It's truly sad.

The first ~150 episodes of the S1 are golden, then writing started become a bit incoherent and disconnected. But that's nothing compared to the train wreck that has been. Season3.

Ishwari's case will keep me pondering forever whether she changed for Sona-the-person or Sona-the-baby-making-machine. During the last few eps of S1, I got a clearer answer that she is the same person as she was during the infertility track - but a little more sugarcoated IMO.

What I absolutely hate is how Dev wasn't the first person to come to know about Sona being pregnant. Ugh, of course, maate knows everything😳 & she didn't even care to know the ACTUAL parents choice of name for the child😡 It felt as if Shubh is Ish & Sona's beta, not Devakshi's, lol.

I was taken aback by that too. This would have been the perfect way to showcase how things have changed in the Dixit household, how Dev-Sona are a couple, with their private life and Ishwari is the mother-in-law. I wanted to see Devakshi find out about the pregnancy and inform Ishwari.

Instead, she found out and she told Dev😳😳, I just couldn't understand why they would go this route! And it really bothered me that she didn't ask Sona's choice regarding whether she wanted the baby or not and basically was guilting her into keeping it. Even more, naming the baby! Not what I wanted to see, as the series ended. But oh well!

Unpopular opinion but I actually liked the fact that for once, there was an Indian TV show from an ML's perspective because every other show is from the FL's perspective on TV. But the difference was that while those shows use the ML as a mere prop & make the FL mahaan, powerful & Godly, this one had a flawed male lead with a perspective (right, wrong is different but at least had a POV) & an FL who is strong & opinionated and not annoyingly sacrificing. I think showing the story from Dev's perspective (the montage indicates that it's essentially about how Dev handles both these women in his life) helped show a strong FL (esp when you compare it to other shows where FLs keep giving preachy lectures & are doormats) & also not reduce the ML to a mere prop. It worked fine in S1 pre leap because I felt like none of the three characters were sidelined at any point (I had my issues post leap though). With S3, am yet to figure out what they want to show because first Ayush & now Sanjana (both badly written) seem to be the center point of the story

That means the whole premise is based on a compromised situation and not one of one’s sincerity. What if sonakshi still wasn’t able to become a mother at all? Would the ma-beta pair have still accepted sonakshi? For that matter I doubt would dev even have tried to give a shot at their relationship if not for suhana or would he have still kept taunting sonakshi’s inability to be a mother to hurt her where it does the most like he did in the farmhouse? Also what if suhana wasn’t the sorted smart kid like she is, but instead some spoilt kid, angry and resentful against her father? Definitely the ma-beta would have filed custody citing how sonakshi is an unfit mother, wouldn’t they? What if she hadn’t solved ishwari’s issues at all, then what? All these unanswered questions of what if’s definitely made the foundation of this relationship an unstable one for me.

A woman is an individual first and foremost. Her ability or choice to become or not become a mother shouldn’t define her. Isn’t sonakshi as an individual beautiful enough for these ma-beta is my biggest question…

I agree with you when you say Khatri was the deciding factor. Can't say for Ishwari, but in my opinion, Dev would have. In the first couple of episodes post leap, when Dev almost obsessively keeps bothering Sonakshi just to be around her, he picks fights and thinks about her 24 x 7, he's not even aware about Suhana's existence. He didn't care about what came with her, or Sona as the mother of his child, but the woman he loved. Loves.

He is bothered by Jatin's presence in her life, again not as Suhana's proxy father figure, but as Sonakshi's companion. His actions are inexcusable, but it stemmed from pain. Dev was always portrayed as a grey, ruthless, unreasonable character. Him lashing out at Sonakshi at the farmhouse wasn't out of disappointment at her infertility but disappointment in her threatening to leave. He wanted to hit her where it hurt most, and infertility was that spot.

In some way I think the reason that Dev never reached out during those 7 years was out of guilt, for the way Sonakshi was treated when she was his wife, for the way he's never been able to stand up for her. How would he look her in the eye and ask her to come back to him? Instead of introspecting and thinking about it further, he turned that pain into anger towards her for walking out him, for leaving despite promising to never let go. The guilt comes out occassionally as sarcastic retorts to Ishwari, but Dev had ceased to exist the day Sona left.

