I've always admired Sona for her manners, for her genuine empathy, for her spirit, for keeping cool under pressure. And always marveled that the CVs finally gave us that one character that was as close to reality as serialdom could allow and one that was refreshingly in step with the times. And then always held my breath that she wouldn't deteriorate into cliche.
So I celebrate today!! What a class break-up scene that was!! Faced by a weak lover, who succumbed under pressure and would not fight for them, Sona did the best she could: first she tried to calm him down. Then more patience. Then grabbed him by the collar to din some sense into his head... make that his heart. And then when he took recourse to the unanswerable 'my mother is my god' argument, she walked. That's right! She walked!
Her heart might have been breaking. Her tears definitely were blinding her eyes. But it didn't stop here from seeing clearly... from thinking straight. She didn't stoop tohis level of unreason. She held on to her dignity. And she walked! That 'goodbye' said all that needed to be said.
Anybody who's had their heart broken will testify to how hard it is to stop fighting for your love, to stop pleading. But Dr. Sonakshi Bose proved she's made of sterner stuff when she made a clean break.
And then later she did what she had to for her patient... With a smile, no matter if she's dying inside. and her fingers turning white around the door handle with the effort of keeping the pain at bay. Didn't dignify Ishwari's breathtakingly callous remark about the breakup being a good thing. Except for that last factual assertion : that she had a place in Dev's happiness!
And from the precap it is clear she continues to stay strong. No lingering. No mess. Just a clean break! Now that's what I call class!
