So when I was watching the episode today, I realized that Sona, Dev, and Ishwari have one trait so much in common, indenial.
Sona, because she is indenial of the fact that Dev is not going to support her though all of this drama. When Bijoy told her about how he doubts that Ishwari likes her (what is she, a doll? Why does Ishwari have to "like her"?) all Sona could repeat was, "but Dev loves me.." or "Dev told me..", etc etc. she has too much faith in her relationship with him to the point that she believes that Dev's love for her can overshadow everyone of their problems. And the moment Dev told her that Ishwari likes her at the end, she just believed him. She's so caught up with the fact that "Dev will figure it out" or "Dev will support me" that she's becoming oblivious of the obvious. This deep faith in Dev is only going to cause their breakup to hurt her more. Trusting someone is one thing, but blindly trusting someone is just unhealthy. That look Sona had for the 3/4 of their conversation (at the end of the episode), her head was clear and she understood Bijoy's worries. But as soon as she looked into Dev's big brown eyes, the spell of obliviousness casted over her all over again.
And maybe I'm looking too much into the scene, but I feel that their hug (the jumping hug) was purposely done like how it was in Sona's dream. Because that dream was an illusion in her head, a figment of her imagination of her perfect world with Dev, where everything is perfect and their love solves everything, and this whole "Ishwari likes me, and we will work" is just another illusion. She wants to believe that they will pass through everything if they're together but they can't. They both aren't admitting to the reality of what's going on in their minds.
Dev, because he is completely indenial of the fact that his perfect mother doesn't want what he wants. It's crystal clear, with all the evidence that Ishwari doesn't want them together, yet all he can do is shake his head and say "my mom wants what I want". And just like Sona (in the last scene), he entered Ishwari's room with a clear head knowing what he has heard, and you could see that the truth was slowly sinking in. But the moment he heard her say no with her smile, he fully believed her. And the spell of obliviousness was casted on him too.
Ishwari, because she is indenial of the fact that her son has grown up. Every time she talks, I've noticed that she starts with "remember when..". She is living in the past where her son (let's face it, more like trophy) is devoted to her and only her. When she talked to Mamaji (who I've started being annoyed of now) she again started with their past. The past is gone and she has to understand and stop denying the fact that her son doesn't need her as much anymore, he has fallen in love, and there is someone he loves as much as her.
All in all an amazing episode. I love this drama in the show right now, it's so complex but not ridiculous. Keep up the great work CVs and please keep it the way it is. It makes me love the characters at times, and get annoyed of the same characters at times, and then question the characters at times. It really is a show about the many different colours of love...
