3) A TV channel will commission a serial from a production house and keep the serial on air as long as revenue is generated.
4) Apparently the Indian viewers love these "proved and tested regressive story lines". Viewers actually tune in to watch the serial when such drama or storylines are shown.
5) The Indian population is very large and there is a huge population that supports the viewership of Indian serials. Some for time pass, some lovers of 'distress of others' , some just for drama , escape from mundane real life, some hopeful romantic idealists who live for insignificant romantic gestures between protagonists. Though the only real union of lead pairs occurs at the end of the serial before it goes off air and some purely for discussion sake with friends and family.

The sad part is that prolonged exposure to such serials has long term effects on the mentality of the viewers. They come to believe its real characters and some behaviours seen on TV become acceptable.

6) Serials are not used as a teaching or reaching out media. It doesn't generate enough revenue to stay on air.

If you were a business person out to make a profit and this is a formula that generates revenue, what would you do? Its all about money, money, money.

But for whatever reasons for watching, members of IF who come to this forum like to discuss and express their opinions and interact with each other. Some feel euphoria others disgust. No one if wrong and no one is right. Everyone has their niche and find their own circle of friends.

Happy watching, reading and discussing.

Exactly everything is about money and entertainment not about lessons and deep good characters. And people come home from work or women at home turn on the tv to enjoy some time. People don't watch tv to learn life time lessons

Give the viewers a break. And writers, for goodness sake, you need to know when to stop.

I can't believe this show is climbing the TRP ladder. Majority of the characters in this show are already so annoying:

Abhi- The cheap good for nothing grandson and husband
Pragya- Is she really a college professor? What kinda of a role model, if any, can such a teacher be for her students?
Alia- Educated my foot. Her education taught her to scheme and scheme.
Sarla- Parents like her are the reason why kids suffer. And by the way, I am sick of watching shows where the lead actress has to tolerate nonsense so that her mom/dad doesn't get a hear attack.
Abhi's dadi- Someone slap this old woman so that he can wake up from her slumber and know the real face of her grand kids (Abhi, Alia, Rachna's would-be kid's father etc.)
Tannu- The useless good for nothing model.
Bulbul- still hiding the truth from her mother and asking Suresh to hide it too.

Oh well, the entrepreneur Ekta Kapoor churning one crap after another out of her trash bag, fooling the Indian audiences (they don't deserve any better, LOL), and continuing her crappy daily soap business.

I'm with you!!

Honestly! enough is enough! How can Pragya keep allowing this to go on?? when she very well knows the truth!

Abhi is just tooo much!!! 🤢🤢

His words and actions are SOOO abusive! and it makes no sense! honestly! i mean.. the fact that pragya is married to him.. btw.. did he even try to find out if his "wife" KNEW about Aliya and Purab?

How does he assume.. SHE was the reason who was the cause coming in between Purab and Aliya.

Were they seriously in LOVE? or was it just a promise made between them 3, regarding the marriage!

Does he even care. IF he claims to be Purab's BEST FRIEND and has so called "BROTHERLY LOVE" for him.. does he not care about what HE wants! how HE feels..! Sure, he broke the promise.. and whatever.. the girl he likes.. her existent does not make her be the reason for Purab to not like Aliya. She didn't KNOWINGLY come in between them! DID Abhi ever bother to find all that out?! Before jumping in the emotional blackmail story that his sis blabbed to him?!

And how can he continuously treat Pragya like that, without even trying to find out more about her! Whatever.. Ekta is just feeding us BS.

No intelligent person would do what Abhi is doing... this is just plain SICK and DUMB!

Also, even if he believes Pragya is to be blamed.. the fact that she is 'taken' by him.. shouldn't he now be all over Purab to marry his sis? I mean.. why is he not saying anything to Purab about marrying his sis, now? huh? Wasn't the whole purpose of him 'marrying away' Pragya to clear Aliya's way? Now that it is clear.. instead of trying to maker Pragya's life miserable.. shouldn't he be like.. "okay Aliya, I did what you asked me to do, married her..now you go be with Purab" etc..

this story seems to be just too lame and stupid.. just because.. it has a good star cast and good actors.. and sometimes, cute dialogues.. doesn't mean.. we dont care about how the STORY is going!

These shows are never about nuances. But about high voltage drama as they say. I would still say this show is better than the couple of other shows I watched in terms of treating the female characters, abusing males and the audacity of vamps.

I whole-heartedly agree. I've seen many people calling this show negative but given some of the shows out there this is still far better, at least when I take into account some of the shows I've watched before this one. At least this show doesn't have all out abusive male heroes (Abhi is still very mild compared to that lot) and even the vamps though scheming haven't reached a stage where they cross all limits; even the name calling is kept to a minimum (I've seen much worse). This show is much more breezy and light-hearted and if nothing else it's entertaining. And from the rising TRPs looks like the audience also seems to agree.

And it is kind of funny how despite all our laments about it being regressive we all still follow EK's shows, even go on to the show forums and discuss about it but still cannot stop ourselves from watching. And that's the truth, no matter how much we bash her shows we are still watching them, and in turn adding to the TRPs 😊. And it's not as if the sacrificing heroine - conflicted hero is only found in this show, every major Indian show out there literally thrives on this format. So all we can do is just enjoy the show as it is and not take it too seriously.
