Chapter 10

"Kichu bhaiya, yeh kis ke liye?", Sonakshi asked seeing kichu making soup, as she entered the kitchen.

"Dev bhaiya ke liye"

"he asked for soup in the breakfast?", Sonakshi asked frowining.

"Ji, He has high fever since last night. He said he was feeling dizzy after coming home", he informed, not meeting her gaze.

"And you're telling me now!?"

With that, she dropped the dish in the sink and ran out of the kitchen.

Clicking the door knob, making sure no one else is present, she quietly entered the room as she saw him lying on the bed, sleeping. Frowning as she saw him without a blanket, she slowly walked up to the closet to pull out a blanket. Tugging him under it, sitting beside him on the bed, she whispered scrunching her eyebrows in despair, "let's work like maniacs all the time, let's not have food on time, let's not have medications and you will be just fit and fine!"

Sighing, she continued, "you don't hesitate to turn the house upside down when I don't have my lunch on time, always there after me like a spy, and when it comes to you, you didn't even care to drop a text?"

Running her fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp, she dropped her fingers on his eyebrows, straightening the scrunched up lines. "Pretty sure, you didn't inform anyone else either regarding your health? Of course, who am I kidding! You love to keep everything to yourself and not worry anyone in the house, how I can forget!", Giving a sarcastic chuckle, disappointed at him and herself as well. She knew that he has always been like this, she should have checked on him!

Massaging his forehead ever so tenderly, she whispered as her eyes blurred, "What do I do to you, AB?!"

Sighing, she stood up, turning around to get a bowl of water and handkerchief to put it over his head, though his temperature looked quite normal to her, when her breath hitched as she felt a tug at her hand. And the next thing she knew, she was being pulled harshly and she landed on the bed with Dev rolling on top of her.

Letting out a loud gasp, she widened her eyes in horror, as she tried to sink in what just happened in this split second.

"Hey beautiful!", came the husky voice, as he bored down his chocolate eyes into her hazel ones.

Gulping as her huge eyes kept looking from his right eye to left, her mouth automatically gaping as she stared at him, her cheeks turned flushed pink at the endearment he used, without her knowledge and permission.

With her hands on his chest without her knowledge, she slowly started squirming under him, trying to find a way to get out, still hoping after hopes that whatever is happening right now is one of her crazy dreams that she quite often gets, especially for the last few days.

"Stop doing that!", he ordered with an underlying warning in his tone.

And she instantly stopped. Looking from her left to right, trying her best to avoid his heated gaze, she gulped yet once again, her throat now dry in fear.

"A-aap...y-yeh...kya kar...r-rahe hai?", she finally managed to ask, still not meeting his gaze.

Running his finger tips on her eyebrows, straightening the furrowed lines, he dropped his palms to cup her left cheek that were burning under his touch. Dropping a lingering kiss, he lifted his face to look at her only to have his chest rumble with laughter at the incredibly adorable face she had put up at the small act he did. Her eyes had turned as huge and round as a saucer, her cheeks had become the brightest shade of red, her nose was pink and her mouth was clasped by her tiny hand. She laid under him frozen!

"This makes my job so much easier!". Indicating her paralyzed state, he dropped his mouth to place another peck on her right cheek making her already huge eyes getting wider, if it was even possible. She felt like she might just burn into ashes under his burning touches any moment!

"P-pl...please...!", was all she managed to utter at the pitiful state she was in.

"Please what, sweetheart? Do you want me to do it again?", and with that, he kissed her nose open mouth without waiting for her reply.

Sonakshi couldn't for the love of her life make a head or tale of what was going on with and around her. Let alone coming to terms with the situation, her mind and brain had stopped working all together. She wished the bed could swallow her right there and then and keep her inside until he left this room.

"A-ap...yeh...k-kya kar...rahe ..h-hai?", she stuttered, he voice barely audible, not sure about whether to look into his chocolate orbs or drop down her gaze to somewhere else. Hell, he was literally hovering over her! Finally making up her mind to move her gaze from his eyes, downward, she almost let out another loud gasp seeing his chest playing a peek-a-boo from the two buttons of his shirt undone, making her instantly look back in his eyes, leaving no other choice to her poor soul.

"Oh so you want me to explain what I'm doing? No problem! I am-"

"NO!", she almost screamed at his audacity. "no! don't.. don't explain, p-please!"

Dev, for once, wanted to just roll on the floor and laugh his heart out seeing her condition. He had almost decided to let go of the poor soul, looking at her pitiful state and utterly cute face, who couldn't even squirm properly under him because he had strictly ordered her not to, however, controlled himself, sticking to his initial plan.

"So, what do you want me to do, Ms. Bose?"

World around her came to a complete stop, her senses was paralyzed, everything around her blurred except him and she felt like air was gushed out of her lungs that very moment, as she stared at him, into his eyes with her breath held, her heart ran a full marathon in that fraction of a second. His playful face had become serious all of a sudden, his eyes had turned few shades darker, and he stared down at her as though he's expecting a proper explanation and answer.

She couldn't talk. She couldn't think. Hell, she couldn't even breathe!

"I'm done all the talking. Time to zip my mouth and perk my ears for you are gonna do that job!". He said flatly, his face still grim, as he rolled over on his back beside her, lifting himself up on his elbows.

