All the so-called passion that's oozing out of the promo is totally meaningless if he can't take a stand for himself in front of his own family. He can create a ruckus in Sona' family while making sure his mom is at peace at home. How ridiculous! I so hope the Dev in the engagement is the one who is there after a confrontation with his mommy dear over she having sent Ritvik' alliance to the Bose family.

The promo was breathtaking but it didn't match to the simplicity of our show it was OTT drama at it's peak I wish the confrontation between Dev and Sona is private and not in presence of the families because no parent will allow their girl to marry such a guy .Its good to have grey shades in character but don't drive them to the point where they can't differentiate between right and wrong 😊

I suppose I will be told that I should wait for the episode but I would like to say anyway that this is not what I would realistically expect a guy to do after breaking up owing to family pressures.

I know we are a long way from Ish's realisation but can we at least get a contrite and introspecting Dev instead of a Dev whose emotions post breakup were quite confusing and maddening to say the least ?Now it appears from the promo that we will get an angry Dev. Do they want to reset the clock by showing that they are both now angry with each other?

I second this. After watching the promo I was like, is this the guy we're rooting for to end up with sona? I mean let's just assume for one second that this happens in real life. And the guy who turns up drunk at a girl's engagement is not shaheer sheikh. But a guy who broke up with a girl and has been spineless ever since and has done no introspection about what went wrong at all, turns up drunk at her engagement and breaks a glass in his hand and claps loudly and basically creates a hell of a scene.. Will this guy ever be redeemed in our eyes? No matter what he or his pyscho mom does?
I really don't know what to feel anymore. As much as I love Dev and Sonakshi together I just don't understand how Dev can ever come back from this. I know I'm being hasty in making judgements before watching the episode, but this is just what I felt after watching the promo.

from ur post it is clear that ishwari has rhino's skin...no matter how much piercing words others say she will remain true to her hold over her son...she invested her emotions on dev and in return she expect same kind of investment from dev...no matter if her one track focus on dev has emotionally handicapped neha...

but my point is that noone not even sona saying ishwari that she has robbed dev of his love and happiness...no matter bijoy calling her uncaring mother who cant see her son's pain...no matter mamaji trying to tell her that dev will never forgive himself for leaving sona...no nothing will move ishwari...

so wat will move her...my answer is only dev...for ishwari noone matters to her (not even her daughters) except her son...if tmrw he points a finger at her and says y did u snatch away love from my life...y didnt u approve sona in my life...y cant u trust me that i will always love u in spite of being in love with anothe girl...only and only then ishwari will be bound to react...she doesnt care if the world calls her culprit but she cares if dev gvs her even one accusing look...but ishwari is shrewd enuf not to say anything to dev that will make him say that she has told him to leave sona...thatz y TM is rite that mamaji shud tell her that he has already told dev in the hospital that she does not like sona...

this is actually a mother-son world where noone else has any place...sona tried to step into this world and luk wat hapnd to her...apparently it is dev who threw her out of his life but like TM said it is the result of long term emotional manipulations of ishwari...

for all these years like ishwari dev too believed that his mom is his world...however i am glad he has proved to be a gr8 bro too unlike ishwari who failed to be a mom (let alone great mom) to her daughters...i wonder how emotionally damaged rhea and nikki wud hv been if neha did not play the role of their mother...

how ever dev being a young eligible bachelor now has fallen in love in a very natural process...and now (again in natural process) dev is acting like a person who cant live widout his love and cant think of a life widout her...but at the same time he is bound to his life long beliefs (instilled by his mom) that he is not supposed to love or share his life with anyone else other than his mom...now he is torn between these two ladies...on one hand he is reluctant to hurt his mom which is a second nature to him...no matter whether ishwari's demands r justified or not...on the other hand he cant let go of the girl who taught him the lesson of love for the first time...i mean the lesson of loving a person other than his own family...

i am actually waiting for the day wen dev's patience and unwavering loyalty toward his mom will begin to wane...it is not the task of sona or bijoy or mamaji to make ishwari see the fact of life that for parents children can be the entire world but for children parents can be only a part (albeit a very imp part) of their larger world...
for obvious reasons unlike parents their children hv to be prepared for a life widout parents...

and only dev can make ishwari realize this...noone else...

as for the backstory i totally agree with u...ishwari's possessiveness is simply hereditary...but i guess the most important reason for showing the 3 daughters is that how ishwari neglected them for dev...she was telling dev that he was most glowing diya among her all kids which is actually not rite since neha equally contributed for this family...dev was the breadearner while neha looked after home and younger sisters...widout neha ishwari cudnt hv worked so hard to earn money to educate dev...but ishwari has conveniently ignored that part...

