What else can Dev do? He is incapable of understanding what is he doing wrong. His upbringing has left such a severe pothole in his psyche that he can't think beyond himself.
The only person whose emotions he can understand apart from himself is his mother because he has been conditioned to do so.
He is most probably sitting in front of his laptop and thinking why is Sona behaving abnormally when everything is normal at last. I doubt if Sona banged that laptop on his head and clearly spelt out his mistakes - he would still understand

As regards Ishwari she is another masterpiece who is in love with her own image of God.
She had been conveniently fooling herself that she is not the one who is hurting her son as no one was clearly spelling it out to her. If Mama and Dev had not blasted her she would have continued in the same vein in spite of witnessing her son's pathetic condition.
But now it is a matter of her self image in her own eyes as mamta and tyaag ki moorti. She would do anything, literally anything to prove how great a mother she is
