PART : 1
Nidhi looked around the apartment for a hundredth time now. She was happy, she was ecstatic. Ashutosh was finally returning back to her after almost one week now.
From Banglore. She had missed him terribly, ached for him, but she knew that this was so necessary for his career. For his profession.
Of course, they spoke every day - whenever they managed to sneak out some time. His sweet nothings whispered over the phone made her blush and kept her awake on those lonely nights, when all she wanted to do was die in his arms and to spend all her living, eternal moments with him.
It was just one month but it seemed one whole year of separation for her. She just wanted him back at the earliest.
And now Ashutosh was coming back...Finally. She could almost feel the smile spread across her face. Her happiness was palpable. Even the Kaka and Baba could feel the burst of happiness all around them. They were highly tickled by the amorous endearments of this so-much-in-love couple, and wished the couple well.

Ashutosh arrived but he had to stop there en route to meet one of his senior professors who had played a major role in his becoming a Surgeon, and who was now recuperating at the AIIMS.
He was already on a direct flight to Lucknow and checked his watch impatiently. His impatience caught the attention of a cute flight attendant who hovered around him unnecessarily. Ashutosh flashed his simple cute smile at her, and shook his head slightly. The girl was cute but she had no idea who she was up against. His smile deepened and eyes misted over as the beautiful face of his wife smiled back at him, totally enveloping his thoughts. The one month separation had been painful for him as well.
'Oh my God' Ashutosh thought. 'I am so hopelessly in love with Nidhi. Never knew I could love her this much, and need her this badly.'
He was jolted out of his thoughts when the wheels of the plane touched the airstrip.
He was coming home.
Kaka and Baba decided to go on for a movie to give the love birds some time alone !!
Nidhi carefully arranged the food on the table. She had tried to prepare a few of his favourite dishes, knowing fully well that he would just nibble a bit. Ashutosh was not much of an eater when it came to his returning from long trips.
She looked at the watch impatiently. It was already late. Wonder what was keeping him for so long. He should have called already', she thought.
Dimming the lights of the dining area, she walked into the bedroom.
Walking over to the dresser, she looked into the mirror. She almost couldn't recognize the happy face that beamed back at her.
And then the doorbell rang...
