SONAKSHI's POV
We woke up and after completing my household jobs I finally went into my room to find dev pacing... "kya hua dev?? Aap pareshann ho?"I asked him he just held me by my shoulders and pulled me in a hug "kya hua?"I repeated my words!!
"kuch nahi mai yaad kr raha tha.. the last time tumne yeh kaha tha ki mai ja rahi hoon... asia laga jaise sirf tum nahi, mera bhi ek hissa chala gya ho.. issiliye thoda scared hoon..."he said
i smacked him on his head and said "puranu baton ko bhul jaeyi or mai sirf 3 dino ke lye ja rahi hoon"
he shook his head gave me a wry smile and said "I will miss you" seeing his puppy eyes I just laughed!!
I reached my house at lunch time so when I entered, my house was a screaming mess!! "shona" was all I could hear before dada and elina pulled me in a rib crashing hug!! Laughing I greeted my entire family present and sat down for lunch!! "aacha ab jaldi batao kal kya plan hai?" I asked helping myself some rice...
" tum log decide kro humne nupur ki family se baat kr li hai woh log kal aashirwaad ke liye aane ko ready hai... time humne abhi tak bataya nahi hai" baba said
"toh phir sham ko kr lete hai na... tab tak dev bhi aajaenge and sab free bhi ho jaege!!" I continued and a murmur of approval passed through the table... the next task was deciding and preparing the best of Bengali dishes, so for this my mom and mashi just jumped in, and dadi agreed to do the final touchups and supervising!! Half of the dishes much to my father's displeasure were vegetarian!! We sat for more than an hour to decide the menu for the day... that's when I told them about the surprise after wedding party idea dev had comeup with...
"aacha idea hai.. deb se kaho ki wo prepration kr le or jo bhi kharcha hoga woh hum baad mein dekh ke deb ko wapis kr denge!!" maa said
I looked at her in disbelief and said "aap apni beti ko paise wapis kroge... aap aisa kaise keh sakte ho yeh humare idea hai... iska sab kuch hum karenge!!" I said stomping my foot and with so much of determination that my family just dropped the subject all together!! Elina and Vicky joined us in the evening and they were just too thrilled with the idea of the surprise wedding, so much that Vicky instantly left for ishwari niwas to help dev with the planning.. the next was invitation of the guests, though we had only a few families as our guests and they were both common for the groom's as wella s the bride's side.. so kali uncle (nupur's father), had already invited them to the ashirwaad and the wedding the following evening, so we made it a point to invite them to the after wedding function...
"aacha ab ishwari ji and baki sabko kon invite krega?" baba asked his sourness towards my inlaws still visible
"offfo bijoy shaadi humare bte ki hai toh tumhi invite kroge na "ma said irritated
"aacha baba theek aache" he got his phone and dialed the dixits first and then on my insistence even invited the vashisths, and chaudraeys for the wedding function!! We all sat for dinner in the evening when dev called
I excused myself from the dinner table "hello hanji boliye mr dixit.."
"bahar aao na!!" he said
"abhi?" I asked
"nahi kal subha aajana" his voice laced with sarcasm
"itna sarcastic hone ki zaroorat nahi hai... aati hoon" I disconnected the call and headed out to meet my husband!! I saw him leaning against the car frame wearing track pants and sweatshirts seeing me he starigtened "kya hai mujhe aaye hue sirf 6 hours hue hai!! Aapse wait nahi hota!!" I said irritated as I went to stand next to him
"nahi hota!!" he said facing me
"ab boliye kyu aaye hai aap yahan?" I asked him
"chalo"" he simply stated
"dev mai andar apna dinner chod ke aayi hoon or aap keh rahe ho chalo?" I had already given in, but I just wont show it to him!!
"arey chalo na gadi mein baitho" I got in the car not before throwing a good tantrum, and stomping my feet!! We reached pinnacle heights and he guided me into the house and navigated straight through the house to the big white room!!
