You have raised some valid points. I am thinking they are showing GKB this way to contrast her and Easwari dealing with their respective DIL's. Kind of a throwback to a scene where Nikii says that Easwari will be a great MIL and GKB will not. In this case GKB will be a good MIL but maybe Elena really will not be a good DIL and this will show Easwari she was wrong in her judgement of Sona

This is just my opinion on why they are showing like this I may be totally off too😉

Elena and Vicky ran away and got married.Both families(though furious) are now happy to have them back.Under such circumstances,they will dare not scold them or tell them to do anything against their will..Phir baag gaye to😕😆😆...

.Vicky's mom is very selfish and manipulative. Vicky has seen this and learnt this from his mom.So he obviously feels no gratitude or respect for his mom.He learnt his first lessons on how to shift loyalities to suit self interest from his mom.So he shifted loyalties to Elena with no guilt.Ishwari is nowhere as selfish or manipulative,so Dev could never behave this way to her.The downside of Vicky's behaviour is that such ppl can shift loyalties anytime anywhere.He may soon get bored to Elena and shift loyalties again..U never know

.Dev, under the circumstances which he got married and because of his blind devotion to his mother,spent his initial days feeling two overpowering emotions..Gratitude to his mom(for letting him marry Sona) and extreme happiness that Sona was his.Sona,being the nice thing that she is,didn't use the latter emotion to her benefit.Net net gratitude of Dev to mom and Sona's title talash for ideal bahu dominated the scenes
