@malika: The sad part about Ronita vs. Dev is that it has a lot to do with the way Bijoy views his two children. Dev wasn't good enough for Sona, his model child, but Ronita is too good for Saurabh, whom he considers a "failure." In his eyes, Ronita did them a favour by agreeing to marry Saurabh and Bijoy is grateful for it. But the very fact that his family felt the need to hide the truth of Ronita's family from him (the theft) speaks volumes. He is very exacting about the kind of people he lets into his family, but his standard of perfection is what ends up being most harmful to their relationships.

@BH2: I don't want to go too much into this discussion about Bijoy since it has been rehashed many times on the thread, but in short, no, I don't think Bijoy saw himself as a potential mentor to Dev. He always saw Dev as the unworthy man for whom Sona "left him," as he himself said during his and Dev's drunken conversation. As long as Dev's world revolved around Sona, Bijoy was willing (grudgingly even then) to concede that he might not be all bad, but he wasn't able to see that Dev had his own problems as well. He saw every action of Dev's as "for" or "against" Sona, which I think is unfair.

The way I imagine it, if Bijoy had really perceived that Dev was a young man, struggling with new experiences, and reached out to him, there was a wealth of advice and guidance he could have offered, i.e. helped him be a better husband instead of berating him for being an amateur, or seeing him like the enemy. As I have said before, I understand where Bijoy's fears come from. What I am saying here, is that he could have done so much more for Devakshi if he weren't acting from fear.

When I said romance, I didn't just mean romantic love, I meant a love for adventure, mystery and all things which are not common place. While Bijoy favours a more quiet and stable life, both of his kids crave that excitement and departure from the ordinary. Saruabh never felt comfortable in a normal, 9-5 job. He wanted to be an entrepreneur and he got mocked relentlessly for it, even when he found a success. Sona on the other hand, hid that love for adventure, fairytales, and prince charming in order to be Bijoy's ideal child, but that is still what she wanted, and wants, deep down. Bijoy sees the ability to mash these fantasies down and settle for the practical option as strength, but the side-effects include a dishonesty with oneself about one's feelings. Neither of his children are content with the secure and smooth lives that Bijoy envisions for them, even though he has their best interests at heart.

Amazing write up on Bijoy and you have hit the nail on the wall in regards to him. 👏 . The way I see him is that he has a high regard towards himself in the way that he is "perfect". This is based on his question to Asha in the hospital. He feels that he has led a fulfilling life and if his family members follow in his footsteps then nothing can go wrong. That they will also have a happy and fulfilling life. I also feel that similar to Ishwari, he held high hopes for Sonakshi from the beginning of the series and wanted her to achieve fame as the doctor. During Kushal track when Asha is talking about Sonakshi's age and that they need to think about her marriage, he asks what is the urgency. He tells that Sonakshi has just started her career and he wants her to achieve great heights in her profession. Even during Ritwick track he tells Ritwick that till then Sonakshi was not in a good job(working at IN) and that there was no growth there.

He expected Dev to make Sonakshi his priority at all times as he thought that Sonakshi was doing Dev a favor by agreeing to marry him. He always held Dev responsible for anything or anytime his daughter felt sad. Anytime Sonakshi did something that he didn't think she would do, he thought Dev or Ishwari were forcing her to do that. He assumes that only he knows her. Just like Ishwari he will also soon contend with the fact that his daughter is not as perfect as he thought her to be. He is also moving towards the phase where he will have to face reality in regards to his family along with himself.

P.S: Dev has reverted back to calling Sonakshi as Ms. Bose from past couple of episodes. Is this an indication that she will start disliking that name soon or that she will not keep that name for long. Just wondering.

Being the friend of dev is also creaking her up. When dev ask her what heppened he is her friend he can tell him.Her exoression was like my foot your friend. What you are saying is true very soon she is going to hate the miss bose and bestfriend tag. On the other why dev get agree so quickly is dev dixit become smart. Or he have a communication with his hot friend asha. And she guided him.

Sam, don't you think Bijoy was ready to act like a mentor? I mean he had sided Dev in Masoori track matter and had asked Sona and Dev to resolve their issues peacefully. He also threw them out so that they could resolve their issues without any interference. Moreover, he acted in a friendly way towards Dev on the dinner in Bose House. (We know Bijoy is straight forward and does not hide his feelings).

According to me, he always treated Dev as his son in law. Hence, he was cordial and amicable towards Dev during the Masoori track as well as their first dinner without any pretense. But he became angry only when he saw Sonakshi being hurt or unhappy or when he thought she was forced to do things(vrat and infertility).

When Dev told him that he was Sonakshi's husband and he knew his responsibilities, Bijoy backed off and did not intervene. It means he needed to be assured that no one would hurt Sonakshi and take stand for her when needed.

Moreover, Bijoy is not against romance since we have seen him being romantic towards Asha many a time. I mean he was happy when Dev and Sonakshi had scurried to the resort furtively. He was the one who suggested Devakshi to get close for the birthday picture as well. So he is definitely not against romance.

He is now against Sonakshi being romantically involved with Dev only. He fears Sonakshi becoming weak in love with Dev and in that process getting him and herself hurt.

But you are right that Sonakshi feels like she will become weak if she considers her feelings for Dev.

nice.. though a lot subtle.

Yeah Bijoy is actually a good guy wishing best for his daughter.