"hum yahan kya karne aaye hai?" I asked him and then I surveyed the room, it was a mess!! Every cloth that could be fitted inside the wardrobe was out in the open!! "yeh kya hai" i asked as I freaked out
"arey woh jaise normal couples krte ahi na color coordination, toh maine socha, iss baar hum bhi karein toh maine pehle tumhare liye kuch dresses nikali but then mai confuse ho gya!! Toh maine socha mai tumhe yahin le aata hoon!!"he said innocently
I looked at him aghast!! "aap mujhe yahn kapde select krwane leke aaye hai or yeh color coordination kitna tacky hai!! Mai aapke sath color coordinate nahi karungi!!" I said and took a seat after making some space!!
"aacha... color coordinate mat kro but compliment toh kar hi sakte hai na!!"he said
"aap suddenly yeh sab kyu kr rahe hai?" I asked him as my eyes swept the room,
"kyuki mai sari duniya ko yeh batana chahta hoon, ki tum sirf meri ho, mera tag laga hai tumpe!!" I opened my mouth to say something and then shut it "sonakshi its just something that I wanna do.. I want the world to know, that I am not that weak anymore, that I am standing with my wife no matter what..." he said looking down
I stood up, took his hand in mine and said "aapko insecure feel krne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai mr dixit!!"
"isse tum meri insecurity samjho ya stupidity!! Mai toh yahi karunga!!" I said his grip tightening on my hands
smiling I went back to surveying the room "ek kaam krte hai pehle hum aapke kapde select krte hai phir mere!!" smiling we started digging through the mess!!
"Ab aap mujhe ghar drop kr dijiye mujhe dada ka room set krna hai, accordingly!!!" I said as I picked up the plates and dropped them in the sink!!
"zaroori hai?" he asked taking a gulp of water I just rolled my eyes and picked my packets and he followed!! By the time I reached home it was well past 11 and maa and baba were waiting for me in the living room... I sat down next to them,
maa lovingly placed a hand on my head and said "mere dono bache kitne khush hai!!! Sab kuch aacha ho raha hai!! M very happy!!!"
hearing her say these words tears welled up in my eyes and I said "kya maa... bas abhi chalo dada ka room redecorate krte hai" i took her hand and both of them followed me to my brother's bedroom... We rearranged his room, best to accommodate a lady and her year old child!! We had changed the placement of the furniture, made room for bodhi's belongings in the room and we even installed a makeshift nursery for robin!! Impressed by my work I took a picture of the room and sent it to nupur boudhi and moved to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee, so when I was sitting at the dining table pondering and mentally going through my to do list for tomorrow, when I felt a heavy hand on my back and without turning back I said "kya hai dada!!" taking the vacant seat next to mine he sat there and snatched my coffee mug and took a sip!! Looking at him I suddenly questioned him "dada aap kkhush toh ho na?"
he looked at me as if I was an alien and said "han sona... kyu?"
"yaad hai jab meri shaadi ho rahi thi tab aapne bhi mujhse yeh pucha tha.. toh ab maine puch lia!!" I said..
he handed me my mug and in a sincere tone began "pata hai sona mai kabhi samjh nahi pata tha, ki tu dev babu se itna pyaar kaise krti hai... and itna sab hone ke baad bhi tu dev babu ke pas vapis kyu chali gayi!!" we both were silent for a few seconds then he continued "par ab mai samjhta hoon or pata hai yeh sab sirf nupur ki wajah se hai... abhi tak tu or mai sirf ek acchi team banate the but nupur or meri team perfect hai!!!" he added mocking me I looked at him in disbelief and smacked him!! And after that we just laughed our lungs out till ma and baba dragged us to our respective rooms!!
