For me the highlight of today's episode was the dialogue "yeh abhi ka thoda sa dukh zindagi barki taqleef sey toh acchha hi hain" from Bijoy. A similar dialogue was said by Ishwari a few episodes ago to Suhana -- eh thodi si udaasi hi teri mamma ko na jeevan bar ki kushiya de jayegi. The saying goes "no pain, no gain". While Ishwari's statement is positive and saying we have to work towards our happiness, Bijoy is pointing out the negative and saying what is the use of following such dream where there is possibility of hurt. The sequence it reminds me of is 3 idiots when Madhavan convinces his father to let him accept the job as photographer while the father wanted him to be an engineer.
It is so true that we as parents want the best for our kids and in that process we forget that our kids are not us. I like something doesn't mean that my child should also like it and vice versa is true too. That there is no rule that I should like everything that my child likes. All we can do as parents is respect their choices, while asking the kids to do the same for us when they try to change us. I mean we need to have the tolerance and acceptance of each other and realize that we are different, but same in our own way.
I felt Sam's example of the crime reporter vs office job was very apt here and so clearly illustrated by these 2 parents in their own way.
But it is also making me think. Bijoy thinks he is showing the "right path" to Sonakshi by telling her that Dev getting married to a different girl is a good thing. And following that he will make sure Sonakshi will do what he tells her to do. Is Bijoy's "right path" for Sonakshi really the "right path" for her. Why is Bijoy so confident that he is right and that he is not wrong in any way. How will he see the truth? or will he ever see the truth?. In a way is Sonakshi ever going to wake up sort of and choose her "path", the one she feels is the one "right" for her.
P.S: One thing I noticed is the costumes. From recent episodes the clothes Asha, Ishwari and Soha wear have some reference to orange in them. Some times light, some times dark, but some shade of orange. Dev's costume has no orange. It started with kind of brown and is now grey, his favorite color from the beginning of the series. Yellow is Dev's favorite color which Sonakshi wore today.
In that engagement spoiler, not only Asha and Ishwari are wearing sarees that are prominent in orange, Soha's dress also has hints of orange. But what amazed me is Vickky's sherwani is completely orange. Even maami's saree is orange, kind of like a mixture of yellow and orange. Dev is wearing another of his favorite color blue, and Sonakshi too is wearing a dress which is light blue - grey kind of, both of which are Dev's favorite colors.
I am really liking the way CVs are using colors in Kuch Rang Pyar ke Aise Bhi. 😆
