I think even the most hardened amongst us has been shaken by this tragedy. This nameless young woman has reignited our conscience like never before. By being nameless and faceless, she is.representative of the countless women who have been outraged and subjugated by male power! Apart from demanding that the government metes out immediate punishment to the perpetrators and ensures the safety and security of women across the country, we can all try and keep her memory alive in our thoughts. This way we will remember all those victims of violence and hopefully, within our own spaces, make efforts to bring about change. Because, in the long run, male perceptions need to change! Only then can we come by true and long term solutions!

DeathPenalty is too little a punishment for these beasts...they should be castrated, hands ,feet & tongue chopped off & then they should be thrown out in the cold to die a slow death.

In India, a rape is committed every 54 minutes...with includes minors, incest and gang rapes...we have failed and our system has failed...miserably...thats the bottom line...its not JUST the law that needs to change...its the IMPLEMENTING THE LAW...the perpetrators of this particular case have been caught. correct. very good police work. BUT

1. discussions are going on as to the process of filing the charge sheet. debates
2. arguments were held as to the CORRECT procedure of taking the victim's statement.
3. A politician asks how much money should be given to the victim as a form of reimbursement.

Is this the way to go about it? Its been more than 10 days! How long does it take to prove whether the accused have committed the crime or not? If the proof is there, why are their faces not shown? They should be plastered all over the country. Let everyone know how they look, what it is that they did and how they did it and what happened to the victim before the punishment is meted out. The law is protecting the identity of the victim but why is it protecting the identity of the criminals for so long? "Innocent until proven guilty" Does that mean you take God knows how long to prove their guilt? wait until this case also joins the ranks of one more statistics of this country? WHAT are they waiting for? for people to forget? I think this time people have just snapped.

WE WILL NOT FORGET. WE WILL NOT SHUT UP. I PRAY TO GOD THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN!!

agree with you Dr Babs...death is not the punishment at all...they should stay alive...their faces out in the public..and if they are under the misapprehension that they are "men", then that misconception should be slashed off once and for all...

Suja and Dr Babs, please pardon my language, but I think men, in general, need to be taught that their masculinity is not defined by the appendage that hangs between their legs and their power to do what they want with it. It is certainly not a weapon, as some demented perverts like these seem to believe!

Mouthing platitudes is no longer enough, apart from forcing the government to act, each of us, both women and men, should pledge to be a part of the change!

RIP braveheart.

Have read that one of the accused is a minor and he is the most brutal one among all.He won't get a strict punishment! It's shocking.