The next morning was as beautiful as it could be, we woke up and in a frenzy completed our bhai phonta and dada gifted me a beautiful set of bangles, after that the house was a complete buzz of energies and flavors blending into one another... maa, mashi and dadi were busy in the kitchen... elina and me were busy in decorating the house and setting it all up, so by the time it was 3 the whole house smelled of water candles, and flowers, and most importantly happiness!! Joy was so profound that one could smell it in the air!! "well done everybody!!" baba said propping himself on the couch!! "but special thanks mujhe kyuki sabse zyada kaam maine kia hai!!" he proudly stated
"bijoy.. ki bolchi tumi!! Sabse zyada kaam humne kia hai!!" ma said and mashi agreed!! And we all laughed, the moment was interrupted by a door bell, so I quickly went to fetch the door and out stood my hubby!! Smiling I let him in, he was dressed in an ivory shervani I had picked for him the previous night!! He touched everyone's feet and mingled with the family and by the time we all got dressed up!! By 4:30 the guests had started coming in and I was surprised by the way dev and Vicky were tackling the guests, watching them I turned to elina who was helping me in the kitchen!! "puchki, aaj yeh dono bhai kuch kha ke aae hai kya!! Ese deal kr rah ehai jaise saalon se inn sab ko jante hai... and I am quite sure ki yeh sab logon se pehli baar mil rahe hai!!"
elina just laughed and said "aacha hai na inne bhi toh pata chale ki hum inn pe kitana easy jate hai, or bakion ko deal krna kitna mushkil hai!!" we could sense dada's happiness form a mile away or rather a room away when boudhi walked in!! she was dressed in a simple dark brown and grey saree!! We made them sit on the giant chairs that were kept in the centre of the room!! The ritual began with dadi being the oldest member of the house... Soon it was my and dev's turn I stepped next to him in complementing colors I had put on an ivory and red saree "boudhi yeh aapke liye hai" I said giving her the kangans I had bought for her she took them and said thank you and flashing a bright smile
"and meri taraf se bhi hai.. woh issne add nahi kia!!" dev prompted and I elbowed him as the whole room burst into laughter!!
"and yeh tumhare liye hai" dev said giving dada a small box...
"dev babu mai aapse yeh nahi le sakta" my brother protested trying to give that box back!!
"dada accept kr lo na hum dono ki taraf se hai!!" I pleaded
elina cut in "hum dono ki taraf se bhi hai" she said pointing towards herself and Vicky and he nodded in agreement!!
"but yeh car hai, koi khilona nahi hai" he still protested!! I looked towards ma and baba urging them to help
when maa said "saurab beta lele teri behne or tere jjiu itne pyaar se tujhe de rahe hai!!" so finally my brother reluctantly accepted the gift!! The ceremony was over the dinner table was set, the vegetarian stuff and the non vegetarian stuff!! The guests sat down for dinner and soon after a non eventful dinner the guests started to leave and only the bride's family stayed back, discussing the next morning!!
"aap kal subha time pe aajaenge na??" I asked dev the umpteenth time!!
"sonakshi ab toh mai pakka nahi aaunga!!" he said in mocking rage!! And before I could say anything more maa followed baba nad maa's steps and were reaching for the car door... I waved them a bye and headed back inside..
"dada" I rushed towards him!!! "m soo happy for you!! And robin kitna cute hai" I said
"maine kaha tha na!!" he replied smiling!!
The next morning came early, the house was bustling with people!! Even though it was supposed to be a court marriage the whole house was panicking over trivial stuff!! When we were finally all settled and having breakfast, dev dropped in and joined us!! The court appointment was at 11:15 am so by the time it was 10 we were all decked up and heading for the destination when dev pointed out maa's absence and I explained him "humare yahan ladke ki shaadi mein maa nahi hoti!!" shrugging he went back to driving!! When we reached the court elina and vicky along with mamaji were waiting for us on the parking lot elina busy with her DSLR!! It was after a long time she had pulled it out!! The court wedding went as planned and dada and boudhi were legally wife and husband!! We indulged in some quick photography sessions and dada along with baba and boudhi left for her house to help her with the remaining stuff and some more rituals!! Meanwhile we headed home and busied ourselves with the task of decorating the bridal chamber for the bride and groom!! "eli yeh na wahan rakh dete hai!!" I said picking a handful of floating candles and placing them near the bed!!
