Well it has more to do with culture...in our society...girls parents are not supposed to be loud..in earlier
days women were seen as depending character on the father and then after marriage on the husband...so after marriage parents of girls were at the mercy of their SIL and family ...

Well that is OLD story...now when their daughters are highly educated and financially independent ...do you think the fathers of the daughters have to bend their , fold their hands and stand in front of boys parents...why would they do??

But people are yet to move out of this whole concept ...Sona's mom Asha lives with the older notion where as Bijoy is a present gen father...

Regarding slap ...that is no accident...its his reaction to what Bijoy said...

Again tutoring destroying the relationship ..

You know all this happens because our parents fail to understand we have grown and we have the right to make decisions when it comes to our personal life...in both the cases of Sona and Dev..each others family consider their son/daughters spouse as a threat to their kids...just because the choice of the spouse was done by their kids.,,,,and then what they do is when things go wrong they keep interfering and try to take control of the situations in such a way that their respective kid will benefit.

Its high time both Dev and Sona put an end to this outside interference...and tell their respective families to mind their own business.

Honestly the way Ish interfere.Bijoy does not interfere.Bijoy all he wants is.Is daughter should not compromise n reduce her worth.Value her based on Dixit's standard.Sona can very well say to their parents not to interfere.Because she feel so gratitude towards Dev.Dev I highly doubt he can say to GKB N Ish not interfere in their personal mattes.

Bijoy does not feel Dev as threat like Ish feel Sona as threat.Bijoy fear is.His daughter should not face heartbreak again. But I feel it's high time.Bijoy need to take back seat.Leave Sona to do whatever she wants. At the end.He only gets slapped n insulted.

Asha character has become huge disappointment. She still has old school thinking.Wife should be epitome of patience.

@Bold - I agree.Dev cannot take any accusation on his mom.But can take all the insult of his wife silently.Yet Sona does not understand it.Then she deserves all the treatment she gets in Dixit house.

I would never accept any guy who would insult my parents, or even stand like a spectator when my parents are getting insulted, let alone physical hurt anyone.
In that sense I could only pity Dev... he destroyed his own life by not reacting correctly.

His Baba , itni choti baat was in such bad taste.
How Bijoy reacted is not even the question here. clearly all were screaming... It is not that Dev was cornered to react.

All he had to scream out was " Bas " in his Aubodro style and things would have quietened out.

I think his not reacting at the right time is going to destroy his life.

But reading the post got me thinking about the stranger comment. It most definitely seemed misplaced...

But your explanation does bring a new perspective to the entire thing.

@BOLD...for that Dev needs to understand his love for his wife...yes he loves his wife...but I feel somewhere in his heart he has not completely accepted her ...his mothers teaching...Sona as an outsider is playing in his mind and that is the reason why he reacted that way to Bijoy...if he had accepted her completely then he wouldnt do that to Bijoy...100% sure on that ...

Regarding Sona not standing up for herself - 2 reasons
a) Blindly/madly in love with Dev . Dont want to loose him again hence want to impress his family members so that he will never leave her.
b) Her own mother tries to calm her because Asha happens to be old school person who thinks a lady should sacrifice her needs for her husbands family ...😡

Whatever happened yesterday is going to be there betwn them for life long...probably forgiven but will never be forgotten by Both...for Sona as a pain...and for Dev its going to be guilt ( again guilt not because he hit Bijoy but because he hurt his Sona by that one action ) .

If he has to really feel guilty about hitting Bijoy then he has to accept Sona completely ...which has never happened...love is there ...but acceptance , trust , respect these are the things that has to be seen from him towards her...which has never happened much...So we need to see in future episodes if Sona gets these from Dev...I am a person who feels and believes love alone cannot help a marriage to survive...it needs support from words like acceptance , trust , respect etc.

If acceptance has to happen then he needs to stop thinking her as an outsider...anyways we will wait and watch...what these ppl has to offer us in the coming weeks

Dev is not hated just his in actions , his stop gap solutions to find easy way out and his seeming lack of empathy is what is being questioned because that certainly is not good partner material

I do agree with you regarding this

As mothers of sons we need to teach our boys to love and respect all because that is our duty and also make him understand others pain and misery too... Bad grooming and selfish upbringing can only bring misery to family .

I would also like to add that we need to teach our daughters to claim what is rightfully theirs

@GREEN - You are absolutely right.. parents should not only teach them to claim what is rightfully theirs, but also to communicate properly and insist that their partners communicate with them. This is the biggest failure on the part of Dev and Sona..

you know what Ash, you always bring a different perspective. yes, it is difficult to hate Dev because not EVERYTHING about him is wrong. Like Sona herself says, he does the most sweetest things and the most outrageous things. I would say i am frustrated with Dev but do not hate him.

Like you rightly said, the one and only thing that puts me off about his character is his blind love for "his" family, especially his mother. He is unable to add anyone else to his family, not even Sona.. He considers Sona part of him but not the family because others in "his" family have not accepted her.

Simply put like him or hate him, he is good to have as a boyfriend, but not as a husband. I am sure Sona will come to the conclusion very soon. it is better for both of them to have a live-in relationship rather than a husband and wife.. But then Dev and Sona are so sanskari no?

@ BOLD ...spot on !!
More than blind love for HIS FAMILY , I would say blind love for his MOM!! He has liked people ONLY who has been accepted by HER...more than MOM - SON relationship , I see a Master - Slave relationship betwn them...its his blind loyalty that is messing up now...like I said in my response to VIMAL...this guy is basically trained by his mom to accept her and no one else...

So that is the reason he wants Sona and his mom to have that rapport...its a psychological thing ...his mom's acceptance is needed for him ...if he has to change then his equation with his lord /master has to change ...or love for Sona has to over power the existing equation with his mom...

PS : Sanskar toh kab ka ud gaya...that slap took all of it away ...from Sona because I felt she should have reacted and from Dev because he shouldnt have done that!!
