Pragya actually well-versed in music?

Over the past few days, we have seen Abhi cut Pragya short at least on two occasions, not allowing her to complete what she was saying.

Occasion 1: During the engagement ceremony, when Pragya was listing out her educational qualifications and was about to talk more about her thesis for her doctorate, he cut her short.

Occasion 2: After Abhi and Shradha's performance, when Pragya complimented his voice but voiced her disapproval of "Happy Love"-type of songs, he tells her she wouldn't understand things related to music and walks away leaving behind her incomplete, "Darasal ...".

These two scenes, especially the last one, left me wondering.

It could be possible that Pragya is actually well-versed with music. Perhaps, she has received training in classical music. Perhaps, her doctoral research lay along the lines of her natural inclination towards music.

While I'm not particularly fond of the Abhimaan-type of storyline (a variation of which we have also seen in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai ...), there is still scope for Pragya to be shown as musically inclined and literate. How many aficionados of classical music would like songs of the genre of "Happy Love"?

PS: No offence to those of you who do like the "Happy Love" genre.

Good points! But I also think it's always a bad idea to tell a brainy lady that "she won't understand." That's like a challenge to her intelligence and she won't take long to disprove it! Let's see how Pragya shows that she is up to any challenge 😊

You know this would be awesome! I also have thought about it. Given Pragya has always been a responsible daughter, she perhaps never had a chance to develop her hobbies and talents. I would look forward to such a track.

Hope they finish with these stupid MU track soon and get into something more meaningful like this!

Fair point, dekhiki. It was a challenge to her intelligence. If Pragya were musically ignorant, do you reckon that one taunt at this stage would have Pragya taking up the challenge? I agree with you that if Abhi & Co. were to constantly throw such taunts at her, in the future, she will certainly pick up the gauntlet.

Yet, Pragya appreciation of his voice as a singer rang some other bells in my mind -- that she already understands the notes and won't need music lessons. Miss Bashful will just have to prove the Mr. Know-it-all wrong. But, if she is musically ignorant, I hope that she does prove to them that she is up to any challenge.

Ah, a like-minded thinker. That's what I thought too, Tia. She said that she had to pursue her M. Ed. (if I heard it right) for a job (well, in reality, you only need to clear NET or SET to teach at degree-level educational institutions in Mumbai... but, I'll let that pass). So, clearly, she has been practical at the expense of her own desires. Let's see where the creatives take us with this story.

I have to admit, though, that I'd prefer the academically-inclined Pragya to point out some *classical* faults in his music and thus showcase her knowledge. She doesn't have to prove that she is a good singer. She only has to prove that she understands music. Cliched, I know.

But, because this is Indian telly-land, we'll most likely have to make do with Pragya demonstrating her ability to sing. Cliched too, but very possible.😆

Hope Abhi helps her bring out her inner self, there might be a jealousy angle later, but if he indeed helps set her free it would be great. Yeah why MEd.. Also people don't become Prof. at such young age...they are called lecturer, reader, asst Prof. Etc. isn't it?

in delhi univ the first grade is asst prof. Then assoc prof .then prof. So there is no lecturer or reader now. Dont know abt mumbai.

Yeah that's the US system. But to be addressed as professor it takes a while. Until then asst, assoc are called Dr. if they are PhD. Anyways such details don't matter in these soaps.
