You have raised some valid points. I am thinking they are showing GKB this way to contrast her and Easwari dealing with their respective DIL's. Kind of a throwback to a scene where Nikii says that Easwari will be a great MIL and GKB will not. In this case GKB will be a good MIL but maybe Elena really will not be a good DIL and this will show Easwari she was wrong in her judgement of Sona

This is just my opinion on why they are showing like this I may be totally off too😉

Yes Ish thinks she is a good MIL but she thinks she alone brings Dev happiness so she has not wholeheartedly accepted Sona. GKB knows her son so well she knows if she speaks against Elena or behave like a bad MIL she will lose her son because Vicky does not have the same loyalties as Dev and that is what I think they are trying to portray. Kind of open up Easwari's eyes so to speak about how Sona is the real Sona
