Thanks for the new thread Sam and DQ. This thread provides a nice stage for wonderful discussions and understanding the series through various perspectives.

A big round of applause to all amazing writers in this thread 👏 👏 . It is a great pleasure to read the different views and ideas and understanding the symbolisms of the story.

Today when watching the weekly reliv episodes for last 2 weeks, it felt like this whole summer camp that they are showing is the story of KRPKAB in abstract with some wonderful symbolisms. The scenes/events shown are not in the exact order of the story, but they are the respresentative of the turning point of the story.

Summer camp began with Sonakshi coming before Dev and following the rules. But when he enters she cuts the line breaking the rules. In the beginning of the series Sonakshi is shown to have work ethics and principles where it was not considered polite to barge into the room when she was meeting with a patient. But later she starts barging into Dev's office room or bedroom even when he is otherwise engaged without thinking it wrong. Sonakshi wanted to be as far away from Devas possible, but Dev wanted to be close to her.

In the basket ball court when they play against each other, Dev stops the ball as well as saves her from falling. In a way it is similar to Dev stopping Sonakshi from getting married to Ritwick at the same time not letting her lose confidence in herself. When they forgot that it was raining, it was like the time when they were in love before the first breakup. They were oblivious to the happenings in their surroundings. They only realized its effects when Soha sneezed similar to Ishwari taking the sleeping pills.

The most important part of it is the coming of snake to the camp. When the camp started, they were bickering, but then were ok with each other. Similar to season 1. But with snake(Vickky and maami) coming into their lives, they are no longer the same. It is also interesting that of all the rooms in the building, the snake got into Sonakshi's room. Maami's target was Sonakshi as soon as she entered IN as she felt with Sonakshi being there she couldn't control Ishwari. This is something that is very surprising as initially it was not like Sonakshi was anything more than Ishwari's doctor. Yet maami felt she could gain control only by getting rid of Sonakshi.

It is equally interesting that Dev was the last person to know of the trouble although he was the one closest to Sonakshi's room. Similarly everyone could see that Sonakshi was in trouble and was struggling in IN except Dev. He was the last person to know. When Golu comes to Dev his first words are "what did you do?" even before letting Dev know that Sona and Soha are in trouble. Golu who knows Dev still felt it was Dev who had caused the trouble due to his unconventional way of doing things.

As soon as Sonakshi realizes there is a snake ready to harm her, she leaves the room closing it. When Dev comes to know, his first reaction is denial, to accept that truth. Dev knows his maami is greedy, but doesn't really think she or Vickky would go to these lengths to fulfill that greediness. Then he decides to overcome that fear, similar to his fighting against the indebtedness he feels due to maamaji' role in his life.

First he tries to fight it alone, but is not successful. Even with Sonakshi coming to his aid, he is not able to gather enough courage to catch it. With Soha coming he finally is able to trap the snake. Dev tried to control maami by himself, then tried to do so with Sonakshi's help. In the sense her presence gave him that strength, the inspiration to get rid of it. But finally it is Soha who gave that final push with which he was able to trap maami and Vickky securely. Right now whether they like it or not maami and Vickky have trapped themselves. They are living with constant fear of what if the truth comes out. Hence are trying both defensive and offensive tactics leading to failures. It is true that for 7 yrs they were successful. But like the snake which couldn't keep hidden behind the cupboard, had to come out.

Dev and Sonakshi going to the jungle to release the snake is the best part of the story. It is symbolic of their married life. Both decided to go to jungle together taking the snake with them. Similarly both decided to marry knowing very well the risks they are carrying. Their path is not straight, but is roller coaster. However they do travel a certain distance without hurting themselves much. There they have disagreement as to if they should release the snake there. It is the representative of what happened during bhaidhooj. Dev wants to continue, while Sonakshi thinks no need. I am not saying that Sonakshi at that time wanted to get out of the relationship, but was sure to have second thoughts about it.

Together they reach a far enough distance and notice it was ok to let go of the snake. Here I am referring to their breakup in the farmhouse as both felt they are right and they are the ones who know the correct path. But in the darkness Sonakshi gets hurt. Similar to what she has faced the last 7 years. Dev brings a badly hurt Sonakshi to shelter. Similar to Dev bringing out Sonakshi and helping her realize her pains that she is in denial of. He also makes her realize that part of the reason for her current situation is she herself.

