Yes ...just see both the decors ...initial one had hearts ect there were 3 cages ...then when they changed the decor...2 cages at the bedside tables...its so evident in the first one...

Really! I noticed it too - hope it was meant to be symbolic as you have analyzed, and not meant as a nice decor item! that would be too much!!!

Both Dev and Sona are caged ...albeit in different ways. Sona is caged by her love for Dev and hence her need to please Ishwari. While Dev is caged by his mother's love and he will ultimately be set free from this cage due to his love for Sonakshi.

However, I doubt the birdcages were meant to symbolize anything...coz how can the makers who use two different room settings over a span of two episodes and all the while maintaining that Dev and Sona haven't changed rooms think of using decor/birdcages symbolically? The PH is truly GKB types and hence I don't believe they will spend money for symbolisms.

Absolutely right. This is all about symbolism. Sonakshi is really caged due to her incapability to stop loving dev and she is unable to regain her true identity and characteristics. Sona who was not love with dev would not have done or endured or stayed mum in many things and issues which this sonakshi is doing who is unconditionally in love with dev. Her fear of loosing dev and inability to live with dev is why she seems to be caged and not free to her true nature. As for dev yes he is caged to due to his mother but there is an option for him to get out of that dominance of his mother with little bit of courage and honesty
