i asked my father too.. and he also told me that when fever is too high and not coming down(even with keeping cold wet strips)... then you do bath the patient with cold water.

infact when i was a kid, i had fallen ill and temperature had gone too high then even i was bathed wth cold water.

Yes, it helps to bring down the fever. I used give a cold sponge bath to my son every 15 mins when he was a toddler...but we have to dry them soon ...its like wiping away the temp...till his fever reduced...its a common practice...

That is what supriya ji was sarcastically commenting that looks like this lady doesnt know anything abt bringing up kids...

We can give sponge bath to reduce the core temperature.
Not ice cold, but normal water .
Sponge whole body.

actually there are two practices- one is the old one which is ...to keep the room temperature warm so that the patient starts feeling hot and start sweating which will lower his/her body temperature (this my father told me happened when he was small).
and the other one is bathing the patient with cold water(this happens nowadays usually)

both are correct.

Agree when d fever is too high and doesnt drop den cold shower is given ...which slowly but definitely reduces d temp ...n sona was right about kadha too ...dat one is given in cold and not in fever ...its too heavy to digest and its taseer is also hot which doesnt help
