He doesn't remember the harsh words he spoke at Ishwari to describe his feelings towards Sona and his heartbreak on how his own mother has taken away the one thing that is important to him.
For Dev he wakes up the morning after Sonakshi's engagement to realize that it has been broken off and then the next minute his mother grabs his hand, takes him to the hall and decides that he will get married to Sona. For Dev, he thinks his mother had accepted Sona wholeheartedly, but sadly he didn't know that it was his drunken condition and words that caused Ishwari to accept, in fear of losing her son.
It was the very same situation for Sona too. When she saw Ishwari at her house begging for her to come to her son's life, she assumed it was because she had accepted her too. Ishwari's persistence even after Sona's initial rejection was convincing enough for her.
It is going to be a very bumpy ride for Sonakshi. And Dev too. I guess that is what the story is going to progress to. Now we have seen that Ishwari's acceptance of Sona was forced. But the story will continue to show how that relation evolves into accepting her wholeheartdly and hoping that Cv's continue to maintain the close to reality factor in the storyline.

Both Dev and Sonakshi applied zero logic and common sense.Dev happily accepted the 180 degree change in his mother overnight and Sona happily accepted the sudden change in Ishwari forgetting about her insults and snide comments. They both rushed into marriage without resolving anything. The problems have only started.I can only hope that this show does not become 'the goody dil transforming her mil' kind of show. It's not only Sona's responsibility. It's Dev's as well to ensure that nobody disrespects Sona(not his mother, not anybody else) and to support Sona.

Thank you.😊
Men won't understand specially wife's feeling easily. He won't even understand what is acceptance from mother. Also, man from such conservative family will have less feeling towards female, coz such family give only importance to male.
The problem here is that Dev has never been able to see the inequality between son and daughters that prevail in his home.He has to take off his blinders where his mother is concerned and only then can he understand and act.
In reality, a modern girl won't marry a guy who is not capable of understanding her feelings at all and who brushes off her concerns.

Now sona has really tuff time in making him understand her feeling. Now she should act smart keeping patience. Breaking is easy, but live in that relationship is tuff. She need to pull up her socks to keep Dev in her confidence. All the best sona😆
Sona should surely stay strong and try to make Dev see the truth but if he still fails to understand and act, then it's better if she walks away.

I wouldn't mind them showing Sona changing Ishwari for the good and getting rid of her insecurities, as long as it is done sensibly. I think the whole concept of the show is Ishwari accepting her daughter in law wholeheartedly. Hope the Cv's maintain this realism and pace and continue to surprise us with each episode.
I agree it is Dev's responsibility to make sure no one disrespects Sona. Ishwari is smart enough to not make snide remarks about Sona in front of Dev, as she fears of seeing her son hurt. Yes her outbreak on the fish incident is understandable. Else so far during the entire wedding and related functions, she has maintained a happy face, in front of Dev atleast.
But if he blatantly starts to support Sona and argue with each and every family member openly this soon into the marriage, things will just worsen between the entire family. And Sona's reputation will go further down since it will be assumed that she is the cause for his changed behaviour. And it will only increase Ishwari's insecurities.
I think what he should do is try to calmly make his family understand when any situation arises. But most importantly he must understand that there is a problem rather than ignore it. And let Sona know that he understands the situation and supports her and assures her everything will be alright.

@ bold In reality, with someone like Ishwari you cannot expect a wholehearted acceptance. I will be happy if the makers show character growth in Dev and Sona-Ishwari can amicably co-exist.

For me,Sona should not be the only one to bring this change.Dev needs to be right there with her. They need to deal with Ishwari together.

Support doesn't mean that you need to argue. It just means that you are willing to calmly make your family understand that you will not tolerate any insults towards your wife, make them understand that they need to treat her with respect. And what better time than the very first time Dev notices such insults. When you let people get away with such comments , they'll be encouraged. But as you rightly said, for that Dev needs to acknowledge the problem, not live in denial.

the entire issue about this veg non veg was not actually the food itself...it was more the fact that dev overruled his mother's belief, wishes and gave into the bose ...remember how she said your happiness lies in their happiness...dev did not get the sarcasm ...and this is the apt punishment for him...just like he has always been punished for wanting to do something for himself...be it playing with kids or loving sona and now this...

