A big hello and namaste to all the KRPKABians! After a self-imposed hiatus of 7 days from the show and the forum, I guess my anger was short-lived. I am back in full gusto and my pearls of wisdom with this 7-day' leap.

After catching up on the 5 episodes post leap and going through some strong and very strong reactions on the forum, I couldn't stop myself from creating this post - sharing my thoughts here!

Having gone through one, I can say heartbreaks are difficult, and truly hurting. Especially when the matter of love got out of control because of others' faults. Sadly, Dev-Sona tried multiple times to save and salvage their marriage, but ultimately it wasn't meant to be. Only time will tell how and when circumstances will bring them together once again.

New Dev:

The makers have brilliantly portrayed this new Mr.Cool-Sassy-Brooding Dev, who is puzzling all of us with his antics.

Dev's emotional outburst and blaming Ishwari was a sight to watch. At last, he calls Sona his only fulfilling wish, which was trampled by the selfish Dixits. One thing that stood out for me in that entire scene was - One cannot choose between a wife and mother'. So apt and emotional turmoil for a single son being raised by a single mother, when the mother pined all her realistic and unrealistic hopes on him. But interestingly, doesn't blame himself at all - either its jerk behavior or he is punishing himself by leading such a meaningless life.

I wasn't sure why he blamed Sona. Looking at the bigger picture, Dev did warn and expected Sona to be stronger and more intelligent to not be a people pleaser (like he is) but she kept taking in daggers which ultimately led her to a point that she couldn't take it anymore.

This break up shook him hard, that it even changed his core. He lives a nomadic life, fills in the void by being playful with Golu, seeking sexual pleasures elsewhere (perhaps with no emotional connect) wanting to move on but failing. He is clearly not over Sona.

New Sona:

Sona came out stronger and sharper, like a true iron lady - as expected, no surprises there. With such incredible family support and a joyful partner in her child, it was much easier for her to overcome a difficult marriage and emerge as a winner.

There is a catch here - so while she excels on professional front, she is faltering big time on her emotional quotient, in my opinion.

Asking your daughter to decide whether she wants to meet dad - good and welcoming, but hello? its not her age to decide! What needs to be done, needs to be done - the dad has the right to know and she should grant him the right, not leave it up to Suhana to decide! Emotionally fragile to lose Suhana, is it? So relate-able.

Secondly, she has always been aware of Dev's emotional state (must have contemplated all these years) yet she wanted to up her game against Dev. Sona is on a power and ego trip right now, she is unable to let go off stuff in all these years. That's why trying to outsmart Dev and taking the bait, giving reactions etc. She deeply loved Dev and is now clouded with bad memories. She is not over Dev either.

P.S. - I am Team Sona, in all reality of life and practicality, but in my love for fiction in this show, I am Team Dev!

P.P.S - I have a feeling that it will be Dev who will go puppy face again and Sona will tell about Soha. But I am not over-emotional about the show anymore 😉

Lovely Analysis

Ishwari she heard whatever her son had to say but she never listened to his words thus she blames Sonakshi for ruining her family but if she really sits down and ponders on Dev's words she realize Dev has lost in a very big way .
Dev and Sonakshi loved each other deeply could sacrifice anything for the other however their marriage was doomed right from the very start imagine from both sides their have Bijoy and Ishwari pulling at their strings that alone is heavy strain on a young marriage
Dev and Sonakshi eventually started themselves last wanting to please and make Ishwari happy first her dictation on their marriage was allowed and its only DevAKshi at fault yes its always great getting advice and guidance from elders but they allowed the wrong to happen to their marriage .

Dev now after seven years trying hard to prove to his family to the world to Sonakshi and himself that he has moved on but he is still stuck at that bitter last moments of his marriage while Sonakshi too trying hard to prove that she has moved yet she too still stuck at the last bitter moments of her marriage then how have they both fooled their families in thinking they have moved on
Sonakshi has Suhana a part of Dev with her so she has strength and love while Dev still stands alone

I just caught up with the last couple of episodes (FFed through it so pardon my mistakes, if any😆) but I was surprised to realize that I was fascinated by Dev the most..I know I wouldn't have fallen in love with a guy like Dev in the first place (even the earlier version 😆) but this is fiction and from that perspective, I find his transformation fascinating..To go from an awkward, naive, emotionally fragile guy who really cannot stand up for himself or for what he believes in to a pseudo -flamboyant guy who is probably looking at various avenues to fulfill the emotional void in his life-I find that arc really interesting from a psychological point of view..The guy needs help..He is scarred and it would do him a world of good if he visited a shrink (something ala Dear Zindagi 😆)..The problem with Indian TV is that every action is viewed from the microscopic perspective of the main love story..I think thats probably why we end up with such cliched stories in every show..The way I see Dev right now, he doesn't need his mom or his wife..He needs a psychiatrist. Basically someone unconnected to his life and someone who wouldn't be judgmental yet someone who would tell him to do the right thing in the right way..I know this will eventually be reduced to a slug-fest where the leads insult each other and keep getting back at each other in public leading to an eventual cliched reconciliation..Which is why I don't even bother following the show even though I find the current Dev fascinating 😆
P.S. This show had so much potential..I don't know if the makers see it but the Dev, Sona and Ishwari in the first 50 episodes of the show were the best versions they created..They have been butchered so bad for the sake of drama and now they have been reduced to fit into the toxic love-hate arch which Indian TV thrives on (something I hate and it is also one of the reasons Dev-Sona were interesting initially- because they fought yet respected each other and din't indulge in public tamashas 😆)

I know - this new season in a way is giving us some real checks in parenting too. Particularly how parents like Bijoy, who despite being well-meaning and taking great pride in their daughter could inadvertently damage her marriage.

I am more concerned with how to parent a girl child - where being ambitious is important but not outperforming is fine too. This is what is transpiring in Sona's case - she tried too hard and then gave up on Dev - because she lost all her energy fighting the Dixits and could not devote enough to her own relation with Dev!
Sona is my favorite character in a long time - her journey has been all about strength of character, resilience and family values. And her fairytale romance. She is all practical now - but her soul is lost.

I have no comments about ishwari - she is a case long forgotten in my book!

Not everyone is as sorted as you are :) it is indeed taxing to fall in love with a guy like Dev. But he has some inate qualities for which I would root for him. Love is like that, it happens and then you can't change it. Whether that love ends in marriage or not is different, and whether such a marriage lasts or not is another concern.
This show tells us another journey about parenting too. How there parenting left a lasting impact on them gives me a few lessons too. The way Dev had been so scattered and emotionally fragile while Sona has been such an overachiever and fairytale hopeless romantic - all of it makes them a dynamic couple now turning into tamasha couple.
Dev is messed up big time, and drive a shrink insane too!
Sona needs to chill a bit, is taking herself too seriously, everything is in her favor. She needs to come clean on Suhana with Dev (he deserves to know) and prepare herself for the worst (because the makers love tamasha).
It is indeed not the same show anymore. But unique and best amongst the worst on Indian TV.