"wahan kyu rakhe hai!! Or yeh sara room itna bright kyu hai??" dev asked as entered with the basket of flowers we had asked for!!
"dev isse decorated room kehte hai!!" I said heated..
" han, woh toh theek hai, but itna bright rakhne ki kya zaroorat hai... mahaul thoda sensous hona chahiye... yeh kya diwali ki tarah sara room saja dia hai!!" he said in a flat tone!! Then moving towards Vicky he said "or tu inka sath kyu de raha hai mana kar!!" we exchanged glances and I shook my head
"bhai woh kya hai na jab 2 sherniyan samne ho toh aache aache sher chuhe ban jate hai!! Phir mai kya cheez hoon!!" Vicky stated and elina chuckled!! "ab aap aa gaye ho na!! toh ab hum milke iss room ka kuch bhala krte hai!!" Vicky said moving towards dev!! After endless arguments, we finally were done with decorating the room and it looked nothing less than a perfect setting for a wedding night!! Impressed with our hard work we proceeded to change as we still had another wedding function to attend!!
"kaisi lag rahi hoon" I asked as I moved to put on the jewelry I planned to wear with my lehenga!! "bolo na dev" I asked him again
"huh.. kya?" he said as if someone shook him hard!!
"dev" I whined
"tum aaj itni khubsoorat lag rahi ho ki, log dulhan ko toh bhul hi jaenge!! Aaj toh sambhal ke rakhna padega tumhe" he said getting up and moving towards me hearing his words I examined myself in the mirror!! I was wearing a designer black and gold lehenga and dev was dressed in a velvety dark pathani!! We made an exquisite couple!! But before he could take another minute to appreciate me there was a knock and eli stood there with her camera and clicked some really candid clicks!!
"chale?" she asked me and blushing I lead the way!!
The wedding gave me a feeling of dj vu.. 2 months ago in this very temple during sundown I had given my sister's hand in marriage and now it was my dada "sari preprations ho gai hai na?" I asked dev as we were ascending the steps of the temple
"dr bose aap mujhe pe shak kr rahi hai?" he said in mock disbelief!!I smiled and he said "han sab kuch ready hai" the wedding was simple and soon it was time for taking the wedding vows.. tears welled up in my eyes when dev came to stand beside me and recited the vows with the utmost sincerity and with so much love in his eyes, that I melted right then and there!! The moments from my wedding coming back to my forefront and my grip on his hands tightened as I sniffed my tears away!! Robin did the actual tying of the knot and dada and boudhi stood up for the pheras!! The wedding was over with the magalsutra and sindoor ritual the newly wedded couple greeted everybody and took blessing from everybody present!! "now lets PARTY!!" everybody squealed as we helped the couple in the backseat of a car and took them to the secret destination!! Dev had really booked an expensive lounge for this party!! It was brightly lit and screamed HAPPY MARRIED LIFE!! Soon the guests arrived and the party began in full swing dancing singing the evening was getting on better than I had expected it to be, when dev pulled me to a corner and put his hand on my mouth said"hum ja rahe hai" he removed his hands and asked "puchogi nahi kahan" I just looked at him my gaze not shifting,
before I could think of what to say my lips uttered "take me anywhere!!" smiling he lead the way!!
In no time we were standing outside 12010.. he opened the door and lifted me up and I squealed "what" he just laughed the sound effortless!! He pushed open the bedroom door which was decorated with white lilies and carnations!! And before I had the time to appreciate his lips were in mine and I asked him when we broke free "yeh sab kya hai??"
"yaad hai how humari suhagraat spoil ho gayi thi!!" he leaned down and whispered in my ears "aaj mauka bhi hai or dastoor bhi" and the rest of the night was spent worshipping me!!
