In the show though, it was a totally different scenario with Dev taking that decision all by himself & dumping Sonakshi and then going on with his "Deewangi" to ruin her some more. 🤔

I actually really like that break up track just for all the angst it served. It was far from ideal but from a fiction perspective, I liked a lot of scenes in that track. And I appreciated the fact that for once, they showed a sane third angle (unlike other Indian TV shows). That apart, yes, the show would have been fantastic if they actually ended it as planned within 6 months. But that's the drawback of a show become popular on Indian TV because it gets extended and a lot of essence gets ruined. It was still entertaining enough to watch though & I could still root for Dev & Sona or at least pick sides. Right now, I can't even bash Sanjana because none of this makes any sense 😂

But even Shakespeare couldn't have saved the Ayush track because the concept itself was so impossibly ridiculous!

I still don't see Ayush as Devakshi's kid. I altered the initial few episodes in my head & now I pretend that Suhana & Shubh are Devakshi's kids and they have adopted Ayush.😆

Bold 1: Yes, it needed better writing and slower evolution. Perhaps they needed to give her a short backstory involving some history with Dev, then it would have made sense. Like she was his college mate, who used to have a crush on him at that time, and reconnecting with him, she fell in love with him or something. Something so it wouldn't look so weird that this whole thing is taking place in matter of few days. And also it would make sense that Dev, the private person, would bond with her.

Bold 2: You are my virtual sister in this!!! 🤣🤣✋✋

In fact, the initial promos actually indicated a mutual separation where both were in good terms even after that (what they eventually showed was far from that). I will try finding that article but yeah, the entire post marriage track & all the conflicts they showed later were added later on because Dev & Sonakshi became really popular & the show had decent TRP for a Sony show. Even Durjoy Dutta spoke primarily about the first 150 odd episodes in his interview

I would love to see that article, so if you are able to find it, please tag me!

Agree with everything you said. 👍🏼Couldn't put it better. Along with everything you said, I would like to add just 1 more thing.

The whole Sonakshi's infertility issue itself was a random plot added out of the blue to give Dev some quick fix redemption & assure the viewers that he truly loved Sonakshi because post Ishwari+pills incident, his behaviour had truly shaken up that notion.

After he threw Sonakshi out of his life saying she was not important enough, he never really bothered to introspect & realise what he did wrong. Let alone redeem himself. And he readily forgot everything he did once his mother gave him the "permission" to marry Sonakshi. He didn't even properly apologise to Sonakshi for the way he treated her. He was like.... Maa maan gayi so everything is fine!

That raised some serious questions regarding the sincerity of his "love" towards Sonakshi. Does he really love her? Or does he just say so? Sonakshi being infertile & YET Dev marrying her was makers' answer to that question. See he is marrying her in spite of knowing that she cannot give him a child. He is sacrificing so much to be with her! Of course he truly loves her! That's why that infertility track was pushed in out of the blue. Otherwise it didn't have any connection to the original plot & you can totally see it was not even developed properly. One episode Sonakshi randomly gets a stomachache & next episode she is infertile! All that was orchestred to make Dev look like the ideal husband material who loves & wants only her & doesn't care about anything else.👏

The irony is that they handled the resurfacing of the issue part so poorly that what was supposed to be Dev's ticket to redemption actually ended up making him look like an even bigger jerk! 😆After the revelation of Sonakshi's infertility issue, the way Ishwari & Dev, understand the influence of Ishwari, acted it was pretty much obvious that Sonakshi was actually better off not marrying him in the first place. And, if she was informed about her condition in due time, knowing how Ishwari is (& yes, also out of feeling guilty of not being good enough for Dev) she probably would have chosen not to marry him. Bijoy at least would have tried to stop this suicidal marriage & save her from the accompanying doom. But Dev decided to hide it, not only from her but from her family too. And in my opinion by doing that he actually robbed her of a chance to make a choice she was entitled to. Only to rub it on her face & mock her for it later! What a jerk (Dev)!😵 And what a mess (the writing)!🤪

