I am someone who usually empathizes with everyone. I used to like Bijoy in season 1 and even now was ok with how he was for most part. But today two of his responses took away a lot from me and I am feeling very bad. The current episodes are very similar to the ones during infertility track. Too much emotional and it leaves me drained. Now coming back to Bijoy, these 2 scenes for em today were such a downer --
1) His smile after Sonakshi promised. Her eyes were so hollow and filled with pain and sorrows. How can a father not see that and feel happy about what he had done. He looked so peaceful after taking ripping her heart out. I mean is this love. If it is then I am happy that I am not that loved. 😊

2) When he got upset that Sonakshi left without eating the sweet he brought. Today he was upset that she did not eat the sweet he had brought from store. Yet he couldn't have any sympathy for the father who is a vegeterian, cooked fish because she loves it and saw her not eating it. If on that day Bijoy talked about "karma", what should be waiting for him now then for what he has done. That time he was happy that his grand daughter did not eat the food cooked by Dev. I understand self respect as a virtue, but am finding it very hard to accept that pride and ego is also a virtue and something that needs to be put above everything. Is compromising in life for a less than ideal result that bad.

Sorry, it is just that I feel really bad for Dev and Sonakshi today. Both just killed themselves for the parents that they respect the most. Too much ranting I guess, but couldn't stop myself. Today Bijoy totally became equal to Ishwari. Now he is like the other side of the same coin. If Ishwari is the heads of that coin, then tails is Bijoy. 😭 😭

It was very painful to watch that scene. Bijoy was all about self-respect is S1...and now writers made him all about pride and ego. I hope Asha can knock some sense in him. Asha and Bijoy are poles apart and yet sailed through their relationship.
I hope we see a little reasonable father in him. Controlling decisions of perhaps a 33 year (just guessing the age) daughter who fought through and got the family in this situation today knows how to take her decisions ...hope he can respect that sometime real soon.

Hello suyash

Your comment above is violent and against one single character. Could we ask you to edit it out please and perhaps also add an explanation for your thoughts on his behaviour rather than passing a judgement and giving out punishment.

Thanks

I am extremely sorry for breaking the rules... I guess, I just lost control over my already raging emotions... The actions of Bijoy Bose in the last few episodes has really made me depressed...

Since the inception of this show, we have seen him as a supportive father, who encouraged his children to become independent and strong individuals..

For many members, he was the picture of an ideal father... Sure, we were all witnessing some or the other incident where his self-respect or his impulsive nature created problems for his family members...

But, more or less, he was a good person...

But, with the start of the second season, and the focus shifting to the Bose family, his flaws came into the spotlight...

We finally realised that what have we perceiving as his self-respect... In reality, it is his false pride and ego...

His actions in the last few weeks, especially in the last few episodes has left a very negative impact on my interpretation of his character...

In fact, I agree with @Shaavi's words that there is very little difference remaining between him and Ishwari... And, that both of them are the two sides of the same coin...

I hope that I am able to clarify why I wrote what I wrote.. I am definitely going to edit it out since, after rereading it, I realised that I really went overboard with my words...

Since, we are talking about my previous post, do you also feel that I should remove my views regarding the precap (my last point in the Author's Note section)?? An answer would be most appreciated..

Thank you for bringing the above point into my notice...

Thank you Suyash. If you feel you have said something you won't say in someone's drawing room, then edit it out. Atleast that's my general rule of thumb when I write on forums

That's a good rule of thumb... Usually, I also believe in the same thing... But, I guess, the emotions that have been in an cryostasis state since the last few episodes, has finally erupted in an unexpectedly, violent form...

2. Even after their intense conversation, I still can't forget the expression and agony in Sona's eyes when Bijoy hugged her after she made her promise...

Sonakshi, in order to live up to her Baba's perception of a 'perfect' daughter has truly lost her own identity... In fact, I feel that she has finally become numb and whatever feelings that might come out of her in the form of Soha or Dev are also being sucked out of her...

I always felt like Dev was all alone (except Golu) in the previous 7 years..

But now, we are also realising the fact that, Sona, even after being surrounded by her family, she still feels the void and gap that has existed in her life since her divorce... Her only exception being Suhana, her Sunshine...

(I think that it is clear from today's episode that Bijoy had asked Sona to never engage in any kind of relationship with Dev, apart from being parents to Soha.)

And, then, his behaviour bringing Sona sweets for accepting his promise (and then, again his anger when he came to know of her absence)...

After watching some of the last episodes, I no longer feel any kind of sympathy for either Ishwari or Bijoy... Both don't deserve any kind of redemption or salvation...

The above mentioned quote is from my edited post... @DQ, I hope that this is fine??

All I can say is Sonakshi's "NO" for Dev's/Ish's Proposal is not driven by her promised to bijoy. like she said ... she has the freedom to make her own decisions. and she has the confidence that she can make her parents agree to her decisions even when they have concerns. we cant say the same about Dev.

Sonakshi still feels for Dev but only as a Friend, troubled EX , father of her daughter... She killed all her feelings for his as a lover/husband... Clearly Dev still wants to do what his mother wants.. Sonakshi may need more time for this friendship to turn to Love... but Dev/Ish didnt leave that option.

Dev made it very clear that she is just an option that Ishu gave him - if not her then someone else. Love doesnt work that way. it is ok to move on after a failed marriage but dont claim that you still love your EX so much (like Dev expressed when he was on truth serum) and then say that sonakshi is just one of the two options and that he too wants a companion. Sonakshi doesnt have any option - everything has been decided already... They both agreed that they cant reunite as nothign has changed.. one day they will be happy and then some conflict with Ishu comes around and then they will be miserable again and this time soha will also be impacted...
Then Dev wants a companion and mom suggested if not sonakshi then some other girl... so Dev just wanted to get a go ahead from Sonakshi incase she doesnt want to get back together... very similar blackmailing and forcing to agree to what they want (like the infertility track).

I am glad Sonakshi said No and also clarified that it will be her decision whether she wants to remarry someone else or not... she wont be forced by Bijoy or anyone else. I guess that shows the difference. It is time for Dev to stand up for what he wants instead of always trying to live up to the expectations of his mom and struggling with the options and putting up with the emotional blackmailing. He should definitely stop acting like a lost puppy. if he cant stand up for what he wants then honestly he should not think of marrying any other girl as it would be injustice to that girl.
