Option 2. My MIL - quite possessive. Her son is very respectful but they do not necessarily have a very open relationship. She also has flashbacks of my husband prior to age 18 because after that he left home for higher studies so there is a match with Ish's flashbacks. :). She is however far superior to Ish because she like a true parent ultimately only wants our happiness so...

I may not have any suitable test subjects after all...

Ish's chula drama was quite OTT to say the least. Someone watching the show today will think that in the previous episode Dev proposed moving her to an old age home..

That was hilarious 🤣 !!!! But surprisingly I could empathize with her today , unlike previous episode till the cooking drama .

On a more serious note - Dev was unable to stop her from such an illogical action of cooking on the floor and looked shocked at one cross word from her. How can Sona ever marry such a guy? She is bound to have a difference of opinion with her MIL sometime and in this house she will receive zero support. I may be exaggerating but it is not far from the truth. Perhaps Kushal Roy was not so bad after all. He took a stand with his mom for an unknown girl and decided to give her the benefit of doubt and met her even though she stood up his family when they came home.

Lets not draw conclusion so fast , give it some time and find out how things turn out !!!

Ishwari certainly knew Dev wante to talk about his relationship with Sonakshi but when he decides to divert the topic she is hurt that her all grown up does not want to share his important matters with her any longer.
She even tries probing him by asking if there is something else on his mind again he is given a chance but maybe fear makes back down
Ishwari taking out the Chula to cook I think she just wanted to send a message to Dev that she is still the same person he can come up to her and talk .
The problem with Dev is he has always spoken to his mother about business and about herself never has he even once asked his mother for something for him , so I can understand Dev been scared to let his mother know about Sona.
Sonakshi on the other hand has an awesome family yet she too choose not to tell them that she has fallen in love

THANK YOU for making this post!! This was exactly what came to my mind after yesterday's episode.. Ishwari didn't irritate me that much yesterday, I'm getting used to her behaviour now.. in fact, yesterday she was much more open to receiving the news, she didn't put up a cold front which she keeps doing freequently this days.. which is why, it was all the more frustrating to see Dev chickening out.

The central conflict of the show is out in the open, but I didn't expect to find myself so unsympathetic towards Dev and Ishwari both. The problem I've had with Dev right from the very first promo is his lack of ability to stand up for his love. His behaviour right now is a lot like guys we know, who promise you the stars and the moon but when it comes to acting on it, they chicken out. Raising the kushal roy point was bang on!! Kushal was supposed to be blatantly wrong for Sonakshi, it's a really bad sign that we find ourselves sympathising with that character
I really want Dev to realize Sonakshi's importance in his life, he needs to yearn for her, fight for her. And for that he needs to see beyond his mother for one minute without feeling so incredibly guilty. Like someone mentioned before, he can't see nirasha in his mother's eyes.. so every time there's a conflict in the house, he's gonna ask Sonakshi to shut up. Dev is the most lovable character when he's delivering romantic lines, it that's mostly Shaheer's charm. My lack of connect with Dev's character is ringing alarm bells in my head and making me wonder if I'll be rooting for this couple in the long run!
I wanted Sonakshi to be upfront with Dev and tell him that she needs to tell her parents too. Dev is anyways least bothered about her family, at least Sonakshi needs to think about them instead of joining dev in worshipping Ishwari. We all know what Dev will do if ishwari refuses for their alliance, but I wonder if Sonakshi tells him that her parents aren't ready for their union and therefore they need to break up what would dev's reaction be? Possibly ' You can't do this to me'.
Right now, I just have one advice for Sonakshi.. run, girl!!

Dev needs to yearn for Sona. For this to happen first he need to understand her importance in his life. Now tell me how he will understand her importance in his life when she is there for him 24/7.
From the confession till today, everything was cake walk for Dev in this relationship. Obviously he took her for granted. I said some time back in soumya's post, we never know the value of what we have till we lose it.
Let him do more mistakes, let him choose his mother over Sona, Let Sona move out of his life and thats the time he will actually understand what is her importance in his life. It may looks like sadistic while saying but I am waiting to see him suffer for Sona and i am glad that story is moving forward from their koo chikoo moments.

I think more than Kushal Roy, Neil Lakhotia will give Dev a run for his money. he is rich, very caring and also loves Sona.. She deserves a real chivalrous prince and not a pussy prince.