Absolutely right. The writers couldn't ever strike the balance between Dev & Sona which they could in the first 100 episodes. Someone mentioned this & I remember someone telling this to me as well - KRPKAB was to be a show where the couple MUTUALLY decide to part ways because of their family. But what we saw- goddess ji popped a few pills, and Dev dumps Sona😳

After that, the writers made sure to please Dev lovers & Sonakshi lovers on alternate days. One fine morning, Dev comes & tells Sona that mummy agreed to get us together so let's do it, & Sona gives him a piece of her mind - Sonakshi fans happy. Then, Dev's mummy comes to manao Sona, & out of nowhere, she forgets about all her apprehensions about Ishwari & runs into Dev's arms - Devakshi fans happy. To redeem the blunder Dev made, Sona is declared infertile but Mr great Dixit still is willing to marry Sona - Dev fans happy. So that's how they kept the story moving forward, & that's why alternatively, devakshi kept getting butchered (Dev was pretty much a criminal at some point of time).

The show tried a lot to be different, & it could to an extent. But after a point, it just became too regressive, too negative for my liking. But like Sonakshi, I also continue to be in a toxic relationship🤣

We would never get the answer of whether she would have been as loving and welcoming if Suhana hadn't been there, but I do think she changed her opinion about Sonakshi to a large extent. Especially because she had seen Dev be estranged from her and finally come back once Sona came back.

I do think for a mother who was as involved in Dev's life as her, she would never be completely non-intrusive and non-interfering. I didn't approve of her getting involved in their pregnancy at all. Deciding to keep the baby or not, informing Dev, naming the baby, wanting to go to the hospital with them. I didn't like any of it. But that is about how far Ishwari could go: accept Sona. Stay out of their lives and let them make their own decisions? I don't think so, she never reached that stage and I don't think she ever would.

Just waiting for this S3 to end, so I can go back to S1! This was terrible 😒

This is what I hate when CVs choose to whitewash characters without any redemption. Ishwari's case will keep me pondering forever whether she changed for Sona-the-person or Sona-the-baby-making-machine. During the last few eps of S1, I got a clearer answer that she is the same person as she was during the infertility track - but a little more sugarcoated IMO.

What I absolutely hate is how Dev wasn't the first person to come to know about Sona being pregnant. Ugh, of course, maate knows everything😳 & she didn't even care to know the ACTUAL parents choice of name for the child😡 It felt as if Shubh is Ish & Sona's beta, not Devakshi's, lol.

This is a big issue that I have with Asha. I don't understand why Asha is hyped up so much as some ideal mother, because honestly she was not. She was that typical mother who advised her daughter to tolerate everything silently & always bend to make amends. Irrespective of whether her efforts are appreciated or not. Irrespective of whether she was valued & respected or not. She had this obsession with Dev & always pushed Sonakshi to be with him, regardless of whether it was good for her or not. She was never offended on behalf of her daughter & nor was she supportive of her. Post leap she actively joined Dev-Ishwari camp & literally bullied her daughter to forgive Dev & go back to him saying she was being unnecessarily sulky & stubborn.🙄

I feel, Bijoy is much better a parent than Asha was. But the fandom made a villain out of him & compared him to Ishwari because he was not swooning over the male lead & believed his daughter deserved better.

Perfect post! Exactly how I feel about Asha. Idk how people even called that lady "sensible". She fed Sona with the typical mindset which most girls are taught since childhood - be compromising, sacrificing, the more dayalu one, blah blah blah. Post leap, Asha's role in the show was to justify & glorify the Dixits, otherwise how would the story continue? After all, changing the ML for the sake of his love would be so demeaning to his male ego.

Don't even talk about the fandom, ofc they'd side with ultra pro max Dev supporters & spokespersons on the show - asha, ish, elena, manipulated version of suhana & golu. Lol.

