I'm sorry his deewangee does not equate to love. He made an ass of himself at her engagement & she left everything to go to him. Her action spoke of deewangee because her family was insulted whereas there was no damage to the Dixits!
Playing games to make her jealous is not the way to go. He's a 36 ur for crying out loud. He seriously needs to grow up!
The problem is Sona's actions, which I think you are not considering. Sona said please don't bring up the chance of us getting together again. So how can Dev bring that up to Ishwari? What should he tell Ishwari... that Sona said there is no chance in hell. Would that not affect Sona and Ishwari's relationship just when everything was being sorted?
But he was planning on waiting. In fact what waiting.. he clearly said he would never give this position to someone else. So he was always going to remain unmarried and he was okay with that scenario. That to me is love in the biggest way.
He only agreed now because Sona tried to emotionally blackmail him. By telling him he was selfish to not get married etc. That part has to be addressed. That's not fair of Sona to do that. She can't have her cake and eat it too. She can't push him to marry someone else and then expect him to stand up for their love. Why is all the responsibility on his shoulders?
If what he has done is not good enough... then why was it okay for Sona to agree to marry Ritvick? Why didn't that disparage her love for Dev? If it okay for Sona then why is not okay for Dev? At least I know Dev is not going to consciously go through with it.
The problem with Sona leaving her engagement was that it was an unconscious reaction that she didn't fully own. She didn't come and tell Ritvik or her family that she can't marry anyone else. Ritvik made the decision by walking away. Even then it was only after Asha agreed that Sona accepted to marry Dev.
What I need to see is a conscious acceptance from Sona, at least to herself that she loves Dev no matter how impractical it is. What we saw from her monologue was that she truly believes she has moved on. That she doesn't love Dev anymore. So for me, before Dev can convince her that a relationship could work.. she has to accept that she actually does want it even when she is not sure its gonna work. Love is a risk. That's why love is so scary because it forces you to be vulnerable. Sona has always protected herself from being vulnerable in relationships. By being the "helper" she gets to keep the upper hand. But it doesn't lead to equal healthy relationships.
Dev has always been the one to admit his feelings. I guess to me the fact that its in private doesn't lessen the importance of those moments. There is no question that Ishwari knows Dev loves Sona. I don't really need to see him admit it to her because this is something between Sona and Dev.