"I-I...I don't know w-what you're talking about!", with that she was about to get up only to be pulled back again, slamming her against his chest.

"Fine, If that's how you wanna play! But you're not going anywhere until we have this discussion. Now you decide whether you want to escape or stay here, in this position forever. Not that Im complaining...", he said shrugging with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.

"H-how...how...did you know?", was all that came out of her mouth.

Getting up with a jerk, giving her a "really?!" look, he turned his back to her, as he started buttoning up the above two button of his shirt.

"how...when-"

"You really think I need some bloody proof to recognize you?! Did you consider me so dumb and blind that I would fail to notice how you had been after me, taking care of me since the very first day, making me all my favorite dishes back to back without me even telling you what my preferences are? Do you think I'm a bloody idiot to not recognize those eyes or the fact that your nose turns red when you cry? That you hiccup when you weep? Or that you have an entire collage of my pictures in your closet? Do you think you would be able to hide that pendant that I gave you before leaving for good and it won't come to my notice? What the f*ck where you even thinking, Sonakshi?!"

That was all it took for her to let out a loud sob before running straight into his arms, slamming herself against his chest, holding him as if her entire life depended on him. As his hands laid beside him, she frowned. Holding his hands with her own, putting his arms around her waist, she tightened her hold around his neck as if to never let go. The peace that descended upon her the moment his arms held her back protectively was beyond comprehension to her and it felt like she had won the words for those couple of seconds. The "Sonakshi", though being voiced out in fury, sounded so soothing to her heart, the moment he had addressed her as "Bose" spilled immense tranquility inside her that she could not fathom. Snuggling in his warmth that his body radiated as he tightened his hold, she gulped.

"You better be!", he said kissing her hair, as he rubbed her back.

"Since when...h-have you..."

"I had noticed your pendant the day I admitted you in the hospital.", he said pulling her back, looking into her eyes. "And everything started getting clear every passing second. Joining the two and two, I realized why I was getting attracted by you so much the day I found you unconscious and brought you home; why I was getting affected by your tears, why you possessed the ability to make me feel better in my weakest point just like you used to in our childhood days. When I asked maa if she had told you about my favorite dishes, she had no idea what I was talking about. But I just brushed it off, thinking you're just guessing my preferences or that it must be a coincidence. But when I saw the pendant adorned in your neck, all my doubts were clear. And then I carried out my own investigation."

Her lips trembled, unable to form any words, let alone voice out anything as tears after tears streamed down her cheeks.

"I felt like the reason behind my existence was s-snatched a-away when I realized that I would never be able to see you. I don't know ... I...I don't know...h-how I gathered myself for the past 10 years without...w-without your s-support,... without seeing you, w-without h-hearing your voi-v...voi-ce", she managed to speak, her words started to falter as her breath quickened. Suddenly she started to take in bountiful of air, as if gasping. Dev's eyes widened in horror.

F*ck!

Taking long strides towards his drawer, he took out the inhaler and returned holding her by the small of her back, rubbing it vigorously.

"Shh... Easy...Easy! Relax..", he whispered soothingly, although his voice held the underlying concern and his eyes contained immense desperation, as he put the inhaler in her mouth and asked her to breath in and hold.

Within seconds, the color of her face returned, as he sighed in relief.

"better?"

Nodding, she was about to resume her talking only to be stopped by a finger over her lips.

"No more talking. We will continue later. Time to rest."

With that he was about to hold her shoulder and lead her to bed when an utterly exasperated and ear deafening voice echoes in the room.

"What the hell are you doing here?! Didn't I ask you to make lunch?! Always finding way to escape from work! You -"

"out!", A bone chilling voice interrupted her halting Radha's feet as she widened her eyes. His eyes contained a sudden fury, his child-like smile with the immense peace in his eyes were all gone, replaced by a sudden rage that sent a bone shivering chill down Sonakshi's spine.

"Kya?"

"Out of this room...NOW!", his eyes were red now and he screamed like a raging bull.

"Dev beta-"

Stopping her by raising his hands to let her talk any further, he growled, "There's a thing called privacy! And I hate to be disturbed when I am busy! ", her emphasized the last word deliberately, making Sonakshi's jaw drop.

Gukping, she somehow tried to manage to utter a reply, "o-of course beta, let me just take this useless-"

"One more word and I won't hesitate to show your f*cking filthy place right at this moment. I said OUT OF THIS ROOM!", he exasperated at the top of his voice, making Radha Rani run out of the room clutching her heart.

"Dev! What are you... doing?! Is that how you talk to-"

"Not now Sonakshi!", he cut her, holding her shoulder as he led to the bed, his nose still flaring, his eyes staill contained the rage boiling his blood. It's gonna be hell of a long day.

"But Dev, you-"

Giving her a glare, shutting her mouth tight without uttering a syllable, he laid her down on the bed. Massaging her scalp as she closed her eyes, Dev spoke with utter tenderness, completely opposite to the side he had just put in display, few minutes ago.

"At least 3 hours of nap." He said tugging her under the duvet, as he turned on the air conditioner. Frowning at the dark circles that had formed under her eyes, he cupped her cheeks with his thumb under the part of her eyes, as he spoke with a determination in his tone,"I will make sure they are all gone!"
