That's because Dev's love is a paradox. He is selfish but at the same time he is also selfless, when he loves he unequivocally surrenders his entire being, body and soul to it.

Keeping aside my sarcastic nature which became my coping up mechanism for this show, it really really hurts to see our beloved characters getting killed bit by bit like this. I honestly feel that the damage they did to Dev in this track is minimal because its visible and we are still able to connect with his emotions to certain level, more over this is how they were playing with his character from ages. But from my pov, the damage they did to sona's character was way too much. There were times i laughed with her, i cried with her, i felt sorry for her, i felt she deserves much better, i felt like slapping her, shaking her to bring back in to sense, i felt angry with her, i felt annoyed with her BUT i never felt disconnect with her previously. At present, I am not able to feel anything for her, no emotions at all, she is looking like a alien to me.
For me the biggest disappointment from this track was how even after so many incidents one of which could have been disastrous Sonakshi was still emotionless, I know many may call her strong & independent but is it really that, does showing emotions especially before people whom you claim to love make you weak if you show emotions, I do not think so.
First the bus incident where Dev seemed more affected than her, I still could give her the benefit of doubt as maybe by not showing any emotions she was trying to be strong and show that it did not affect her, ACCEPTED. Then the time when Dev started becoming possessive and questioned her love, instead of understanding his POV she started on how becoming a mother now compels her to not show emotions, though I really could not understand the context of her statement still again gave her the benefit of doubt that she was never really expressive when it came to love so suddenly expecting her to do that would not be right, ACCEPTED. Then came the whole Vicky's truth track again where her better half was the worst sufferer and it could have been worse still no affect on her, again the benefit of doubt given as the things were of past and she was trying to move on, ACCEPTED. Then her rant on woman empowerment during Suhana's accident, though did not understand how that came into picture but still ACCEPTED as she deserves her independence & identity. I can go on but will stop here.
And instead what we get is another pravachan from Mata & Mahaan Bahu on how the love between them is different. And Dev is wrong. So back to square one.
Just my POV, no offence.
I agree with what you are saying. And that is why I am both confused and surprised of Sonakshi's answer. Which kind of threw me off. Hence wrote it here that maybe someone might know why she said like that.đ

Good that you expressed the doubt. Thinking of that only all the while . Could not understand what she meant. One thing is for sure. The nature of love though same differs in projection for each person. The two leads here are so different in feeling and expressing love. While I could connect with Dev I get confused of Sonakshi's love.

In additive color mixing, like light, all the colors combined create WHITE. Consider a prism and imagine the process in reverse. In subtractive color mixing, like paint, all the colors combined create BLACK. This is because you've effectively blocked all other colors.Isn't love like the light, which reflects and not like the paint, which absorbs. I mean love is called selfless(giving), which is giving and not selfish which is taking(absorbing). All the times Sonakshi talks about being selfless and even shows herself to be selfless. I mean she even forgave Vickky saying I am doing this for the family. It is Dev who usually says that he is selfish and that his love is too. Then why did she refer to love as "Black", when it is supposed to be White. Of these 2 who is selfish and who is selfless. I am confused. And what kind of love is Sonakshi's and what kind is Dev's.

I wish the writers did not take resort to this over posessive track boasting it as another colour of love. It is even more frustrating to show Dev as one who could not understand the difference between mother child love and husband wife love.If such is the case he should be shown like that in season1 also. Dev was never over posessive or insecure. Yes. He stalked Sonakshi during Ritwick track but that was because he failed to swallow the fact that Sonakshi is moving on.
Whatever time he spent with Sonakshi before the second break up he was decent, dignified and just right in every way. Then he never said that it is Iswari who taught him about love... Now even Iswari is claiming the same and Sonakshi is hell bent on teaching the difference between a mother son love and husband wife love... to Dev Dixit..They should have struck to the more reasonable explanation for his behaviour being Sonakshi's stint with the goons. Even then they made Dev prone to criticism by showing him interfere in Sonakshi's profession by setting up her office at home. How could Dev who himself is in the same profession think that business meetings can be handled at home sweet home? He knew business ethics and the infrastructure that is highly essential and the atmosphere that is the protocol for any business organisation to flourish. But CVs preferred to show him like a lay man who is obstinate to keep his wife home at any cost.Even if Dev worries about Sonakshi's safety he would engage personal body guards for her with or without her knowledge so that his purpose will be served.I am highly disappointed with this track that contributes absolutely nothing to the storyline.Latha..I agree we do connect with him when compared to Sonakshi still I feel bad for Dev who faced the heat of unwarranted uproar from the viewers for his excessive possessiveness. That Dev do not know how to differentiate between parental love and couple love is the worst trait attributed to him so far. It hurts a lot. God! Save Dev Dixit.Lakshmi
