister. When it came to light, he lost both - his best friend and his love.

He was so lost that he couldn't think of living without his love but then he got a chance to prove his love by leaving his love forever. He agreed to marry Aliya for Bulbul's happiness which lied in her sister Pragya's happiness due to a misunderstanding that occurred which led his bestfriend marrying Bulbul's sister. A person who couldn't force himself to marry a girl other than Bulbul and who ran away from his marriage because of that, agreed to part ways with the love of his life because she didn't want to be separated from her mom. He could break any promise but couldn't do anything against her happiness.

Initially, the show had given us hints of Suresh and Bulbul to be a couple but because we feel that Purab and Rabul's popularity among the fans probably made the makers change their mind. RaBul didn't have much scenes as the show progressed as parallel leads and even in the small amount of screen space, it wasn't about themselves. But it didn't stop them from being cute and popular, did it?

Rabul live up to the quote - 'The real test of love is not ending up being together but letting your lover go for the sake of his happiness at the stake of your own happiness.' They can go do anything that they could stop the other person from being unhappy.

What makes Rabul's love story 'special' is that they didn't let anyone between them. There was not an ounce of misunderstanding trying to separate them except in the beginning when Bulbul found out that Purab was committed to marrying another woman - Aliyah. After the issue was sorted between Purab and Bulbul, there was no looking back. They understood each other very well and were always supportive. Their wedding preparations halted twice by one or other happening but they didn't give up hope and believed in their love.

They finally got married in a jiffy by Bulbul's sister Pragya. But their happiness was short lived as Bulbul soon met with an accident while saving Pragya which ended up reconstructing her face. After hearing Tanu and Aliya's poisonous words, Bulbul worrying that Purab would agree to be with her out of his love and duty but it would be painful for him to live with her because of her face committed suicide thinking that she can't do good to him if she lived. However Bulbul's death is not completely clear as the cops couldn't find her body. She might come back to the show one day.

What made Purab unique is that he not only stands for his love Bulbul but also considers her family as his family and supports them in their tough times. Even after Bulbul's demise, he considers her mother as his mother, her Daadi as his Daadi and her sister as his sister. He continued to support them like a son. His love for Bulbul always stays in his heart.

Purab wakes up from sleep as his phone rings

Purab: Hello

Abhi: Purab, Come to my home in an hour

Purab: Why?

Abhi: Just come. Bye

Purab: But Abhi... Hello *call gets cut*

Phone rings again after 5 minutes

Purab: Hello Di

Pragya: Hello

Purab: Why are you calling me at this time? Is everything okay?[/CENTRE]

Pragya: I want to tell you something

Purab: What happened?

Pragya: Come to my home in an hour.

Purab: Why? What happened?

Pragya: Just come

Purab: But Di, Abhi has asked...

Pragya: I don't want to hear anything. Bye

Purab: Di.. *call gets cut*

After 10 minutes, phone rings again

Purab: Hello!

PA: You have to go to Delhi immediately.

Purab: Why?

PA: That new client. He wants to see you as soon as possible.

Purab: What happened?

PA: He is not telling any reasons but he seems to be seriously wanting to meet you immediately sir.

Purab: OK. Then book me tickets for tonight...

PA: Actually sir, I already checked flights today. Tickets are available in only one flight, sir.

Purab: Flight departure time?

PA: 1 am sir.

Purab: What?

PA: What happened Sir?

Purab: I have some work. Book me a ticket in some other flight.

PA: But sir, the client wants to meet you ASAP and this is the only flight available immediately.

Purab: No other flights from Mumbai to Delhi? How is this possible?

PA: Shall I forward the schedule to you sir?

Purab: No need, just book whatever is available.

PA: You mean that 1 am flight sir?

Purab: Haan Haan 1 am 1 am *cuts the call*

Purab thinks what to do? After few seconds Purab gets ready, goes out of the room and sees that the room is dark, then tries to turn on lights but they are not working. Purab checks the time, its already 11:58 pm.

Abhi, Pragya, Sarla Maa and everyone else: *shout* SURPRISE!!!!

Purab: 😲

Everyone else: 😆

Purab: What are you guys doing here?

Everyone: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🥳

Purab: 😃

Everyone sings Happy Birthday song

After the celebration,

Abhigya start fighting.

Purab: What happened?

Abhigya: Nothing

Purab: Atleast tell me now

Abhi: She says that you got ready to go to her house.

Pragya: And he says that you were going to his house.

Purab: Well... Actually, I was going to the airport. I have to catch a flight. 😕

Everyone: 🤣

Rockstar Daadi: Shall we have a cough syrup party now?

Sarla Maa: Why is everyone bothering him now? *holds his hand* Happy Birthday Beta *Purab hugs Maa* Now, look at him. His face is full of cake. How will he go to the airport like this?

Purab: goes to clean his face and comes back.

Abhi: This Chashmish bhi na. Let me help you Purab.
