Drabble Series: Journey of Abhigya #10

Purab: Leave it.

Abhi: What do you mean by leave it? Tell me

Purab: *confused whether to spill the beans or not* *thinks about Daadi's words and feels it might be risky* I am telling na leave it.

Abhi: Why?

Purab: Why do you want to know about her past?

Abhi: Past? What do you mean by her past? She is not married now?

Purab: Why do you want to know?

Abhi: *backs off* Because... Because... nothing leave it.

Purab: OK. It's getting late. Daadi would be worried for you. We should go now.

Abhi: OK. Fine. Let's leave.

Both of them reach MM. Purab leaves Abhi in his room asking him to sleep well and not to think about anything too much. Abhi is being restless about Pragya's marriage. He wonders why she was not wearing MS, Kumkum and didn't show any signs of being married and wonders what's the mystery behind her marriage. He sleeps after some time.

Next day,

Love Life Music Company Reception,

Abhi: Hello Pragya,

Pragya: *surprised that he calls her Pragya* Hello Sir

Abhi: Coffee...

Pragya: I will go and make...

Abhi: Hey, wait. I was about to ask shall we have Coffee together.

Pragya: But Sir, I have work, I can't

Abhi: *calls aloud* Where's the manager?

Saira comes

Saira: Sir?

Abhi: Your receptionist is not cooperating with me.

Saira: *looks at Pragya* What happened?

Abhi: I am going to the canteen. I want some fresh air.

Saira: *confused*

Pragya: You don't worry. I will take care. You carry on.

Saira leaves.

Pragya follows Abhi to the canteen. She sees him sitting and makes coffee for him and tea for her.

Pragya comes and sits on the chair opposite to Abhi. She gives him his coffee..

Abhi: *takes the coffee* Whats your name?

Pragya: *taken aback* What?

Abhi: What's your name?

Pragya: My name is Pragya.

Abhi: Full name?

Pragya: Why?

Abhi: You won't tell me?

Pragya; Pragya Mehra *bits her lip as she said Mehra instead of Arora*

Abhi: So your husband is a Mehra?

Pragya: *shocked*

Abhi: Why are you shocked?

Pragya: *tries to talk but couldn't*

Abhi: Is it because I know you are married?

Pragya: No, I am not...

Abhi: You need not hide. Purab already told me about your marriage.

Pragya: *wonders what Purab has told him and what should she tell him now*

Abhi: Where is he? *sips coffee*

Pragya: Who?

Abhi: Your husband

Pragya: I have to go.

Abhi: To your husband?

Pragya: *hurt* I have work

Abhi: OK. Fine. You might not want to share your problems with me. *gets up*

Pragya: *stands silently while looking at him sadly*

Abhi: *thinks he can't convince her easily* *wonders what to do*

Pragya leaves to the reception. After few minutes, Saira comes and tells her that Abhi wants coffee. Pragya wonders why does he want another coffee when he just had one few minutes ago. She goes to the recording room. Abhi sees her and thinks his plan is working.

Pragya goes to the reception and starts her work but somebody stops her.

Pragya: *sees the person's face* Aliya?

Aliya: What are you doing here?

Pragya: *tries to reply but Aliya grabs her hand and takes her to a corner* Leave my hand *takes Aliya's hand off her*

Aliya: 😡 How can you come in front of my brother?

Pragya: I didn't know he would come here. I just joined... *tries to explain her situation but stops as Aliya interrupts*

Aliya: I am not here listen to your stupid lectures or stories. *arms crossed* This is your love, right? Don't you know how dangerous it is for bhai? Did you forget what the doctors told? His nerves..

Pragya: *straight face* Your brother might have lost his memory but not me. So don't act like you love him.

Aliya: How dare you..

Pragya: *looks firm* How dare you talk about my love for him?

Aliya: *is taken aback for a second* If you know he is here, why didn't you stop working?

Pragya: *stands silently as she doesn't know what to reply*

Aliya: *tries to warn her* You know what I am capable of. Don't you even dream of coming back in my brother's life. I will destroy...

Pragya: *arms crossed* Actually, you are giving me a good idea. He has seen me and talked with me. Nothing dangerous happened to him. So may be I should let him know that I am his wife. I think he could take the news calmly as opposed to the doctors' claims.

Aliya: *gets tensed*

Pragya: *holds Aliya's arms* It all depends upon you. Now, he just knows me as a fan. If you ever try to do something against me or my family, the next moment he will be knowing I am his wife and what you did to him in the last 2 years.

Aliya: 😲

Pragya: Ms. Aliya, if you could excuse me, I have some work. *leaves*

Abhi who came to see Pragya in the reception doesn't find her there and then sees Pragya walking away from Aliya.

Abhi: *goes to Aliya* Aliya, what are you doing here?

Aliya: I.. I came to meet you

Abhi: But what were talking with her?

Aliya: *curious* with Who?

Abhi: With Pragya?

Aliya: 😳 😃 Oh, you mean the receptionist? I was just asking about you.

Abhi: 😊 Okay

Abhi goes to recording room and Aliya follows him. Abhi finishes recording a part of the song. Abhi and Aliya are about leave to office but just when they cross the reception, Abhi sees Pragya.

Abhi: *waves a good bye* Bye Chashmish

Aliya: *thinks* Chashmish??

Pragya: Bye Sir!!

Abhi: *goes near her* What did you say?

