Before the episode begins, here's my thoughts for today.

Those of you who read Julius Caesar of Shakespeare know the significant of today's date. Today is the Ides of March. Those who haven't read the play, the Ides of March is March 15th. Also the day Caesar was assassinated by the people he trusted the most in 44 BC.

Among them was the man whom he considered his friends who landed the most fatal blow which killed Caesar, someone who he considered his brother - Brutus.

Brutus is a hated character. But he wasn't completely black character. He was convinced by Caesar's enemies that Caesar is a dictator who is cracking the whips and only he is capable of ending the regime and return Rome to its glory. His ego was stoked by Cassius. Cassius was another person Caesar trusted but he stoked Brutus to act against Caesar and used Brutus as a pawn.

Cassius also instigated the senate.

What was the senate's complaint against Caesar? Their complaint was that Caesar was giving too much power to the outsiders like Marcus Antonius. They wanted the power to be concentrated in the hands of selected few blue bloods. Caesar's increasing dependence on Antony's wise counsel was a source of fear among the people who were previously used to be his senate.

Do you see where I am going with this?

Here, Caesar is Dev, Brutus is Vicky, Cassius is Radha. And the senate is Ishwari. The information about the snake was handed to Radha and Vicky by Ishwari. Thus she was the one who gave indirectly the nod. Radha brought the weapon and handed it to Vicky who betrayed Dev despite his many favours on him and his son.

Ishwari despite knowing that Vicky and Radha are greedy and have previously harmed Dev's business, handed them the information which made them use that knowledge against Dev. Had it not been Sona's presence of mind, the snake would have killed Dev's only happiness - Soha.

Ishwari's actions previously used to hurt only her family until now. But now it's turning fatal. She is the in-house enemy who is slow poisoning Dev which he still doesn't understand.

Just how many disasters, how many heartbreak, how many betrayal need to happen before Dev finally gets it?

I thought her tantrum during Sona's infertility revelation would have made Dev stand up. It didn't happen.

I thought the pre-nup will do it. It happened kind of until Sona arrived. Then Dev switched target and started attacking Sona forgiving his mother.

I thought the fact that Ishwari didn't let Sona in will do it. Instead, Dev is still blaming Sona.

I don't see the difference between Dev and Ishwari here.

Ishwari, despite loving Dev and despite knowing that because of Vicky, Dev had money loss, property loss and reputation loss, blaming Sona constantly for all evil.

Dev, despite loving Soha and knowing that his mother was completely responsible for him not being with his daughter is also blaming Sona and forgetting Ishwari's part in it.

Could someone explain why we hold Ishwari accountable and not Dev?

Caesar could not escape because he didn't heed the warning that was given to him by his well-wisher who tried to stop him from going to the senate that day. Caesar was too arrogant to think that he was indestructible. His arrogance was what became the main reason for his fall.

The only way Dev can escape the same fate if he heeds the warning of the well-wishers (Sona/Soha/Golu) and leave his arrogance behind. He can't come out of the curse all by himself. He needs help and he needs to reach out for it humbling himself.

EPISODE: The episode takes off where it ended yesterday.

Dev and Golu come out where the parents gathered with the children. Soha says there is a snake in their room.

The parents panic including Bhaiya. Soha wonders why. Sona says that when someone wants to hide their fear that's how they look. Bhaiya denies all fear.

Then Security guards come there and say that may be snake came in due to rain. Dev wants security to vanquish the snake. They refuse. They said that they called animal control who said that they will come in the morning.

Me: The camp has security? Tab kahan tha bey jab Vicky aur Radha sapore ke saath idhar taaka jhaki kar rahe the?

Aur security uncle, snake andar kaise aaya usse kisiko kya lena hain. Usse bahar kaise nikalna hain us mein to aap logon ka dimaag nehin chal raha hain?

Parents complaint about the arrangement. Pretty Preeti asks them to cooperate.

Me: Itna useless planning maine life mein nehin dekhi by God. Medicine laye nehin, security time pe dikhi nehin aur ab problem ka koi alternate solution nehin. Sab aise behave kar rahe hain jaise Anaconda is on rampage attack. Arre koi doosre kamre mein share karke raat guzarlo naa. Saanp to ek hi room mein locked hain.

