You are right Tupu.

When everyone is well aware of the otherside of the effects of this online sharing business, Internet is a delightful medium to gain knowledge.

I've filled those questions and the major answer coming out is a 'NO' , because I'm very conservative when I use internet, because I know about the drawbacks and even have faced a tragedy of this. Somebody tried to impersonate me on social site but I had taken legal help from authorities and then the real criminal was sent to jail for the crime. But I was still conservative that time too, but it actually shocked me because I never ever thought that someone will try to do something like that and sadly that person was none other than my classmate. But that incident made me more conservative.

Only few online friends know about my personal details other then what I do or what I'm studying and those who knew have very less knowledge about me and none know my personal number since I haven't shared with anyone on internet as of yet. Nor I will share it! I'm very cautious on using any chat apps and even dont have time to do chats haha!

a very needy and eye opening post Mudra ji. This makes me think that I need to unfriend many unknown peoples on social sites. :)

But regardless of what we say, this forum is unique , and so what we do not know each other by face, at least we are online friends and thats enough for me. :)
If keeping distance is giving us happiness then we should be like this instead of sharing our personal details. :)

Come to think of it, how many of us are extremely cautious about our personal information? How much do we care about personal safety?
Mudraji,i can't comment about KK's approach. But according to me I am very much aware for this. But not so much. But as for my personal liking and dislikes i want to share with my phone friends only and that's too with my 2AM friends

Here is a simple test. Just answer yes or no to the following yourselves. This is not an extensive questionnaire. But you can formulate few more questions in these lines...

If you answer yes to more than 4 of these questions... beware...you are getting exposed.

how many of us

  1. share real name with friends? No problem in sharing
  2. location details?All know[shayad]
  3. phone numbers (with your online friends)?Shared with only my close friends
  4. personal information such as our fears, tensions and depressions? With my phone friends
  5. personal mail ids?I have only 3 friends in my Mail IDs
  6. job details?
  7. family details?Personal friends
  8. you exchange photos, friends' contacts ..Very much special friends

These questions are only eye openers... as how do we know other person (whose personality we assess only through online interaction) is genuine? Just think, whether there is a guarantee that they are not passing our information to others..(even without any wrong intention)..

mail Ids / passwords etc are only 'man made' softwares. Remember a simple rule. For each and every security measure, there are minimum 50 loop holes to break it. Nothing you can call robust.

Your photos might surface elsewhere in someother (read obscene) way. It does not need a certified professional to photoshop your pics. Photos uploaded onto sites are very simple to download even if you donot share.

Please think of sharing information with others whom you have never met in person. Donot believe anybody from their 'social media- face'. You never know what is hidden behind this face.

Many times it is not necessary that the other person has a mal-intension. But every psychoanalyst agrees to the fact that, we try to pose ourselves with all those hidden ambitions on social network sites as these sites donot check authenticity. When the person himself /herself is not true ... how can you trust their intentions? How can you say they are not using you for their personal benefits? How can you say they are not misleading you under the pretext - that you have entered into this site with your own consent?

Please be aware! and please donot give a lead about yourself knowingly or unknowingly.

@Mudraji,i must say you are truely a teacher by soul. You care and informs us lots which can help us to be aware in forthcoming problem.
I am very much thankful to you for this post

Thank you alkaji.

This post is something like, we teach children not to talk / trust anyone whom we meet on the road!
Even if our friends are good, they may not be really very careful about things. sometimes things go out unknowingly.

I do share a lot but now have resisted myself to minimum... I do agree with you .. giving so much of details can be a havoc in this not so good world ! But its the trust that makes us sharing ourselves... What to do... sumtimes we feel carried away n start sharing... But your post makes every one to think again abt sharing so much.. !
Thanks a lot ! 😃

you are right Bawa.. sometimes we get carried away.. but it so happens, our friends also may not share our details knowingly... even if the situation goes out of control by someone's innocence also is a problem!
