Acting was never the issue at all.
Its the way the direction/editing/scripting or whatever you want to call it has started deteriorating lately with completely unrealistic roadblocks and situations.
The characterization is where most of the blame lies.
Sona is yet to even utter the magic words like she means it (I am not talking about implying, but actually saying I Love You) and people are worried about the separation track? Sona has always been portrayed as a strong, matured individual and she cant even say them. And please don't say that she is a very shy girl and this is her first time. That wont wash.
Dev is a doormat because:
1. He never once tried defend Sona against Mami's attacks (Neha for all her faults was fabulous defending, Ranveer. Thats why she is my second most fav char after Ishwari) in a gentle but firm way that she should not be treated that way. Irrespective of whether he loves her or not, she deserves her self-respect. I am not saying he should yell but nothing stops from him being firm but he doesnt. Similarly when Ishwari says something to Sona during the payal scene again he says nothing. If thats the case now, once they are married she will see hell cause he wont think of defying his mother whether she is right or wrong. Thats not a caring son/husband thats being a wimp/doormat
2. He has lost a sense of himself. Sona still retains hers and would be quite willing to disagree with Dev if she feels so but I dont see Dev being able to do so at this stage. That again might look very romantic because he is very accommodating but it butchers his character,
I can go on and on but suffice to say that its not that I post negative things because it thrills me. I do so because it frustrates me to see a perfectly good story/character being mishandled.
Having said that if the average fan wants a lovey dovey story with cliches at every devakshi scene then I guess my expectations are different. I thought this was about a matured romance with too strong individuals navigating life's problems together without compromising each other principles or characters.