Anyways, parents panic and don't want to stay anywhere else but their own room. Sona suggests to return home. Everyone agrees. But Dev doesn't want to go. He offers to kill the snake. He says that he has waited six years for his happiness. He doesn't want to loose this chance with Soha because he is scared of losing her. Sona softens and Soha gets impressed. Golu is permanently impressed.

Me: Bhaiya, bada sentimental and for a change honest speech tha. Lekin ek baat bolu? Aap itna jhooth bolte ho naa ki aapko apni hi excuses yaad nehin rehta.

Dekho agar aapka aim hain Soha ke saath time spend karna, to uski summer vacation abhi bhi chal rahee hain. Wapas jaake bulalo apni beti ko kuch din ke liye apne paas. Problem solved.

Agar problem aapki interfering mummy hain to kahin picnic mein chale jao Golu aur Soha ko leke.

Iss problem ka na bahut solutions hain. Sirf dimaag chala lo.

Lekin agar aapka aim hain Soha ki hot mummy ke saath time spend karna, to sirf yehi ek mauka hain.

Tabhi aap baat Soha ki kar rahe the aur nazrein mummy pe tiki hain.

Sona scold him and says what is he doing? Tumi ekdom impossible. Bhaiya ke man mein laddoo phooting. Now Bhaiya is more determined to show his heropanti.

Sona still tries to stop him. But he refuses. Gossip mummy again loudly comment on their nok-jhoks and one of them tries to interfere. Sona scolds them silent and says not to interfere between Mr. Obhodro and her. Dev gets mesmerised (Manma emotion jaage re) and Sona falls silent for a moment. But fixes her statement saying not to interfere between Mr. Dixit and her.

Now Dev is revved up and pumped in adrenaline.

Me: Lo bolo. Jab dikhana hain courage mummy ke saamne tab to inko saanp sung jaata hain. Ab saanp ke saamne takat nehin dimaag lagana hain, ab inko mummy ka magic kada sung gaya kya?

Ladies and gentlemen, Bhaiya ki heropanti real life mein mat dikhaiyo. Saanp dikhe, to patli gali se nikal liyo. Suchna janhit mein jaari.

Dev is about to enter the room when Soha stops him and gives him a helmet to protect him and reminds him of safety. Dev is touched. Sona again tries to stop him and she googles the snake and shows her instant research skills only rivaled by her quick presence of mind and sensibility in crisis. Dev mentally gulps. But still determined to prove his capability enters the room.

But the moment he enters, Superman out aur Chuhaman in. Curtain uda to hosh bhi udd gaye.

Phir saanp dikhi aur jitna himmat baki thi, woh bhi nikal gaya.

Phir bhi himmat karke saanp pe towel phenka. Lekin miss ho gaya.

Ab Bhaiya panic mode mein sofe pe chad gaye.

Idhar bahaar awaaz aayee aur Sona asks Dev to come out. Dev doesn't respond. Sona decides to go in thinking that Dev is doing all these for Soha. If something happens to him she won't be able to forgive herself.

She asks Soha to take care of Golu and comes in.

The moment Sona comes in Dev screams. Sona also screams and jumps into the bed.

She scolds from the bed who screams and scares like that? Dev retorts back who comes in suddenly like that? He asks where is Soha?

Sona says, Where is snake?

Dev says, "Meri jeb mein. Doon?" He asks who told her to come in?

Sona says, Her conscience.

Dev asks, Now she even has conscience? She came in to be hero in front of Soha.

Sona says, She doesn't have any wish to be hero. He came in to be hero by catching snake and alone to boot.

Dev says, He doesn't want to be hero. He just wants to be a good father in his daughter's eyes.

Sona softens.

Me: Sorry. No comment. I am rolling on the floor laughing. Definitely see this part. Highly recommended. They are fighting like kids on the playground. Sorry. They are fighting like scared shit kids on the playground.

Dev doesn't want to leave. He says that he will catch snake even if it takes the whole night. May be then Soha will call him papa.

Sona softens some more. But she suggests that they should go out and seal the room.

Dev refused.

While they are arguing, Sona's hand fall on something black on the bed. She screams and jumps on Dev. He jumps out and throws towel on it. It turns out to be a black belt.

Second time a miss.

They continue arguing and Sona says that she doesn't need any help.

Dev taunts that she is brave, intelligent and feminist already. He doesn't want to take care of her. He is saving her because otherwise what will he tell his daughter.