Even if Suhana had turned out to be a spoilt brat that hated her father, I feel like Dev would still have done anything to keep Sonakshi in his life in any capacity. If she gave an inch, he would take a mile and do physically anything possible to not lose her again- he wasn't even on good terms with his mother at this point.

We even see this later during Sonakshi's second pregnancy- Ishwari separates the two to keep her away from Dev's "negative energy", while Dev is in panic about the possibility of there being complications. He makes it clear that he doesn't even want another baby, as long as Sonakshi is safe- the sweet mime conversation from the window is such a memorable scene.

This ended up being more of an essay than I intended, but in conclusion I feel like Dev would've thought it to be a blessing if she came back baby or no baby. Ishwari hated her regardless of there being a child involved. She only even cared about Suhana because of Dev's happiness. For the first time in 7 years her son came home with a real smile, spoke to her, expressed genuine joy about having a daughter- becoming a father. Ishwari was scared that if Suhana were to leave, so would Dev's happiness. She was still unwilling to accept Sonakshi regardless of her fertility. It wouldn't have mattered if Suhana was a brat or a perfect angel, Dev would never have demanded custody because he cares about Sonakshi being there in his life as well, and Ish wouldn't have demanded custody because she sincerely didn't give an f about Suhana

What boggles me is how the makers managed to insert ishwari and her insecurities in every intimate situation between dev and sonakshi, be it the pre-leap pregnancy track or the post-leap pregnancy track, for that matter even the consummation. I mean seriously what were they thinking showing her get offended because they both spent the night together alone.

I still get so annoyed about how they shifted the whole focus to ishwari’s insecurities of being ridden of a grandchild in the first pregnancy track. I’m absolutely sorry to say something like this but her whole reaction gave me the vibes of the movie chori chori chupke chupke, only here she was deprived of the child after she had to go through the sacrifice of sharing her son with sonakshi. The naming thing, I think sonakshi was just grateful for being accepted back in their lives by then.

I get what you are trying to say from dev’s perspective even if I don’t completely agree with it, because for a person who would have been a blessing he surely treated her like shit. Since we both are in agreement that ishwari may not have accepted sonakshi if not for Khatri, let me rephrase my question - what would dev have done if not for the mentioned scenario? Dev has time and again proved he wouldn’t do anything that his mother doesn’t like, so how much of an effort would he have actually taken to bring sonakshi back in his life? I would like to say fight for her, but then I know that will never happen…

There’s one thing I would like to disagree though wrt Jatin-suhana. I think he was bothered by jatin being a proxy father, because in one of the episodes he clearly states how much he dislikes jatin’s involvement in suhana’s life and even goes further to forbid it. It’s sonakshi who argues with him otherwise and explains jatin’s role in suhana’s life.

Isn't it weird how they initially showed sona as being infertile and now she's a mother of 3 kids which is more than normal tv series mother's even real life mother's. People usually have just 2.

At the end when she decided to patch up with Dev just like that, without any apology from him, she just looked like an ungrateful daughter. As a daughter myself, I can never even imagine being with a guy who relished humiliating my father. Even after patch up she didn't demand that Dev should apologise to Bijoy or be respectful to him. In fact, even after their patch up, Dev kept calling him Mogambo, Mr. Bose & she didn't even object😳

At the end ultimately I felt bad for Bijoy the most.

By the time of second patch-up, except for bijoy the whole Bose family had fallen under dev’s spell during the saurabh-ronita marriage. By then anything bijoy said was considered nonsense or due to ego. I don’t know who humiliated bijoy more in the end, dev or his own family? I guess mostly his wife…

Even in yrkkh, Naira had fertility issues plus (kidney issue, leg surgery and brain clot) then too she gave birth to three children, out of which 1 died bcoz of premature birth. Atleast here sona gave birth to only two children and she didn't have these many issues😆 It's Itv aisa sab hote rehta hai😆

True like wats the point of showing fertility issues when they'll Deffo give birth ultimately. It's all to just drag the plot.