Wonderful post Deepa. 👏 👏 . Whenever I read such indepth posts, it usually brings questions to me. 😳 . Doubts that makes me wonder.

She has become lady Aubhodro Dev, igniting herself to give light to others, who better than you can know that pain? She might not want your help but when have you stopped caring for ones you love? Stop indirect proposals , you can't test waters in deep sea because you will drown too. She is neither independent nor strong just like you were not before meeting her 8 years back. Just like you needed her then, she needs you now. Look beyond her facade Dev..just look..you will find yourself in her which she is hiding successfully so far !!💔

In all this while, it is Dev who makes the utmost effort to make her happy, to tell her what she means to him, to please her, in short he tries to give her everything she wishes for. Shouldn't there be a reciprocation from Sonakshi too. Why should Dev try hard to look beyond her facade. Why can't Sonakshi be honest for a change. Why she feels the need to hide and always act like she is perfect. Why not embrace humanity and own up to being a human and say I am human and not flawless. I have many faults, but those are what makes me, me. Why is it so hard for her to even think that she can do something wrong or when she does do mistakes to own them.

Sorry for the rant. In one of the previous threads, I had asked Sam a similar question. Why is Bijoy so convinced that Sonakshi will never be happy with Dev or that Dev can never keep Sonakshi happy. What makes him so confident in his assumption. How truthful is his assumption. Just am wondering that's all. 😊

Shaavi dear...very sorry for such a delayed response I just got time to read the comments in my prev post ("Till the death of me") and didn't want to bump it to first page by answering there, so posting it here where you are frequent😆 Well by the time I answer your questions, looks like the episodes gave it for us... Sonakshi can never open up until she brinks to dangerous insanity level of loosing Dev. Its not about being perfect but about not being vulnerable. Its about not opening up that space to get hurt again!! She might act all stronger outside but completely meek and weak inside and her resistance is her only protection shield. This is not an act of a strong perfect warrior princess but an act of a vulnerable human who is resisting the obvious. Devakshi is programmed to be like this and when the equation changes, you can see that expected side of Sonakshi and this current remarriage track for Dev have opened those can of worms😉

Bijoy is a type of father who sees what he wishes to see and like every father he will hold on to his judgement until proved wrong with his own eyes. Till now he has seen only hurting Dev and Ishwari , even the new changes are giving him doubts which was validated by sulking Sona in today's episode, But am sure the day he realizes where his daughter's happiness lies he will be the first person to accept that !!

Wonderful analysis every one. Sam,Shaavi,...

I don't know why I feel really bad for Dev. This man certainly is ill fated. Just when he thought he can relax seeing the families finally move ahead overlooking past happenings atleast outwardly,he has to face another problem thrown at him by who else but two of the most loved and prominent women in his life.

For Iswari it is an essential thing to do as she feels she is capable of setting things right . She involved little Soha also whose heart I am sure will break when she faces the consequences of her Dadi's plan. How could the little girl swallow it? Even if it is for timebeing it will shake her from the roots. Surely Soha doesn't deserve such trauma ,not at this age. Already she ihas to compromise with her situation which is abnormal . I feel so sorry for Soha who won my heart within a short spell of time with her charming and dignified ( for her age) persona.

I wish Iswari should have thought twice before implementing her plan in association with Soha.

Apart from Soha Iswari 's plan if backfires,I am sure it will hurt Dev the most. He is so contented these days just to have Soha in IN and Sona finally achieve the impossible feat.I mean winning Iswari's heart and bringing change in her towards their relation .

To his relief the change for the better is for a lifetime but not temporary. But to his bad luck now he stands in a precarious situation that may leave him alone in his journey of life. I mean even if he remarries he can not have the mental connect with the other girl.Surely Dev can not risk his mental peace.

Had Sonakshi not promised Iswari Dev would have tackled his mother. He would have told her to wait . But Sonakshi as usual doesn't want to break her promise to Iswari. So it is fine for her to hasten up Dev much against his will

.In all this it is Dev who has to take up the task of rekindling her love and help her finally open up about her feelings. He started his process already. His calling her miss Bose and the way he said his lines in his droolworthy voice .are ..the firm steps taken towards taming up Sonakshi and extracting the secretly hidden inside feelings.

Still I feel for Dev because he is the one who is magnanimous and understanding. He is the one who knows how shattered Sonakshi will be if she has to lose him forever. He is the one who could gauze through her heart and feel the love that will overflow if Sona frees herself from her false pretensions. He is also the one who should take care of his little Soha and keep her away from this tedious process. Finally he is the one who has to support Iswari in her noble mission to unite him with his love.

Surely Dev Dixit is burdened and how? I wish him all the luck in the world. Cheer up Dev.

Lakshmi

@Lakshmi you literally read my head. Out of all the characters, Dev is probably the most misunderstood. He has the huge task and responsibility right now with Ishwari's wishes, Sona's feelings and ost important of all, Soha's protection from the outside world. Its been only some days since Soha and Dev have been staying together. With Ishwari's plan being risky, he has to protect her innocent soul from the outside world. At the same time, he has to peep inside and mend Sona's heart too. When Sona breaks down (which I am sure will happen pretty soon), he is the only person who can heal her, giver her the support and the shoulder to cry on which she desperately needs. All around this, he has to ensure that he is not ignoring Ishwari and win Bijoy's trust as well.
