Chapter 9:

Natasha Gujral was not considered one of the top businesswomen in the country for nothing. One look at Sonakshi and she knew that she is still in love with Dev but is too proud to admit that.

She knew Dev's side of story. But that was only one half of the picture.

"Have you ever been in love Dev?" Natasha had asked him

"Yes..very much so" Dev replied sipping his coffee.

"Tell me about her na".She was curious now. This was totally unexpected..Dev Dixit and Love!!!!

"There is nothing much to tell" Dev tried his best to avoid this topic but Natasha was determined to know about this mystery girl in his life.

"Well...She had this little madness in her. But I didn't care; She was magic and I was on the edge. She wanted to fall and I wanted to fly and somewhere in between we lost direction in our heads, we collided and I lost my heart on impact" Dev replied...lost.

"Woah Woah..Mr. Poet Dixit!!!!"

He laughed.."I am sorry...that's why I avoid talking about her. She brings out some other side in me"

I will need to talk to her someday very soon...because Dev will not ask her anything I am sure' She pondered what Dev might be doing right now.

He must have missed at least twenty calls from his mom, who was probably wondering how come her son has not returned home yet but Dev couldn't care less. He had an important task in his hand right now which was getting difficult every second since Sonakshi was least co-operative. She was awake now and was talking non- stop. Due to alcohol's effect all her inhibitions were gone.

"You know you have lost lot of weight...theek se khaya karo" Dev decided to make small talk while driving.

"Accha...that's why you like that female??Uska weight perfect hai?" She thundered.

"Arey??Kiska?"

"Natasha!" Pat came her reply.

Dev laughed out loud.

"Sona...don't put that much of pressure on your brain now. We are just friends"

"Accha...to uss time tum dono apne cabin main kya kar rahe the door andar se lock kar ke?"

"Door lock kahan tha? We were just having a meeting" Dev was bewildered by now."Tum kuch bhi soch leti ho?".

"So you don't like her?"She asked.

"Sona..she is my good friend"

"Matlab you don't like her uss tarah se?"She probed again.

"Kis tarah se?"He was a tough nut to crack!

"Tum sab samajh rahe ho ..whatever I am trying to say" She pouted."And now you are calling me Sona...itne din se Miss Bose Miss Bose kar rahe the uska kya?"

"Oh.. Accha...to tumhe bura laga?" He asked hiding his smile.

"Why will I feel bad...main to bas point out kar rahi hu" She explained.

"I see...and tum jo Mr. Dixit Mr. Dixit karti ho uska kya?"

She had no answer to that.

"Ok ..tell me one thing...Why you wanted to work with me?"He asked.

"You think you are a genius ...khud se figure out kar lo" She challenged.

"Sona..Can I ask you something?"

"You always have tons of questions for me" She giggled sleepily.

"You were getting married right? And now you are here...what happened actually?"He was wondering about this since the day they met.

"Shaadi? Me? Kya? Kyu?"She laughed.."Looks like you are drunk now".She said sleepily.

Dev was more and more confused now.He was about to ask something when Ishwari's call distracted him.

"Maa...I will be home late...aap so jao"He said.

By the time they reached her apartment Sona was fast asleep so Dev had to pick her up and carry her till her home.

"Sona..get up...where are the keys??" He shook her. She just handed him her wallet and keys and went back to sleep again.

Once inside he dumped her unceremoniously on the couch and started to leave when her wallet slipped from his hand. Perfect' He thought irritated. He was definitely surprised to see his picture in her wallet. It was an old pic clicked by her on his school farewell. Good Old days... Dev smiled. He turned to check on Sonakshi who was about to fall from her couch.

This won't do' He thought...'This mad girl will hit her head in her sleep'

"Sona...which room is yours??"He tried to wake her up.

"That one" She pointed.

He helped her sit on the bed and turned off the light.

"Now just sleep...If you want you can take half day off tomorrow...waise bhi hangover rahega kal tumhe..ok?"

Sonakshi nodded.

"And I am hungry so I am using your kitchen ok?" He asked. But Sonakshi was asleep by then.

Never in last seven years he had imagined meeting Sonakshi again and now here he was in her apartment ...making himself a sandwich while the lady in question was fast asleep.

"Sonakshi ji...kuch to banana seekh lo...kal jab tumhari shadi hogi to apne husband ko kya khilaogi?" Dev teased Sona.

"Why will I cook for him?? He should cook for me?" Sona was no less of a drama queen.

"Accha...so you want to marry a cook? I think I should let your parents know your choice" He winked knowing very well that she will get irritated.

But this time Sona was ready to shock him.

"I wont mind marrying a cook if he is as sexy as you"She whispered.

"Ohk...so you think I am sexy?"Dev was definitely surprised seeing her talking like this.

"Ofcourse...and you have no idea what else I think about you"She countered.

Air was blown out of Dev's lung after hearing this. He was not sure if she was kidding or serious.

"Accha...tell me what else you think"He begged.

"Ha Ha Ha...in your dreams mister...apna chehra to dekho...bare aaye the mera majak urane" She laughed at him.

It took him some time to recover.

"Do you want to know what I think sometimes?" He asked her poker faced.

"No... and go now" Sona knew she is trapped.

"Itni bhi kya jaldi hai...and ye sab baat tumse nahi karunga to aur kisse karunga?"He asked huskily trying very hard not to laugh at her expression.

"Dev...all you guys are useless...jao yahan se..single track mind sabka" She was totally embarrassed by now.

"Arey main to apne career choices ki baat kar raha tha...tumhe kya laga?" He asked mischieviously.

Sona was so embarrassed that she ran away.

Dev could not help but smile thinking about all this.

She used to be so shy and introvert then and look at her now'...He thought proudly.

It was really late now. He had important meeting to preside early morning and the previous night also he was unable to sleep.

"Its been two days since her entry in my life and I am already sleepless" He wondered aloud.

He went to check on her before leaving.

She was sleeping soundly without any care of the world. For some reason he just stared at her. She looked happy..he thought.

He caressed her hair and she murmured in her sleep. "Dev..."

"Goodnight Sona" He said softly..."Sweet dreams"

"Hmmm..."

Dev stood up. It was definitely very late now.

His plan was just to drop her off safely. That's it. And so far he did stick to it.

He turned to leave when..

"Why did you leave me back then Dev?" She said in her sleep, blissfully unaware of the shocked expression which just crossed Mr. Dev Dixit's face.