If Dev had to learn the lesson of asking for permission to something that he thinks belongs to him, Sonakshi had to learn to swallow her pride and ask for help as well as accept that she was not perfect all the time. If during the first rain they were drenched, during the second time, they are not so wet. If the first rain was love, the second one was hate. They are not really consumed by their hate for each other. The hate is just the anger and disappointment in disguise.

When asked to help, Dev went with the solution possible under the circumstances. He knew it would be painful. He first prepared himself to face it then gave a heads up to Sonakshi to face it as well. The alcohol was highly symbolic that Dev has accepted that Ishwari played havoc in his life. He has made peace with this bitter truth. While Sonakshi thinks she has already faced unbearable pain and is now able to withstand anything without support. But once Dev starts to treat her leg, she realizes that the pain she has known is not the unbearable one, but this is the one. Whatever pain Sonakshi has endured in the last 7 years is nothing compared to the truth when Bijoy's hypocrisy and his role in the breaking of her marriage is revealed. At that time she too will drink the same bitter truth as Dev that her father is not flawless and is also selfish.

It will beDev who will give her that support either physically or emotionally when Sonakshi needs it without her even asking for it like when he extends his hand before walking to the camp. If Dev really was a bad guy, he would have left Sonakshi there to tend for herself. Also while coming back, he doesn't tell her to walk fast and keep up with him, but slows down to match her speed.

As the summer camp continues, it looks like we will get a glimpse of the story to come. Also the precap did not look like it was for Monday's episode, it looked more like next Friday's episode. Also the background in that was very similar to the sitting place next to Dev's room. So Sonakshi will come to IN on her own before Suhana asks them to live together. Hmmm. 😛

Saw some posts discussing about some good serials...but those seemed to be completed ones...is it against our forum rules if I recommend an ongoing serial?

A note on how we deal with our parents. I will focus on Ishwari and Bijoy mainly.

Before I start, I should clarify that I don't "hate" Ishwari or Bijoy. I have a mother in law who exudes of Ishwari and therefore whenever my feelings for the character are borderline nasty I try and catch myself in the tracks. Simply because these feelings will only make me and my family toxic. And secondly, I aam not a saint who is always oh-so-nice to her not-so-ideal husband's family. I am simply at a stage in life where I have done the jhulas and been let down at b'day dates and I now know that life gives you ample opportunities to fix the jhula or 5 cr fiascos. I am at a stage where I am still at a tug of war over who calls the shots in the house even though I don't live with my MIL yet she visits for 2-6 months at a time and needs full control of the household when she is here and is always trying to micro manage what we do when away from her. I have reached a stage in life where she, I and my husband know how much control who has and what makes them tick

Enough about me...

Ishwari - When the show started she was physically unwell. Her children were trying their best to help her however her desires would take over and often mami would bring treats and jeopardise Dev and/or Neha's efforts. They had to bring in external help and Dev had to hammer it into Ishwari that she needs to stop messing about else it will get to a point where she has to be hospitalised. If I may, Dev is now being a bad son (in S2). Neha is out of picture so I can't say much about her. I would perhaps say the same of Elena and mamaji too. They are Ishwari's children and they know mami/Vicky are bringing treats for Ishwari and messing her up. How can Ishwari help herself when she has no tools to do so? Back then she had to get used to the new diet and slowly she did. The same needs to happen now. Dev more than anyone else needs to step up and stop mami from poisoning Ishwari's brain and he needs to give Ishwari something productive to do. He is hurt and is in pain. Agreed. However, just like in S1 he said to himself that he got so busy with his own work that he ignored his mother's health. He has done the same again. If he won't do it, who will help Ishwari?

Bijoy - the same applies to him too. He is diabetic. Asha was helpless and Sona used to control Bijoy back then. She seems to be doing a better job than Dev yet she is still falling short. She needs to make sure Bijoy doesn't get greedy about Soha. Else he will harm his own (mental) health. She needs to make sure Bijoy feels included in the decision making process. She needs to make sure his concerns are addressed too.

This is a double whammy for Dev & Sona. They have Suhana(and Golu!), themselves and their parents to take care of. Too bad! These are the cards life has dealt them and they need to make sure they act appropriately. Dev has managed to ensure that Ishwari isn't able to drag him into that blackhole. However, he owes it to his mother to make sure she isn't getting dragged (by mami) into the same blackhole either. Bijoy & Ishwari are like 2 kids too.

PS: I do not want to get into the debate of whether these people have a mental illness or not. It's a very sensitive topic. These are fictional characters and I have no knowledge of how these illnesses are diagnosed. I am only making this post as a daughter and daughter in law and more than anything it's a note to self.