Pragya: *worries Aliya is near by and whether she told him something* Bye Sir

Abhi: Do you call your friend 'Sir'?

Pragya: *relieved* Sorry

Abhi: Now, tell me?

Pragya:

Abhi: Should I be waiting for you tell me Bye?

Pragya: *embarassed* Bye

Aliya: *standing far enough to not hear their conversation*

Abhi and Aaliya in car. Aliya thinks she should know what Abhi thinks of Pragya and what kind of conversations they have every day. She suspects Pragya to have been trying to remind his memories.

Aliya: *tries to initiate a conversation by talking about his music* Bhai, the song you recorded today didn't sound like the one you sang to me that day.

Abhi: Haan. This is a new one.

Aliya: Yes, it's new and the lyrics didn't sound like yours.

Abhi: Yes, you are right. The lyrics are not mine.

Aliya: What? You hired a lyricist? But you didn't tell me

Abhi: No Aliya. I didn't hire any lyricist. Chill. A friend wrote it for me.

Aliya: Friend? Which friend?

Abhi: Why are you so curious?

Aliya: No, I mean. You shouldn't be doing this brother. What if they create a problem later when the album is released? What if they claim rights for the lyrics?

Abhi: She wouldn't do that.

Aliya: She, Who?

Abhi: Pragya. You saw her? *realizes something* What am I saying? You were talking to her today na. Sweet girl.

Abhi and Aliya reach MM. Aliya goes into her room.

Aliya: What is happening? I can't let that Pragya come into my brother's life again. *gets a call from her BFF* *her BFF starts ranting about not meeting Abhi yet* *Aliya in anger blurts out what happened* *BFF starts her cries* *Aliya loses patience* *they share some stupid lines*

Meanwhile,

Abhi in his room thinking about the day's happenings with a smile on his face. Pragya with her RS Doll feeling happy that they have become friends.

Abhi comes to the company but finds Receptionist not present in her place. Asks the manager about her to which she replies, she would have come by that time but didn't come yet.

Abhi: *goes to his room but gets restless thinking about his new friend* *comes out to the reception every few minutes to check whether she has come* *after two times, he feels awkward to come to the reception often* *he gets an idea* *every 5 minutes, he calls the companies number through his phone but gets disappointed whenever Saira attents* *upset* *thinks she might not come today* *calls for one last time and puts phone on speaker lazily*

Pragya: Hello

Abhi: *realizes its her voice* *gets happy* *cuts the call* *waits for few minutes and rushes to reception*

Pragya: Good Morning!

Abhi: Good Morning 😃 Why are you late?

Pragya: Got stuck in Traffic jam... Sorry you want coffee?

Abhi: Why are you talking like I come to you just for coffee?

Pragya: *suprised*

Abhi: I mean we are friends right. Friends don't reason to meet.

Pragya: 😊

Abhi: I don't need coffee. I want something else.

Pragya: What do you want?

Abhi: Your number?

Pragya: *taken aback*

Abhi: You won't give me your phone number?

Pragya: Uhh... My phone... *stumbles* *her phone starts ringing* *its from her mom* *she tells her maa that she is fine* *cuts the call* *thinks what to do*

Abhi: *starts giving his number* Give me a call and I will save your number. *leaves*

Pragya: *takes her phone* *scrolls to his number saved on her phone* *thinks whether she should give his number*

Saira: Pragya

Pragya: *presses call button in a jerk*

Abhi: *smiles as he turns around and sees her looking at her phone* *saves her number*

After few minutes,

Pragya: *gets a call from Abhi* *looks around* *attends the call*

Abhi: Hello Chashmish

Pragya: *hears him tell hello* *smiles but forgets to speak*

Abhi: *looks at his phone screen to check whether the call is cut* *tells Hello aloud*

Pragya: *panics as she comes back to senses* H.. Hello

Abhi: You are taking a minute to say Hello. You made me wait like I was making a trunk call.

Pragya: *doesn't know what to speak*

Abhi: Why are you not talking?

Pragya: Nothing like that.

Abhi: *realizes people are waiting for him to start composing for the past one hour* OK Fine I will call later. Bye

Pragya: Bye *takes the phone close to her and smiles to herself*

Pragya sits in the canteen with her lunch box. Receives a text message from Abhi. Opens it.

Abhi: Hi


Abhi: What are you doing?


Abhi: Oh



Abhi shows up in the canteen.

Abhi: Is this Aunty ji's preparation?

Pragya: Yes *gives him the lunch box*

Abhi: *he takes a bite from the Paratha* Hmmm.. Yummy

Pragya: *sees him eating and smiles*

Abhi: *gives the lunch box back to her and signs her to eat*

Pragya: Takes a Paratha and keeps it on the lunch box lid and gives the lunch box back to him keeping the lid to herself.

Abhi: Just that. It's enough for you?

Pragya: Yes

Abhi: No. I will order something here. You should eat this. *pushes the box towards her*

Pragya: *stops him* It's enough for me. You like the food na. Eat

Abhi: *reluctant but agrees* *starts eating*

Abhigya finish their lunch and go back to their places.

During night, Pragya receives a text from Abhi.

Abhi: Good Night Chashmish

Next day

Abhi sees Pragya as he enters the reception area with his bodyguards.

Abhi: *winks and goes*

Pragya: *smiles*

Abhi is busy with his recording since morning. Pragya is waiting for him in the canteen.
