I think Sriti was the perfect choice for them. And I dont think that the casting is wrong. They wanted a simply homely and a sensible girl as Pragya and Sriti looks that part.

And honestly, from day one most of us had understood that Sriti is playing the less beautiful there. It was clear implicitly. Now for a segment of audience who aint able to discern all this implicitly. They are explicitly stating it thats all.

Have you ever thought that maybe they are just trying to show pragya's underconfidence about her looks and it was not actually a statement of fact about her look?

Most of us are that way, I am pretty sure that even the beauty Queens would have called themselves ugly. Maybe thats what it is.Maybe this statement was just to show that Pragya THINKS that she isnt beautiful and thats all.No need to create a hill out of a mole.

Actually the problem is .. Pragya is not supposed to be as pretty as bulbul. SO they gave her specs to wear as its a stereotype that girls in specs are not so pretty. Probably the cvs could have given her a look such that she actually looked average. sriti is very pretty even in thr pragya character so the dialogue was not suiting. The younger sister was supposed to be more beautiful.

I haven't seen the full episode but I would like to weigh in on this topic.

There is alot of discussion about Sriti vs Pragya and how the dialogue or comment about not being attractive was inappropriate or out of context.

I would like to share some thoughts on this - I am not trying to offend anyone's sentiments here.

Keeping the Sriti/Pragya debate aside - Pragya the character has been portrayed to be an under-dog. She's a lovely person but they show her to be the type of person who blends into a crowd BUT also the kind of person who will stand by you when the crowd has dispersed. People like that tend to be overlooked and taken for granted almost ALL the time.

Pragya's case is no different - her baby sister seems to get more attention from everyone else because she's "prettier" and more out-going and vivacious than Pragya - Bulbul stands out in a crowd because that is her personality - she's younger, she's cute and she's louder than Pragya.

For Pragya to feel like she is not pretty is quite natural - first (according to the promos) it was hard enough to find a suitable groom for her - and the one they managed to find - made it clear that he found Bulbul more attractive aka was settling for Pragya - thus saying that Pragya is inferior to Bulbul - what girl wouldn't feel hurt and wouldn't take that as a hit to their self esteem?

Pragya managed to overcome that hurdle with grace and maturity - because she is a beautiful person - and was hopeful about a future with Suresh whom she's known and is so comfortable with. When even he declared his preference for Bulbul over Pragya - naturally Pragya would be crushed. Its only natural for her to wonder if superficial beauty weighs more than inner beauty. I can also say from personal experience that I have been passed over for someone "prettier" and it really hurts - it really makes you question a lot of things and wonder if the beauty you see in the mirror is really not the world's definition - why is it that the world can't see what you and your loved ones see when they see you or when you look in the mirror.

I think Pragya's shattered self esteem and questions are totally valid for this circumstance.

am saying this coz i have some personal experiences in my family where there are two sisters with similar problems as depicted in the show...and it was a major turn off to see a beautiful girl like pragya saying that...

so far i really like the show but i really did not like pragya's im not pretty BS...

While watching today's episode I was thinking the same that why are the CVs making Pragya(Sriti Jha) say that when she is as pretty if not more prettier than Bulbul and even if it is the character that she is playing who is supposed to be the less prettier one, than a less prettier actress should have played the role so it would have been more convincing but saying that I do believe that an actor has to explore all the fields of acting so I'm happy that Sriti is doing that 😊

No U guys are not understanding ... There is a difference in being pretty and attractive. Bulbul is actually attractive. She is cute and sweet and bubbly outspoken. While Pragya is naturally pretty but she her behaviour is not like bulbul.not being bias here

Both are pretty but their is a difference in their nature

Imagine u meet a really bubbly girl with a really mature minded girl

Which one would u prefer to spend time wint

Here we go again...

I fully get that as per the story Pragya is not supposed to look all that pretty, at least not as much as Bulbul who along with her vivacious personality and young age comes across as more attractive to people generally (when in an ideal world it shouldn't really matter).

I guess the real problem viewers have with the whole "Pragya not being pretty " is that its not convincing enough. I've been watching Sriti's shows for many years and personally I felt that Pragya is among her more lovelier characters, looks-wise. And trust me she has been made to look plain or average before (just watch her in Jyoti). So if at all anyone is to be blamed its probably the costume/makeup department that didn't really work on what Pragya was supposed to look like as per the story.

I haven't watched the episode properly so can't comment on the scene, but a girl facing rejection time and again no matter for whatever reason is bound to think negatively about herself at least during those vulnerable moments. Now what would be interesting to see is how she recovers from this heartbreak and how her whole stance would be towards love from now on.
