I guess you have small children at present and hope you wouldnt mind answering few more questions that might make you think as a parent to a highschool /junior college student.

A very thotful post Mudra...some q that come to our minds frequently. Wud like to answer a few pertaining to my field😃

>>> How many of us really think that university studies are important and necessary for our children (here 'our' is a general word ).

>>> Is a university degree really needed for our children?
The importance of a university degree is ubiquitous. University degrees show elements of maturity, resilience and drive. Graduates with a university degree are often offered opportunities for better occupations and higher pay. In general, such a degree may allow for further advancement of one's career. A university degree shows that a graduate has knowledge in a specified field and can follow instruction, meet deadlines and be an overall asset to a company.
>>> How many of us are convinced that maths and science are very important and give more weightage to them than other subjects like language and History?

Yes atleast at the primary level all subjects r important. Our world is changing. Today, we rely on mathematics and science in ways we could not imagine thirty years ago. Innovations in technology help us communicate across the globe with ease through satellites, the internet, and cell phones. They also help us every day to work better and even pay our bills on-line. Advances in medicine and science improve our health and help us to understand the world around us. From balancing a household budget to preparing your taxes to following a recipe, mathematics and science touch every part of our lives.

>>> If the child(high school or lower) is showing interest in drawing / writing poetry /music..etc... how many of us are considering them as a main stream of studies and not a holiday activity?

Arts in India are living examples of its secular fabric and cultural diversity . It stimulates the body as well as the mind. By setting the senses in motion, it creates a memory, which sharpens the sensitivity of the child and makes him or her more receptive to other forms of knowledge, notably scientific knowledge. Furthermore, it develops individuals' creative faculty and directs their aggressiveness towards the symbolic object of their choice. But sad that we now live in times where our perception of arts stems from what we see and hear around us in the name of arts. We r bombarded with visuals from the Bollywood songs n drawing with sketches of Disney cartoon characters and theatre becomes a re-enactment of television soaps.

>>> What is our idea of computer gaming? Is it a positive thing or negative?

playing violent computer games may increase aggressiveness and desensitize a child to suffering, and that the use of computers may blur a child's ability to distinguish real life from simulation.

Time spent on home computers may displace other activities that have more developmental value

However the fact that playing computer games can be an important building block to computer literacy because it enhances children's ability to read and visualize images in three-dimensional space and track multiple images simultaneously cannot b ignored either. Also it requires a cluster of skills for children to visualize and manipulate objects or images in their minds which stimulates their logic n reasoning

So children shud b allowed computer gaming but under the guidance of the elders in the family

🤔 Oops too long answers I guess