Even though the promos indicated that they were keeping in touch after break-up, the way he broke up with her in the show, there was no possibility of mutual good terms. ☹☹

That means the whole premise is based on a compromised situation and not one of one’s sincerity. What if sonakshi still wasn’t able to become a mother at all? Would the ma-beta pair have still accepted sonakshi? For that matter I doubt would dev even have tried to give a shot at their relationship if not for suhana or would he have still kept taunting sonakshi’s inability to be a mother to hurt her where it does the most like he did in the farmhouse? Also what if suhana wasn’t the sorted smart kid like she is, but instead some spoilt kid, angry and resentful against her father? Definitely the ma-beta would have filed custody citing how sonakshi is an unfit mother, wouldn’t they? What if she hadn’t solved ishwari’s issues at all, then what? All these unanswered questions of what if’s definitely made the foundation of this relationship an unstable one for me.

A woman is an individual first and foremost. Her ability or choice to become or not become a mother shouldn’t define her. Isn’t sonakshi as an individual beautiful enough for these ma-beta is my biggest question…

Your questions are on point. Unfortunately, they aren't going to be answered because the creator made the show from DevIsh perspective. So anything they'd do will be justified at the end of the day.

Sometimes I really wonder if it was made from Sonakshi's perspective, how would the show be.. yeah, that's just my mind giving food for thoughts to myself every now & then😆

What this show turned a woman's worth into during & post the infertility track is baffling - just a walking-talking reproductive organ. And if this organ doesn't function on time she's worth nothing. Dev's "big sacrifice" out of love turned into a farce the moment he put his mom's unreasonable demands above Sonakshi's well being. Post leap version of DevIsh isn't even worth talking about. What boggles me even more is seeing people justify Dev & Ishwari. Is it that hard to see through the wrong & not let the line between shaheer & dev blur?

He had her well-being in every situation and the only one who could see through the ma-beta BS without any tinted glasses. The amount of bashing his character got was another level, just because he didn’t fall for the charm of dev dixit or couldn’t see sonakshi’s cravings for dev. Even sonakshi disappointed me with her outbursts at him in that regard, unfortunately she had already been totally a gone case by then.

My main issue with Bijoy was his tendency to go yell at the Dixits for every issue- in a lot of situations, it made the problem worse than it already was. Temper is putting it lightly, it was irrational anger and an unnecessary reaction, which only led to further misunderstandings. He felt the need to insert himself into every single issue related to his adult daughter, and would personally take it up with her husband's mother as if they were 5 years old.

In Ishwari's case- she raised her son to be an idiot, she wanted that he runs to his mother with every problem. But Sonakshi was raised to be strong, sensible, mature and independent. Every single day of her life, her father trusted her judgement and let her take her own decisions. At some point suddenly, he started inserting himself into all her issues, most of which she would have handled by herself perfectly well.

Being protective is valid, but babying your adult daughter, especially one that you raised to be intelligent and independent- it's an insult to her and your own upbringing.

Bold: This!! I was hoping for the Ayush track to be some scam which will be unearthed as some guy trying to get money out of the Dixits. Because Suhana was too much like Dev and Sona and this was established over a period of almost 80 episodes!!!!!! The instant connection that Dev felt, looking at this little girl, his expression when he finds out that she is his daughter, when she feeds him her sandwich and when she finally calls him Papa were amazing, to say the least! Dev always wanted a little Sonakshi, he said that many times. And when he tells Ishwari about Suhana, he goes into his own dreamland, saying how Suhana is a little Sonakshi. You could actually feel this thrill, his immense happiness.

And then they do this?!!!! This Ayush track? I am way too upset that they did this, and then just to make that kid the victim, they butchered Suhana's character as much as they could! This was the most idiotic creative decision they could've taken! I still believe they wanted to go another way, but wrapped the track up quickly. Ayush calling Dev Papa was quite lackluster, enhanced by how it was when Suhana called him Papa.

Ayush should've been shown as the twin atleast. Would've been convenient instead of the entire track being nonsensical