sona and her family were assured by dev that he will handle it and ishwari so i do not see them breaking their head over it in the chaos called wedding preparation...dev told his mother the same and i do not see him as well breaking his head as it wa shis own wedding ...ishwari knew how her bua saas is..even more stubborn in her belief..so what does she do to ensure the wedding goes smoothly without issues...she carries her water bottle and all the elders are left starving ...i refuse to believe she did not see this coming...as bijoy has said...she may not have knowledge of stuff but she is extremely aware of everything...

dev got aptly punished with a fainting mother on his wedding night and taunting family so that he is back to his tum hi ho bandhu ,tum hi ho bhgwaan etc etc etc...that satisfied look on ishwari's face...the God is pleased indeed...

sona's reaction wer enot out of the line, she asked the right question and if this was only the food issue she would still have mellowed down but from the moment she walked as a bride all she has been getting left right are taunts, insults and even more of them ...and ishwari fainting ,elders starving and more taunts was just the final blow to her ...

the blinkers are off,the reality is out there for all...sona can sense it,ishwari can see it and dev has decided to turn the other side for the time being...as he said he just has started to balance and he needs to ace it fast...

the makers hurried with the patch up and jumped to wedding brushing the core issues under the rug so that ther eis enough drama from wedding onwards...none could be in theri happy place or else there would be no story to tell...ishwari allowed this wedding coz it was she who decided to let it happen,it was she who brought her son's happiness and it was she who sacrificed so much etc etc..operating word being 'she'...even now she knows dev's priority is her ...and that is not going to change overnight either...her insecurity is still simmering on low flame...and with this marriage it is going to start to boil and reach the point of overflow...no worries there is GKB and dadi bua to set her high temperature...

as for sona ,she needs to first realize that this house is as hostile as it was before for her...if she wishes to survive she has to fight no other option ...dev has to realize that his wife is his family, safe guarding her and her self respect should be at the top of his check list for starters...

GKB and dadi bua are not even worth reacting but i really wish sona shuts up GKB atleast...you have one or other relative similar to dadi bua in your family...my grandmother was the same...very very stuborn, age old traditions refused to bend or adjust for anyone but loved us to the core...God bless her soul

Exactly.
Ishwari has been doing everything just to ensure that Dev continues to see her as God. By convincing Sonakshi for marriage and agreeing to everything, she succeeded. But in all this she ensured that nobody forgets how big of a sacrifice SHE made for her son.How can the world not revolve around her?As you said,God is pleased indeed.
Sonakshi has now seen the truth and will get to see it again on many occasions in future as well. She'll have to remain strong and Dev will have to man up if he wants Sona to become a part of his life.

Wonderful post. Actually it's not that I haven't seen negative tracks in shows before. There have been cheap vamps, disgusting in-laws in shows before but somehow this show rattles you up in such a bad way. It's like the meanest streak behind the veil of goodness.

To some extent they showed reality. And it was so depressing to see it. The whole patch up and all has been on the same lines. I feel bad for no character except Mamaji. The only sane one stuck in a literally kameena khaandaan😆

How can a businessman be so blind?. Dev is an epitome of that. He sees everyone insulting the so called love of his life and he says they all love you. Now that's some new found definition of love. May be he took "we fight the most with the ones we love" tad too seriously.

How can a doctor/nutritionist be so blind? At this moment I feel no, absolutely no sympathy for Sonakshi. She walked into it like a ballerina. Head held high, proper pose and only listening to the music she wanted to listen. Damn the signs had been right there.

Asha - Much as I love the Character, I still can't believe a mother letting a Daughter marry such a family. Her convincing of sonakshi actually never made sense to me. The red flags waving in bijoy's mind would wave in any parent's mind and they would never want their daughter to get married to such a house where there are insults served in breakfast, lunch and dinner. And this is not even arrange marriage where you don't know the exact situation. Damn, this is a love marriage. Until and unless the family is illiterate and treats the daughter as a burden, I would not believe any literate family to go for such sasural. Anyway, so much for drama and victory of love.

Forget about romance, I see no softness left to be felt in the show. It's like the golden phase of the couple is over. Anyway, though as a joke, this suits the newly Wed couple - "Love make s you blind, Marriage opens you eyes"

PS:- I would have loved to see the leads get married by the end of the show. All these craps should have been dealt together. Their journey in this mayhem. I don't know about others but that's what I presumed from the promos. That it's their journey to achieve the marriage with the Matarani's consent.
