If the story was about perfect Sona and Dev, this serial would have ended in 5 episodes.

Just like real people, fictional people (book, movie, romance, action, ANYTHING) should be flawed. Have you met a person who was 100% perfect?

I am glad story is not focusing on perfect Hritik and his weakness or short comings. That is why Dev is a hero. That's all I can say.

Most of us don't like perfect characters either. Flaws are good. But only flaws or irredeemable flaws mean poor characterization.

Tragic hero's redemption makes a good story. Tragic hero stays tragic makes a pathetic story.

Brilliant post 👏

Yes, a good looking guy playing the role of TM does not make crimes/mistakes a glamorous act(s). What is wrong is wrong. Dev broke the relationship because he was stressed by the suicide attempt of his mother (we completely understand his situation). But what after that, did he even once say to Sona look I know I did a mistake and I assure you I will talk to my mother and convince her for our relationship. No absolutely not. Infact he was annoyed why Sona complained to her father (or as he thought) who inturn went and complained about him to his mother (GOD) and made his mother upset. Once again he lied to his mother (or was he lying about him being concerned about Sona or he simply doesn't know basic ideas of what love actually means).

So he wants to act all goody goody in front of his mother but pretend he can't live without Sona, and how, by not standing up for right, but stalking her. Playing with the dignity of the girl and her family. Hell he is ready to spoil the life of the girl in the name of great love 😡 . If that is what is love for Dev, I assure you none of the girls in real life want Dev as their BF.

And here we have people who say even Sona didn't stand by her promise. Like really, the guy kicks you out of his life for whatever reason and doesn't even want to accept his mistake and try rectifying it even once and you want the girl to lick his boots. I am sorry but destroying your self-respect in the name of love is not arrogance but intelligence or common sense. The real thing what every one in that situation must and would do.

Well, I can say that this series is not finished yet . So I would expect the redemption in future episodes. As I said, just like real people who make mistakes and learn from that. It doesn't happen overnight. Most people learn the long way.

When I started watching this show, I knew Dev was a flawed character. Even Sonakshi knew that before she started loving him. That is the beauty of the show. Sonaskshi loving Dev even after knowing that Dev is not perfect.

Knowing all these, I fell in love with this show.

So I trust the writers, who will redeem Dev.

Brilliant post. Thank you. .Agree with you all the way.

But lets try not to dismiss this weak hero . He did say that he loves her like a man loves a woman. Maybe just maybe this well known businessman would grow into the man he wants to be for Sona AFTER all his boyish mistakes. Perhaps this is what the show is about. Not a love story but the growth of Mr Dixit.

And yes Dev will be remembered for the best confession ever...😆😆 but the worst male lead? ..nooo... it goes to most of the Zee leads.

TM , Your post and responses to it has made my Sunday morning . Good start to my lazy day. Enjoyed it , Thank you

Flawed characters are pretty much the norm in every serial. Take any serial and you'll find the leads mistreating each other - more often the male lead mistreating the female lead - and there is always a plethora of analysis on the behaviour. There is no uniqueness in having a flawed character in entertainment nor is there an expectation by the audience to see perfect characters, which are often rejected for being too boring.

The audience has the capacity of empathizing with even outright villains if they are written well. The problem here is that Dev's characterization has been done so poorly lately that many people find it hard to feel for him. It's not the audience that needs to fix its perception but the writers who are resorting to melodrama and outdated tropes.

In my opinion, an example of a well-written flawed character was Severus Snape. Nowhere did Rowling excuse his bullying of Harry but she gave him such depth that you end up feeling for him.

I never liked Severus Snape's character for the first six books, since the books never dwell into his past (unless you count the Pensive memory in 5th year). After all, he was a jerk to Harry and his friends. Then, in the seventh book, it's learned why Snape was mean, and the determination he had to redeem himself, all lead many to symphazize and even like his character.

The thing is, this happens at the end, and that leaves me to believe somehow, Dev will redeem himself. After all, sixth book we were convinced Snape was bad, and he redeems himself. Dev isn't in such a bad position, relativity, which makes me believe he will find his way out of this, and get to be with Sona again.

I am not supporting Dev for his wrong doings. But I sympathize with Dev because I can understand where he is coming from. He also had bad past just like Severus Snape. If Dev had to convince his mom after break-up/seeing Sona moving on, he would have never broke up with her. At the same time, I did't expect him to be okay with Sona moving on and marrying other guy.

His actions are totally wrong..that is how life is. You make mistakes and learn it. Dev doesn't have any family support unlike Sona. So he will take time learn how to balance his life.

The only word for your post is brilliant 👏.
The most effective and correct summary of Dev Dixit and his so called love.
