The bedroom scene had Dev at right side and Sona at left with a giggling Soha in the middle.
Minutes later, Dev and Soha fight over the temperature of to keep in the room.
Traditionally positioning of characters matters in writing and I felt that the positioning and use of numbers was deliberate.
Dev on the right side represented "faith and belief" in his relationship with Sonakshi through Suhana. Dev still calls Suhana, Suhana. He's yet to call her Soha. Suhana means beautiful while Soha means a star. He also asks for the temperature to be 24. The number at its core symbolizes family, companionship, idealism, harmony and long term security. The number also resonates with reality while holding onto the abstract beliefs that strengthen it in itself.
I think the use of these two terms reflects Dev's character at it's core. A man who is still holding onto love despite the shortcomings that i carried with it.
Sonaskhi was on left side signifying a very business-like approach. Left of a body represents a very realistic and no-nonsense approach. For Sonakshi, this arrangements is not about reliving her past even if comes back to her through instances. She wants to be straight in her approach to Dev through Soha by solely focusing on parenting.
She also insists on keeping the temperature to 26. The number symbolizes team work, diplomacy and realism which is clear in where Sonakshi stands right now with Dev and her relationship wiith him.
Soha in the middle is the best and worst of her parents. If she is sweet, sensible and understanding, she is also stubborn, determined to the extent of achieving that she ignores the facts (parents telling her no) around her.
The baby girl settles on the number 25 which is significant of it's introspective qualities. Soha being in the middle and Dev and Sona on other sides will force them to look at their relationship with a very different lens. They both have matured and changed their priorities a lot in past seven years but now is the time to create a harmonious balance which Soha will push them to peek into.
I think Dev setting the temperature back signified that throughout his stay at Boses house, he will push Sonakshi's buttons through Soha but in the end he will settle with Sonakshi's approach and let her take the lead. Not because she is right but because if he makes her skip over a number again to agree with him, he will lose Soha from the middle.
I love uses of small things here and there as part of reflection. The scene in itself was very beautiful and reflective of the tumbling emotions that are beginning to settle after fiery clash in beginning of the show.