so ishwari's logic that i invested in u since u were the brightest of all is just an excuse to justify her hold on him...but at the same time she said how she has biggest expectations from him too and his lifelong goals shud be to stick to those goals even if his dreams and happiness lie elsewhere...for ishwari it is only she (not even her daughters) who matter to herself and dev believes for him too it is she who shud matter the most and not anyone else...

i wish dev learns to break the wall that ishwari has built around him and embrace the world outside...only sona can help him to build the confidence to believe that he is a separate individual from his mom with his own set of dreams and not always his dreams shud be subjected to his mom's approval...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I, along with many of us, do agree that there is no room for anyone else in this mom-son duo. If things have to change, only Dev can start the process. But he seems to be in his own world mommy love on one side and obsessive lover on the other... Wit Sona pushing him away, I don't know how/or why she can/should help him build confidence. Dev needs to wake up and grow up.
Looking at the new promo, the process doesn't seem any close to starting...

The makers obviously have other plans... Sad!

And I spent long posts trying to analyse how the hard life has impacted Ishwari, her identity and why her reactions have turned so blind & ugly... 😆 ... Too funny.
Very simply, she would have been this way even if they hadn't had that glossy 70mm sad life...
I can understand. Those long long thesis & never ending discussions on your posts. We were so crazy man & those were like some brainstorming sessions. Sab kuch faltu mey...🤣🤣

Aah! don't remind me 😃... After watching the new promo, am so angry at all time wasted in praising this show. 😕

Just hold on Arch. I can understand & I am also really disappointed to see Dev(at the same time Shaheer killed it) in this way in the latest promo BUT this promo is saying so many things & at the same time there are much more unsaid things. I don't know why, I feel this time he is gonna let her go. Previously, He gave up on their relation because of his mom but i feel this time he is gonna give up on Sona because of Sona. I just want to hold on to my thin thread till 12th. Before going to give up forever, I just want to hope for one last time by thinking of the reasons why we held on so long.

Happy Ganesh chaturdhi to all you lovely people in this forum.

Am back with you with the rest of my anger 😃

What Dev, Sonakshi, Ishwari, Ritwik or any of the other characters do is none of my concern now as these are fictional characters. The characterization, actions, reactions are being scripted by the writers this show employs. They are using the power of their pen to weave a story they want to tell...
So they start with a very familiar premise - Couple cant be together because mother doesn't approve. As they plant the characters, they paint the ground with colors of realism. Realism, Subtlety and a mature love story is what they want to build and they send out teasers to convey the same. We are hooked!

6 months on; the initial promos with a restrained Dev & strong Sonakshi have turned into a Dev that is a mixture of SRK from Darr/Anjaam/Devdas and Sonakshi is of course doing what she is doing - for family. Very much Paro to this Devdas of the TV screen.

So Dev says, 'History has seen many Devdas but Dev Dixit nahi dekha'. Right. So while SRK of Devdas went to Paro in privacy, this Dev Dixit stands in front of his Paro in full public view. That SRK asks Paro not to marry and Paro tells him, 'its too late, she's doing it for family'.
This TV screen Dev transforms from SRK characters to Suniel Shetty from Dhadkan (as Malvika rightly said earlier) and in front of the couple, families & society congratulates his Ms. Bose!
Of course, he can't do anything else, he doesn't have his mom's permission for that !
What is this drama for then? and Why is the promo getting praised? I am sure missing something here...

I bought what they sold me. Praised it. But after they made the sale, they decided to change the product completely. Changes that are diametrically opposed to what they promised. They proudly tell me now that the product is fantastic - what's coming is greater.
It very well might be but this is not what I bought!

I guess that's why their characters are so adept at breaking promises left, right & center!

Thank God I didn't pay money for this. I would have felt very cheated but now I have the remote. Thank God for small mercies!

Ok! anger vented out... Phew! 😳

😆😆 ok, so I just vented out my anger on Bookworm's note. Phew!
and totally love your positivity and your reason - 'thinking of the reasons why we held on so long' :)

Dev lets Sona go for his mom
becomes obsessive
Dev lets Sona go for Sona
becomes a recluse
hmmm... Ishwari finally starts seeing the changes in him
Sona is engaged, not married...

hahaha... talk about hope!

You are wonderful and today is a good day 😃

So am with you - holding on till the 12th 😃

😃 This seems to be the last hope ... and as my dear friend LiveLife321 just pointed out too... Waiting till the 12th and then peaceful life is what I will embrace as well 😃

Sona gave Dev a one-month deadline.
I give myself a week 😊