Me: Aapko to bhaiya badi takleef hoti hain feminist Sonakshi se? To ek non-feminist agyakari ladki se shaadi karke apne khud ke cricket team kyun nehin paida kar lete? Kami to nehin hain hamare desh mein feminism ko gaali dene wale ladkiyon ki. Issi independent aur feminist Sona ko ek aur independent aur feminist aadmi ke saath dekh ke laptop ka shradh kyun karte ho?

Anyhoo, in the argument and tussle they notice the snake over Sona's head (Me: Yeh lo, zameer chod ke snake curtain rod mein chad gayee. Pakka ichhadhari naagin hain). The snake jumps on Sona *snort* and she jumps on Dev. But somehow they land on bed with Dev on top. Classic eyelock moment and intimate moment.

Me: Abhi snake kisi pe chadega bhi nehin aur jump bhi nehin karega. Time please.

Hum bhi lunch brake le lete hain aur snake bhi.

People hear shout outside and Suhana goes in despite people trying to stop her. She sees her parent romancing whine naagin dancing.

She calls Mumma and Sona jumps and grabs Soha in a hug and miraculously, Dev throws towel and it neatly falls on snake and out it goes somewhere while Bhaiya gets thanks.

Me: Romance khatam. Paisa hazam. Hero bhaiya ke liye taaliya.

Dev comes to Soha still clasped in Sona's arms. Soha says thank you for saving her mother. Dev says welcome. Soha says that he saved everyone. Thank you, Mr. Dixit. Dev is disappointed and Sona feels bad for him.

Oooh... Forgot Vicky and Radha ki kartoot. So they run leaving snake and their Red behind and decides to hide their crime by giving people lift so that they can be witness later if someone catches the sapera. Turns out Ronita and her mother.

They started talking and found out that she is Saurabh's fiance.

Me: Bhai wah. Kya kameene log hain. Golu ke liye pill mein jhol kiya aur ab ussi Golu ko uss insaan ke bharose chod diya jisko saanp se darane aaye the. Kya boli thi main? Cassius and Brutus.

Waise itna bang on analysis maine kabhi pehle nehin kiya hoga aur woh bhi episode se pehle. Maine kahan tha naa, ki agar Bhaiya ko bachna hain iss Ides of March se to apne well-wisher ki baat maan ni padegi aur apne aap ko humble karke help leni padegi? Dekha?

Precap: However, even though Bhaiya threw the snake out the window along with the untied towel, he still managed to retrieve the snake to take it back to the jungle. Environmentally friendly option. Bhaiya hain non-violence ke pujari. Pathad se snake ka sar phod denewala kaam kaun karta hain? Khaas kar jab snake aunty cupid ki naani ho.

Soha very generously volunteers her mother as protection.

Dev and Sona dispose the snake peacefully in the jungle. Ab to naagin aunty nehin dasegi. Naagin ka kaam khatam.

Then they argue which way to go back. Dev tells Sona to go her way and he will go his way. While going on her own she falls on a stone and faints (I think).

Me: Chalo Bhaiya. Muscle to achhi bana li hain. Jerkpanti kar li, heropanti karli, sentimenti kar li, flirty panti bhi kar li. Ab weight lifting ki baari. Uthak baithak kar lena. Ex-wife ko uthana hain naa.

Exactly. Dev could not protect his family, his wife before and he let his love get killed by his family. If he still remains blind, God knows what he will loose. He is about to gain Soha's trust as a father.

But gaining trust is easy, keeping the trust is not that easy but not difficult either. But once trust is gone, regaining back that trust is sometimes impossible.

Dev might gain Suhana's trust by winning games for her. But the way he can maintain it if he lives up to the protectiveness, the respect and the dignity of his new title - papa.

If he loses Soha's trust, then it won't be any better than death for him. Because that would be death of hope, love and trust.

For Dev winning people over was always easy. But his problem always came after.

Nice post Tia.
I would have shown my sympathy for Dev - if he had recognized how selfish his side of family is and still stayed with them and forgiven all their flaws and sulked instead cursing his fate... but here our hero is in denial and cant understand simple facts and actually goes and abuses the ppl who never harmed him anyway... this is not acceptable.

This redirection of self inflicted pain and hatred towards sonakshi is just something i cant accept. Even 6 yr old Golu is thinking and asking sensible questions... when will Dev grow up !!