More than Ishwari, i am livid with Dev. I speak as a man. I just cannot connect with his behaviour, no matter how close he is with his mom (Shaheer had a very difficult part to play yesterday and he did it brilliantly.. his lips too were literally quivering!), i cannot digest the fact that he is unable to talk to his mom. if he cannot do it now, will he do it after marriage? Can he talk about everything, except his own needs?

I think, if this continues, Dev should make the promise of marrying the girl the Ishwari wants, and move on in life. Sona too can move on and so can the audience. We have seen kuch rang pyar ke and it was a blessing.. However, something tells me that the makers may toe this line. they will make Dev actually promise to Ishwari ( due to one of the intial promos where Sona tells him - jab kissa khatam hone wala hai...) .They may then show how Sona will try to win Ishwari's heart. I hope this is not the line that they take. It will be too cliched.. it will then become a Saas-Bahu serial.

This theory is further proved by the fact that Sona (who has picked up star plus bahu qualities even before marriage) says they should reveal for sake of "ma".

RS have written DABH for some time.I think he brought that idea.

I want to ask Sona.Sona darling you also have your own mom. What about her.Why think of ur new mom so much.Who will think about ur old mom.

Thank you. Ish's goal seems to be to make Dev feel guilty not to do what she can to help her ever obedient son open up. Looks like she cannot cut Dev any slack at all. The one time he was slightly out of line, she is making sure he knows it and is acting in a way that will make him feel very bad.

Yes, some may say that is the storyline but Ish's graph is not being dealt with the realistic touch the show has been known for

Felt bad for Sona. She desperately wants to tell her family coz she knows they will be extremely happy abt it. But she can't as Dev's family's reaction is unknown. I know Sona is not the complaining types but I feel she shud tell Dev about Ish's changed behavior towards her, Mami's taunts that Ish wud get bride for Dev, this is the push needed for Dev to talk to Ishwari.

And ya he won't even touch Sona even after marriage until he has the guts to take permission from his mother. Faltu ka mera haq hai, mujhe chahiye dialogues and If he really ends up doing it, he would be guilty like hell and won't be able to tell his mother about his wife being pregnant. Seriously what a crackpot family Dixit's are.

My brother used to share everything with mom, but now as he entered his teenage he shares with us. Mom is completely ok with that fact.

So i don't see any such problem here, every mom understands that their children needs somthing called person space n time to understand the change.

Even in my case she keeps asking me time to time if i like someone, rather then doing something like ishwari.

I agree with that chula thingy, she is just seeking attention.. gosh please can someone tell her she above 50 for god's sake she is not unattended child who will keep doing some mischief to get attention.

WORD

If i was Sona i would have definetely thought about Dev.. these things that only looks good in serials in real life it sucks... i have many sisters who are suffering bcoz of these so called possessive mother. This mentality in India completely sucks that married girl should understand all wrong in her sasural. N all MIL needs to understand that girl came in their house is their responsibility as well.

PS: I am not married nor m in relation just kept a light on society that does exist in India.

Exactly. This is why so many of us are upset. Not because the show is following the plot indicated by the promos but because of the characterization they are resorting to, to do so. The promos promised me a strong Sona, where is she??

I think Sona will break up with Dev when she understands the underhanded insults by Eeshwari even after she approves their relationship. I don't feel that a modern, independent woman like Sona should stall her own life to fix all the damaged people in Dixit house.

Not if she is not valued by her husband and his family and certainly not at the cost of her own identity and dignity.

This whole post is the best post I have read today 😆 Seriously the chullah drama was such OTT I agree with the TM totally 🤣 The moment you feel pain for Ishwari, she does something SO OTT and Out of the box that the sympathy turns into laughter 😆 She doesnt think about how it would look to everyone whoever comes to visit the house, how her kids will be criticized for keeping their mom like this 🥱

I am glad that Radharani wont join hands with Ishwari and she might even confront her 😆 ATM she seems to have more brain than Ishwari 😡 I think this incident will trigger Mamaji to talk to Dev about Sona

Exactly. Was hoping for a more nuanced treatment of the main plot line of the show. Seduced by the Friday episode I saw the old epid over the weekend and wondered where has the mature, affectionate and understanding Ish gone? You cannot suddenly turn on a switch after epi 100. make Dev reserved, not bumbling. Make Sona compassionate, not a doormat!
