Hello dearies,
It's been a while since I wrote a story (I didn't even finish one of them and for that I am still getting emails. But the show ended and I got bored). This is a short story (Maximum three shots) of what I would like to watch.
Some of the scenes are taken from my own experience.
One year after the wedding
Dev is getting ready for work and calling Sona. Since their marriage, she helps him match his tie with his suits and shirt because apparently he has boring taste in colours. He must admit, since his marriage, he had got compliments for his improved dressing sense from business colleagues.
Sona walks in with a cup of coffee and smiles saccharine sweet: Yes? You were calling me Dev?
Dev smiles equally big at her tone: Yeeesss... Where my today's outfit?
Sona sighs: Where it always is, Dev. Hanging behind the wardrobe door.
She opens the wardrobe door and lifts an eyebrow. But of course there it is. Suit wrapped around the shirt with tie and trousers hanging from the hanger.
Dev winked at her: I didn't see it.
Sona chuckles: Of course you didn't. I can't believe that how a man who never misses a single term in a business contract, can't see a full suit hanging at the wardrobe door where I have been putting them every night for a year.
Dev grabbed Sona's waist with one hand, grabbed her coffee mug with another and took a sip.
Sona indignant: Hey, that's my coffee...
Dev (in mock seriousness): Don't you know that you are supposed to bring your husband coffee when you get yours? You must be punished for not properly taking care of your husband.
Sona (lifts a brow): Is that so?
Dev (smug): Yep...
Sona twirls out of his arms: Fine. Don't you know, old fashioned couple don't go out on a date? So I guess I can consider our tonight's date is cancelled. I might as well go spend time with my mother-in-law tonight in the kitchen followed by pressing her legs whole night. See you tomorrow.
Dev (panics and grabs Sona's hand before she can flounce out of the room): No. No. Wait. I was just joking. You can have your coffee back (hands her coffee cup). Would you like me to buy you starbucks on the way to work, darling?
Sona (lifts her brow again): Are you sure? I won't want to make my darling husband work.
Dev (awkward smile): Work? Nah. It's my pleasure, sweety. Happy wife, happy life.
Sona (smirking now): Really? Where did you learn that?
Dev (Turns red): Errrmmm... I saw Tina reading a magazine. There was an article, "Secrets to Happy Life". It was written there.
Sona (Bigger smile on her face): Hummm interesting. What's the name of the magazine?
Dev (Blushing harder) mumbles: I can't remember.
Sona (Teasing more): Yes, you do. Tell me, tell me. (poking at Dev's tickle spots)
Dev exasperated: Okay okay. It was *cough* Cosmopolitan *cough*
Sona (laughing out loud): You read Cosmo?
Dev (sulking): I didn't read it. It was there on Tina's desk lying open and my eyes just happened to fall on it.
Sona wrapped her arms around his neck and gave Dev a kiss: Did I tell you I love you today, Mr. Dixit?
Dev (smiling big now): Not yet, Mrs. Dixit.
Sona laid her head on his chest: I do.
Dev hugs her back and sighs: I do too...
Later that day, Dev leaves for work. These days, the clinic Sonakshi used to work for before marriage handles healthcare for Dev's company and Sonakshi manages the nutrition side of that branch.
So they go to work together because they work in the same office.
But today Sonakshi has taken a day off because Ishwari wanted to perform a puja at home.
Riya and Nikki is as usual fighting over their outfit while Ishwari is bustling around Panditji making sure everything is in place.
Sona comes down in a yellow saree with red and gold border and a red long sleeve blouse with deep neck. The only jewellery she was wearing was her diamond mangalsutra, the bangles Ishwari gave her when she first welcomed her and her sindoor.
Riya and Nikki rushed to her: Sona bhabhi, you decide who should wear this suit.
Ishwari gets irritated: Stop bothering her. She needs to do other work and not deal with you too.
Sona smiles at them and whispers: You can fight for this suit or go to my room and pick one of my suits to wear.
Then she walks to Ishwari while Riya and Nikki squeals and runs upstairs to help themselves to Bhabhi's treasure trove...
Ishwari smiles at Sona: You spoil them, Sonakshi.
Sona smiles: I don't have sisters, Maa. I only had Elena who lived so far away. They are my sisters now. Let me spoil them until they get married.
Ishwari nods and the puja starts.
Panditji asks for gangajal but Sona has to get it with her own hands. Ishwari tells Sona that gangajal is in her room.
Sona stands up to go to Ishwari's room when suddenly the room goes dark in front of her eyes.
P.S. I wrote two stories way back when Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was on. I completed two and the third one is still incomplete and I keep getting emails about that.
