Clean India

What a beautiful phrase ,

To clean this wonderful country ,

When we look around ,

It seems as if filth is abound ,

People care not what they do ,

Spit and dirt at every street ,

From them it matters not ,

Who cares if the world can't breathe ,

For it doesn't belong to me ,

That's for the government to oversee ,

When we learn that putting our house in order ,

Is for each one of us to discern,

If we do not step out ,

It will be our world which will burn ,

The country we love is going down the drain ,

Wake up fellow Indians ,

We need to take this forward ,

Because it our life on the line ,

If you don't make the effort

this life will decline

The country needs your help

So come forward and do it yourself

I think, ab is desh ka kuch ho sakta hai

It is the first time probably that any PM is talking about and actually taking initiatives to address some very basic issues at the grassroot levels..

lets help n do our bit..

there is one more thing I wud like to share

As you know, I have spent a few years of my life in the US - so.. what hurts me the most here is that people here try to find excuses to fight/quarrel with fellow human beings (example - traffic jam has ppl screaming over each other, instead of helping out each other, veg. vendors screaming at customers for not having change and innumerable other examples - in fact go out of the house n u r sure to encounter some rude word or the other, esp. from the lower class of the society.)

we need to address this too - in other countries ppl smile n say 'hi how do u do' even to strangers, and open doors for strangers, extend such courtesies as a normal part of life..

why cant we? Are we so quarrelsome by habit or is something wrong with our dna?
