i stopped watching the show after the confession episode, because i liked that episode so much i knew the rest was never going to live up to it. i just read the updates.

the upcoming promo at the end of that confession episode when dev nails her to the corner and she is shyly looking at him. i am sure that scene turned out differently with dialogues, but i knew then show was turning cliched, so i stopped watching, as it was the usual hero cornering the heroine in tv shows.

the confession episode was the best episode on indian tv, because it was different. there was a emotional resonance to the episode. dev takes her to all the places of his childhood. the confession was simple yet unique. how many times have we seen that before in all other shows? but stitching buttons, saree scenes they might work in reality, and everyone loves them, but a few might find they have seen them 10000 times in every show and are cliched scenes.

i will start watching the show again when they all find out about them. hopefully then the shyness and hiding in corners will evaporate and both dev and sona will work together to find a solution to their problem.

i get that everyone loves those scenes, so good for you all, as you're getting what you want, and i have no issue with you, but i expected more from the writer when it comes to emotional resonance between the leads without opting for the usual cliched scenes.

From just one shot of his face we could see that returning pen is just a bahana.. he is there because he is missing her badly and needs to see her. For me his silence speaks thousand words which "you compete me" fails to do. Now in that promo put lines like "my life feels so empty without you" and it becomes cheesy for me 😭 😕 Hope I"m making sense here 😊

👍🏼

well said! guys are refreshing with their actions than their cheesy, cliched, flirty lines from some website then they all sound the same 😆
i would have liked to see dev without his cheesy lines which dont even suit him.
there is a massive crowd for cheesy lines though. it is the reason movies such as fault in our stars work so well and girls end up falling for guys who use cheesy lines but also end up cheating on them. actions do reveal a lot if one pays attention to them.

I like the show after confession more and like the cheesiness too if that is what you call. Both are first time lovers so in love matters they are like new born babies and slowly they are discovering each other. There is nothing wrong in that, if not this then tell me how do you suppose they should proceed with the show.

She has been like this always.. Dev has been her prized possession.. a trophy son. Dev has enjoyed her attention and her pampering.. bit of extra love he always got from her. And then Sona happened and he just changed colors overnight. His character did this 180 degree flip.. so much so that Dev who could just look at Ishwari and know what was going on in her mind couldn't even see why his mom was so hurt on her birthday..😭 Dev has changed so much that Ishwari is looking like borderline crazy now 😕

I beg to differ. I think it is the other way around. Probably mutual too, but I believe it's how Ishwari brought them up, that has made him like this.

If you notice, there's a deep rooted patriarchy in the upbringing. Dev was the head of the house even as they grew up which I think is the main cause for the trouble. She has seen him as her equal and as he grew up, her superior.
He makes the decisions.
He gets away with anything.
He can marry Sona though there is a difference in status because he can provide for the two of them. Even Sona's family for that matter.

The point I am trying to make is, Ishwari unconsciously put the obsession into him. He wanted to do well for his family but it was also Ishwari's will that helped. While professionally he has progressed, personally, there's a lot to learn.

This is probably unpopular opinion but i'd freak out if a guy waits for me 2 hours in the rain just because we had an incomplete fight. That is abnormal and I don't see romance in it. But I realise am in the minority and I was able to sit through some of the romantic scenes mainly because I dint see them as romantic in the first place. I only saw Dev's obsession and extreme character shine through 😆 Don't even get me started on the cheesy dialogues. I can't take stuff like 'you complete me' with a straight face 😆 I know ppl are probably gonna hate this but I do see Dev as a hugely flawed character. He is far from a great guy or best boyfriend or best son or whatever. And yes his mom is hugely to be blamed for this and the two have sort of contributed to magnifying each other's flaws. Dev doesn't even care enough to inform his mom about Sona cos he has taken her consent for granted. He doesn't even bother to check on Natasha cos he feels he is entitled to do whatever he wants and he is always right. He goes from obsessing over his mom to obsessing over Sonakshi and I actually think that goes with his messed up character 😆 It would be really interesting to see how he reacts when Sona suggests in the future that she wants to work elsewhere. Pretty sure he has taken it for granted that she will always serve his mom and he doesn't feel the need for her to work cos he will provide for both. I wish they focus on stuff like this instead of just romance and cheesy declarations which ultimately hold no value if he doesn't really care to stand up for her. Anyways my point is I still find the show intriguing enough to watch. The cheesy romance grates on my nerves but I do find their relationship interesting in a lot of ways. Dev's unhealthy obsession with ppl, his mom acting like a scorned girlfriend every time he as much as spends time with another girl almost making it look like reverse Odepus complex, Neha's justified disgust with the mother son duo etc. 😆 If anything am looking forward to all that and not the romance. Hopefully the makers get the message and balance things out 😆

Perfect analysis of Dev's character.. 😛 this deserves a separate topic 😉😆

Wish makers were intellectual enough to tap into such depth and details of every character than to serve some cheesy nonsense 🥱

Well then they shouldn't have shown future track in the beginning of the show.. and I am not even talking about the actual story line they showed. I am talking about the kind of mature romance they showed which doesn't go with what they are serving me now. Let's see what and how they handle this track in future but till then I am bound to feel cheated 😭😛

Humm.. I kind of agree with you when you say it's mutual. They both sort of grew up and fought with the world together like a team.. gave each other extra attention compared to other family members. They both are flawed individuals and actually responsible for each other's flaws.

@bold.. completely agree 👍🏼

The pace is the USP of this show. Hang in there.. It's commin 😆
I have been following this show since day one, hoping to continue till the end since it's a finite series. So less room for bulshit 😳 😆

You will see the same thing happened to me then. Honestly I wondered then Is this the way IF operate as I am relatively new to the forum.
I didn't urge any one to agree with my view. I just felt she needs to work harder on her dialogue delivery and a few more things. It is my opinion.I was blasted left and right for my post and finally I admitted I regret making the post. Regret in my view is to express myself in such a place and they took it as my apology and went to the extent of saying since you realised your fault and apologised.I wondered for what I should apologise? Every person has a right to like or dislike an actress or actor.
Then I understood this place is dominated by people who function as per their will and entertain views of others only if they match with their own.
Then I posted Dev Dikshit not spared and strictly said I don't want any positive or negative views on my post.Luckily I was spared. I felt after butchering the Charecter of Sonakshi now the CVs are bent upon spoiling Dev Dikshit's Charecter.
I really felt happy for this thread and appreciate TM for boldly countering every onslaught in her own way.
I agree with all the points you put forward. It is just too much to thank the TM for increasing the forum activity.
Finally all of us love the show. That is why we bother. I bother because Shaheer is there. I may not like the romance part and the change in Dev's charecterisation but I still wish the show to do well.Shaheer should reign. No one has a right to ask others to stop watching .I may skip the romance part but I will catch up with the progress of the show. My wish.

So sorry if the same thing happened to you.. No this is not how IF operates. IF gives a platform to voice your opinion about the show, characters, actors etc. Your opinion can be positive, negative, neutral or anything else. As long as you don't use harsh derogatory words and are respectful to other members and their opinions.. you are good 👍🏼

I can see why you might have felt cornered and regretted making that post. But please keep posting your views even if they are not a popular opinion here. IF is for everyone 😃