Precisely my point, Lavanya. Had he accepted his and his family's mistakes - if not to Sona, then at least privately to himself, I could have found him redeemable. But despite knowing the truth this constant state of denial and this constant blame game portraying him and his family some kind of victim are getting on my nerves.

I have no problem if he continues to do his duty. But if he is back to his recent fawning over mummy attitude, then he should not keep on verbally flogging Sona for his mother's doing.

This entitled, arrogant and unwilling to face the truth attitude is what ruined his marriage in season 1 and it seems that he learned absolutely nothing.

This is what I wrote yesterday in Zed's post.

It's one thing to be a father. Any man can be a father. But to be a dad a child regardless of gender can look up to and respect, one needs to be a good human being and a good human being is also respectful specially to that said child's mother. Sonakshi is an excellent mother to have raised such a delightful little girl. Even if she was the worst wife under the sun (which she was obviously not), Dev still needs to show respect to the mother of his child, if not his ex-wife. Had anyone behaved with his mother the way he behaved with his daughter's mother, we all know what he'd have done to them. If he does not want to face the same attitude from Soha, he needs to change his attitude pronto.

I don't expect him to be best buddies with Sona. But I expect him to be polite to her instead of behaving like an ass. However, how he had been behaving since Monday is more than okay. I don't care if he hates Sona because she is his ex. Although his constant whining and blaming Soha for that hate which he clearly knows was his mother's doing is getting on my nerves. If he conveniently forgot what his mother did, he has no right to blame Sonakshi for anything anymore.

Et tu, Brutus?
I love that drama!

The comparison is bang on!

You ask why Dev forgets and forgives Issue while he's always pissed with Sona? I'll tell you. When we are stuck in a difficult situation and have to make a choice between taking the hard way and solving the problem forever or taking the easy way and solving the problem temporarily, we take the hard way because we know temporary solutions eventually lead to more problems. But Dev always takes the easy path. He forgives his mother because he knows that she can overdose on pills any moment and he has to play safe, that is, not speak or accept the truth. Sonakshi is a soft target, she doesn't live with them, doesn't give two hoots about them and can't listen to their accusations so why not blame her, be in the good books of mummy and get away with it? Why see the ultimate damage that mummy is causing in this process?

Res. Will update after the episode.

Tia,

That is some wonderful writing.

I always hold Dev responsible and blaming Ishwari is the easy way out. He cannot escape blame. How long does he want to close his eyes and stand in the middle of the room crying that it is dark and there is no light.

It is almos as if t he goes to sleep and wipes out everything that happened the previous day.
How does he forget what Vicky has done. Vicky is not his mom.
How much ever i try, i am not able to get over Dev's character growth as shown or rather his backward progression as shown.

Still, i love your writing. And i keep coming back to this window,
Super hugs to you!

Thank you, Doctor. I agree.

Dev always took the easy way. When fighting for his love was difficult, he let his mother fetch his love back. When speaking the truth and standing up for his love was difficult, he took the easy lying, hiding and platitude in private way. When facing the reality was difficult, he took the easy soft target/victim blaming way.

He never did anything that was personally difficult thing to do for him.

That's why I always felt that his love lacked conviction. So no matter how much he claimed to love Sonakshi a lot back then, I never felt that it was good enough.

Thank you. Exactly. You gave an excellent analogy. Dev compares his life being devoid of light or colour because Sona left him. But he is the one who took out the fuse and holding the light switch in his hand yet yelling why there is no light in his life.

That sounds immature and irresponsible. Both qualities inappropriate in a parent. If he can't take responsibility for his own actions, if he can't behave like an matured adult, how will Soha rely on him as a parent?

If he wants to remain as a friendly uncle capacity who spoils the children like he does to Golu where he carries out no discipline and just constantly hides their mistake and reward them, that's fine. Thankfully because Sona is the responsible, matured parent he has that option. But he wants to be a dad. Then he has to live up to that post. He is not against Ishwari for comparison who is a failed mother. He is against Bijoy who might be irritating, rude, annoying sometimes. But he never failed his children any time they needed him nor he let them get away with mistakes.

Unlike Golu who loves to be spoiled, Soha loves rules and discipline. She doesn't mind getting punished if she did wrong and quickly admits her mistakes. However, if Dev continues to deny his mistakes, why would Soha continue to be accountable for her actions? Children learn from parents. Don't they?
